Welcome.
Today we will focus on transitions.
Our modern lives are full of transitions every day.
We are transitioning from being a mother to being a colleague,
To being a sister,
To being a friend,
To being a partner,
To being all those different roles in our lives.
Some of those transitions have a moment,
Some of them just happen.
Transitions are also something that are very naturally occurring all around us.
Our whole world works in cycles and therefore transitions through different phases and states all the time.
We go through the transitions of seasons,
Going from winter into spring,
Into summer,
Moving into autumn and back into winter.
We transition from day to night and back to day.
If you have a hormonal cycle you are transitioning through different phases each month.
The moon is waning and waxing.
Nature has all those transitions and our lives have even more of them.
So let's spend time getting comfortable with those transitions,
Observing them consciously,
Being fully in the here and now.
One of the easiest transitions we can observe every single day is a change from night to day.
So let's focus on this one today.
Imagine being by a lake in the early morning,
Just before the first light of day.
Everything is still grey and colourless.
All you can see is like shadows,
Different greys,
Black,
Grey,
Lighter grey,
Trees against the sky.
If you're turning east you can see the first bit of light appearing at the horizon.
And with this light comes the transition,
Comes the change.
This first light is starting to infuse colour into the world.
The greys turn into browns and greens and hues of blue.
In what was just a blob of black you can now see differences.
You can observe the birds and the tops of the mountains.
Feel what this transition,
This ability to see more,
The light coming back does to your body.
Feel your body changing from a tired early morning,
Not fully awake yet,
To ready for the day,
To waking up,
To regaining focus,
Just as the world is regaining colour.
Feel those first rays of sun on your face.
Watch all those intense colours that come with the sunrise,
All the different oranges and pinks in the sky.
The trees and the grass and the water glowing in its most intense way.
Feel your body doing the same,
Changing from that grey,
Calm,
No-colour night mode into being in hyper-focus,
Feeling and observing everything,
Taking everything in.
We want to learn to accept those transitions as a normal part of our lives.
So feel that transition deliberately and let it happen.
Maybe it is a little uncomfortable at first.
Maybe you still want to hold on to this comfortable night-time feeling,
The warmth of your bed,
The relaxation before the to-do list of the day hits you.
Allow for the transition.
Give yourself the time to let that transition happen.
Let the discomfort happen for a second until you start feeling the positive moments of the new day,
Of your new role,
Of the person you are just transitioning into.
Feel the energy flooding your body with the daylight coming in.
Feel the happiness touching you from the burst of colour that is happening as the morning gains traction,
Gains clarity.
Let that feeling of energy,
Of being in the here and now,
Of focus,
Of being ready spread through your body.
Hold still for three deep breaths and just feel the moment as it is.
A deep breath in to really deeply,
Under the rest edge of your body,
Feel.
Deep breath out.
Deep breath in to really take in the energy of the new day and a deep breath out,
Remaining in the feeling.
And one more deep breath in,
Taking the energy of the new day and breath out to calmly remain in the here and now with its energy,
With you being you as you are right now.
A transition to you,
Ready for the day and its many,
Many transitions to come.
Remember this feeling of this early morning transition whenever you are transitioning today throughout the day.
And maybe a transition feels a little edgy.
Just take a deep breath,
Take in the new and let the uncomfortable feeling happen for a moment until you have fully arrived in the new.
Being good with transitions is an exercise of just letting it happen,
Of not pushing back,
Of not refusing,
Of accepting the transitions in all their beauty with the positive feelings and with the discomfort that sometimes they bring.
Thank you for joining this transition practice and now go off into your day strengthened and conscious and ready for all of the transitions coming up.
