Take a moment and find a comfortable posture where you can freely move your shoulders.
For this energizing kundalini yoga kriya,
We're going to be linking our breathing with a slight rise and fall of our shoulders.
As we inhale,
We're going to bring our shoulders up towards the sky.
As we exhale,
We're going to let our shoulders drop back down.
And for this exercise,
You can do your breathing either fast or slow,
Like very fast like a breath of fire style,
Where you can breathe in slow and raise your shoulders nice and easy and then letting them fall.
Either way,
You can get a lot of benefits from this practice.
So with that comfortable posture ready,
Let's see if we can close our eyes,
Taking a second to focus in on maybe one long slow breathing in and one long slow breathing out.
Now let's get ready.
For about 30 seconds,
We're going to try to inhale and exhale,
Whether fast or slow,
With the rhythm of our shoulders.
Ready?
Begin.
See if you can stay focused with your breathing,
Whether fast or slow,
Keeping with that inhale shoulders up,
Exhale shoulders fall.
See if you can keep with this rhythm for just 10 more seconds,
Really focusing all your energy and attention.
And then as we get ready on our next inhale,
We're going to inhale and hold our shoulders up high.
See if you can take a big breath in and hold your breath.
We're going to see if we can hold this for about 10 more seconds.
And now take a long,
Slow exhale out your mouth and then see if you can focus on taking a long,
Slow breathing in and a long,
Slow breathing out.
See if you can do that three more times at your own pace and as distractions or other thoughts come up,
Just see if you can bring your attention back.
Stay with that long,
Slow breathing in and that long,
Slow breathing out.
And then you can get one last really focused breath in.
And when you're ready,
I invite you to relax your focus,
Your eyes are closed,
You can slowly open your eyes back up and just take a second to assess and see how you feel.
And just know that these simple Kriya practices are always available to you throughout your day and just taking a little bit of time to do some breath,
A little bit of breath work,
A little bit of movement and a little bit of stillness can have a really refreshing effect on our mind and body.
I hope you have a great rest of your day.
