Welcome back to a night of animal wisdom and rest.
Last time,
Ashby Cat met Fox,
Who taught us how to embrace stillness.
Tonight,
We'll join Owl as she takes flight.
As you listen to Owl's wisdom,
I invite your inner guide to consider when you feel most safe.
As your mind moves towards the deep woods,
While you snuggle inside your cosy bed,
You notice the moon light your way.
At the edge of the woods sits Ashby Cat,
A silver tabby with a white face and pink ears.
She sits with her tail wrapped around her paws,
Seeking the answers to her busy mind.
Before we follow Ashby Cat into the wood,
Let's get comfortable.
Take a few moments to settle into the best position for you.
Maybe you want to move your arm a little,
Or bend your leg.
Allow your body to find a restful place.
Allow your mind to settle.
The only thing to do here is rest.
There is nothing else that is needed.
There is nothing else that is needed.
Nowhere else to be.
No expectations.
Nothing for you to attend to.
Everything can be picked up when you wake.
Right now it is your time to rest.
Take a deep breath in and let it slowly out.
Let your breath find its natural rhythm.
If your mind starts to wander,
Just bring your attention back to your breath and the cosiness of your bed.
You are completely safe.
You are supported.
You are supported.
Mother Nature is holding you and guiding you.
It was another tranquil night in the forest,
When Owl spread her tawny wings and took flight in the dark,
Keeping a watchful eye over the sleeping world below.
Owl's wings moved through the cool night air,
A silent shadow above the treetops.
From up high,
The forest lay spread beneath her,
A tapestry of shadows and soft glimmers.
She drifted over the woods.
Her gaze scanned every corner,
Every hidden grove and clearing.
The world below felt peaceful,
Each shape bending into the next,
Forming a gentle rhythm of the night.
At the edge of a clearing,
Owl spotted Ashby Cat,
Sitting by the trunk of a gnarly old oak tree.
She'd heard from the wind that the little cat was seeking answers,
And she was delighted to be able to offer her wisdom.
Owl landed on a branch a few feet away from little Ashby Cat so that she wouldn't be afraid.
Owl's tawny eyes looked deep into Ashby Cat's heart.
Her tail had formed the shape of a question mark.
Owl waited for the question mark to be answered.
Owl waited for the question to come in its own time.
Where does safety come from?
Said Ashby Cat's tail.
Owl's claws held onto the branch as it swayed with ease in the evening wind.
She could feel the rough bark.
Her feathers were wrapped in a silver fog that had curled around the tree trunks like a soft blanket.
The air was still.
Owl could see every leaf,
Every tiny branch,
And the forest breathing softly in its sleep.
The stars were scattered jewels,
And the moon hung low,
Casting a pale steady light.
In this hushed world,
She felt both small and vast,
Held by the sky and cradled by the earth.
It comes from within,
Owl said.
This piece is yours.
Rest here in safety.
Owl remembered a time when she feared the dark.
When every rustle in the leaves seemed like something to be scared of.
When every rustle in the leaves seemed like something to be scared of.
But as the nights passed,
She began to see the world with different eyes.
She learned to watch close,
And saw how every sound has its source.
Every shadow its shape.
Now,
Owl saw not just darkness,
But the beauty in every corner of the night.
And as she flew,
She knew that everything had its place.
She felt safe under the watchful gaze of the stars.
As you fall into a deeper sleep,
Imagine the safety of Owl's presence,
High in the trees.
Feel how the night sky cradles you,
Holds you gently in its dark starry embrace.
This piece is yours.
Rest here in safety.
As you drift deeper into sleep,
Allow your mind to rest.
Know that you are safe and secure.
That the stillness and safety you seek is within you now,
And always has been.
It is yours to revisit whenever you want.
In our next lesson,
We'll curl up with Hedgehog,
Feeling small,
Yet completely safe in our own tiny nest.
Until then,
Rest my friend,
And carry the wisdom of the animals with you,
For a deep,
Restful sleep.
