Greet the day with gratitude through this brief morning meditation. As we inhale gratitude and exhale peace, you'll find there are so many people, places, things, and experiences to be grateful for each day. Remember, "it's not joy that makes us grateful but gratitude that makes us joyful." - Brother David Steindl-Rast

Let's begin.

Take a deep breath in and a full breath out.

Relax your shoulders down.

Relax your jaw.

Move your tongue away from the roof of your mouth.

Try to find a tall spine.

Find a moment of stillness here before the rush of the day begins.

And greet the day with gratitude.

Inhale gratitude.

Exhale peace.

Start to bring to mind a person,

Place,

Thing,

Or experience that really brought you gratitude.

Breathe in deeply as you envision each one.

Start with a person.

Someone that you love,

That brings you joy.

Someone you appreciate.

And visualize this person fully.

Take time to see their face,

Their smile.

And once that face is locked in,

Take a deep breath in.

And a full breath out.

Inhale gratitude.

And exhale peace.

Now let's think of a place.

A place that you enjoy.

That you have had great experiences in.

A place that brings you comfort and peace.

Visualize that place and savor the feeling that it brings to you.

Once you have that place in your mind,

Take a deep breath in.

And a full breath out.

Inhale gratitude.

Exhale peace.

Now think of a thing.

Something that you find valuable.

Maybe that thing makes your life easier.

Or maybe it's a useful tool for you.

Something that helps you in some way throughout your day.

Once that's locked in in your mind,

Take a deep breath in.

And a full breath out.

Inhale gratitude.

And exhale peace.

Lastly,

Let's think of an experience that you enjoyed.

Maybe it was something that brought you happy times or hard times.

But in the end,

It was something that you appreciate.

Perhaps it was a challenging time or a simple pleasure.

But think of some kind of experience that you enjoyed.

Once you have that experience in mind,

Take a deep breath in.

And a full breath out.

Inhale gratitude.

And exhale peace.

Allow these visuals to stay with you throughout your day.

And comfort you and bring you joy.

As you prepare for your day,

Be on the lookout for more people,

Places,

Things and experiences to be grateful for.

Remember,

It is not joy that makes us grateful.

It is gratitude that makes us joyful.

As you spend your day looking for more things to be grateful for,

You'll find them.

And each time one arrives,

Take a deep breath in.

And a full breath out.

Inhale gratitude.

And exhale peace.

Enjoy your day.
