This guided visualization takes you on a journey that helps you to understand the effects that conditioning and the fearful mind have on our ability to make aligned choices. 'Frequency of Freedom' recording will introduce you to a surprisingly simple everyday tool, which will help you to quieten the monkey mind that likes to speak to you in a programmed language of "shoulds" and "musts". And when this voice is 'put in its place', we can then better hear the voice of our true nature, that speaks to us in the language of the heart; With an emphasis on self-care and self-love, this is an essential addition to your discernment toolkit! It is a sunny day and you have decided to rest in your back garden.

As you lay in your hammock,

With your eyes closed to the warming sun,

It gently rocks you from side to side.

You feel you should be relaxed,

Contented and at ease,

For this is the desired scene of tranquility you set out to achieve.

However,

There is something interrupting and interfering with this peaceful picture.

As you fidget and adjust,

Scratch and itch and find that your eyes keep springing open when you want them to be closed,

You stop to consider what's going on.

It is then that you tune into your mind and you hear that it is telling you that you should be doing something else,

Something more useful,

Something on a list perhaps,

Something productive,

Something someone else would be doing,

Something other than this.

Your internal voice of the mind is making a judgement about your chosen activity and is letting you know that it expects,

Desires and demands something better from you instead.

It is suggesting that your current status of being is not enough,

It is of too little value or perhaps that it is too much,

That you are displaying too much self-indulgence.

Whichever way,

It is letting you know that it deems your choice as somehow inappropriate and unacceptable.

The nurturing part of you rises above,

It strokes your brow and settles you back into the gentle rhythmic movement of your hammock.

As your muscles soften,

You release the restricted breath and your mind clears.

But there it is again,

You notice an itch to your body and a twitch to your eye as your mind ramps up in its irritation.

The mind then reminds you of the times in the past when you'd been more productive and purposeful.

It follows with a red flag reminder of the past times when your prolonged rest had led you to the debilitating extremes of isolation and depression.

It warns you of why you should not be resting during the day,

For time and life is short and the list is long.

You uncross your ankles and then recross them the other way in search of some bodily comfort as your tormenting mind sends instructive fizzing energy to the legs and feet to get up and do.

You are experiencing a conflict that is virtually invisible to any onlooker,

But to you is deeply uncomfortable and increasingly unignorable.

As you irritatedly scratch yet another itch with the jolting action of the hand,

The hammock responds accordingly and swings you into a discordant rhythm.

The careful stability of its once lullaby rock has now taken on a motion that challenges your centre of gravity with each arch.

Then this requires your body to make the opposing alterations in a bid to return to a swing less nauseating.

The whole experience is beginning to feel rather unpleasant.

The once warming and nourishing sun now feels too bright upon your eyelids,

So you close them down harder.

All the small muscles around your eyes activate as your brow grows taut and furrowed.

And this choice of facial expression automatically sends messages back to the brain that something is definitely wrong,

For you are obviously worried or anxious even,

So it's best that the brain activates your nervous system to the next level of high alert to keep you safe just in case.

See,

Says the mind,

I told you this wasn't a good choice.

You find you are now fully removed from the peacefully prescribed present moment,

And this is far from the sense of freedom you were seeking through your summer-inspired hammocked rest.

And now breathe,

For this is just a story.

But do you recognise some of these processes,

Voices and activation sequences within you?

That internal conflict that somehow draws you away from what you feel you need and towards what you believe you should need instead?

When we allow our thoughts to take us away from that which we have mindfully chosen,

We have rendered our original choice as conditional.

When we entertain these new interfering instructions from the mind,

We are actually giving permission to the body to start preparing itself for this new space.

If we continue to lack clarity of commitment by allowing the wrestling act to continue without letting the mind and the body know exactly what we want from them in this moment,

Then conflict will ensue.

The pushes and pulls in multiple directions through lack of commitment means we are no longer fully in any one of the presenting spaces.

We cannot apply ourselves fully to any one thing because we have not fully committed to any one option.

This multi-layered space hosts an opposing frequency to freedom,

Rather it is attachment.

We are confined in conflict and thus attached to a state of suffering.

Freedom is a present moment energy.

It does not belong to the past nor to the future.

It does not exist within the energy of expectation or judgment or should or mustness.

It only exists in each now as a clear space of simply being.

When we allow the expectation and judgments of a fearful mind to convince us that we should be doing or working towards something else that feels counter to what we feel we need,

That desire can then propel our energy into both the future and the past.

The new instruction may be driven by the desire for a fixed goal or outcome and or propelled and driven by a modelling memory of a past success or a warning memory of a past failure.

If our mind brings forward a past memory as leverage or proof to sway our decision,

We must ask if the old story is actually relevant to us right now or might we be experiencing a fear response to that past event?

Is that feeling that we once had,

Which has now been and gone,

Holding us to its response pattern and therefore undermining our sense of discernment and restricting our growth?

Would bringing those old emotions into now moment choosing be a choice to stay a slave to that past event?

And if we are responding in reference to the details of an old story,

Surely this serves to hold us in an attachment to that past suffering.

As I'm sure you have heard before,

Control only that which is controllable.

So this is a lesson in controlling only that which you can,

Which is your will,

Your perceptions and your choices.

Let's see if we can move away from conditional choice or passive acceptance,

Away from the growth limiting attachment to the past and fixed desire for the future.

And rather start to choose within the fullness of freedom,

In the freedom of the now,

Based on what is currently presenting and what is currently needed for us and from us.

We cannot alter the past,

Nor can we know with certainty the future.

To choose in direct reaction to past or future energy is to dilute potency,

To deplete energy,

To stunt evolutionary growth and to contaminate your you-ness.

So what should,

I mean could,

We do in this hammock story?

We could respond to the poking and nagging discomfort inducing voices and get up from our place of rest to accept the demand to do something more useful.

And here,

With this passive acceptance,

We are likely to enter the next chosen space with the energy of downtrodden disempowerment,

Resentment,

Regret or the slavery energy of I had no choice.

We could stay laying in the hammock,

Trying and forcing ourselves into a state of rest,

Whilst passively entertaining the pulling voices of the past and the pushing voices to the future.

Here,

We allow the torment of our mind to disrupt and dishevel the gentle rock of our cradle,

As we try to adjust our way out of the body niggles and itchers that body speak of the tormented mind.

Here we have passively left the door ajar so the suffering energy of irritation and the status of deserving shame or guilt for our choice becomes our hammock companion.

And we may then hammock rock in the energy of I must suffer for this privilege.

Or we could remind ourselves that right now we have chosen to rest and that is still what we need to and want to do.

So we can release our attachment to suffering and consequence by stating out loud or firmly in our thoughts an active I choose statement.

For example,

I choose to lay here in rest for time needed.

This kind of space could also benefit from a gentle nod to the monkey mind by saying,

I hear your concerns and thank you for looking out for me.

I will go into planning mode once I am sufficiently rested.

So the quieter you are,

The deeper I can rest and the better the future planning will be.

Any disruptions or itches after that can be actively scratched or left unscratched,

Yet will be followed by a firm follow up reminder of the active choice of rest that is being made.

What is important is that we must make up our mind fully and state our choice with absolute commitment or our conditional space will likely be diluted in satisfaction,

Worth,

Value,

Effectiveness and potency.

This assertive active choosing draws all the fragmented parts right back into you,

Back into the now and back into the freedom that comes from active personal present moment choice.

All patterns,

Expectations and judgments have heard your clear instruction.

So they now know where they stand.

You have chosen this present moment over their suggestions and that is okay.

That is discernment.

That is empowerment.

That is peace.

That is freedom.

When there is something that we really must do,

In spite of wanting differently,

Due to let's say,

A duty,

Responsibility,

A work commitment,

Or a promised offer of help.

It is easy to fall prey to the feeling of burden and a subsequent belief that our choices have somehow been taken away.

However,

Know that your active response to these commitments is also still your choice.

We may not like what we have to do,

But wouldn't it be preferable to enter that space without the disempowering slavery sense of doing something against your will,

Rather to actively accept that it is still you that makes the decision in the end.

With that shift in perception,

You can bring forward your active I choose statement and move out of the suffering and conflict and back into the freedom of active choice,

Active acceptance and active response.

Only with this can you achieve the satisfaction gained from offering your fullness.

Only with this can you avoid a dishonor,

A falsity through a passive application of self within a half chosen space.

For example,

If you know that the bills must be paid and you know that there is no doubt that you will pay them,

Rather than moaning and worrying or getting cross at the system and the state of the economy,

All of which you can unlikely change in this moment.

You could say,

I choose to pay the bills and move on.

And in this way,

It's likely you will be able to move on with a whole lot more positive effectual potent energy intact than you would have if you'd expended your energy on futile stress,

Irritation and rumination before begrudgingly doing the inevitable.

I imagine you have heard the term freedom of choice.

Well,

It's time to really understand this and to know that personal active choice is available to us all,

For in the main,

We all have free will.

Here are some examples of choice statements that declare that I am the active part of my own life story.

I choose to wash the dishes.

I choose to work.

I choose not to work.

I choose to rest at this point of the day.

I choose to wear this uniform.

I choose to be silent.

I choose to write these lyrics.

I choose to not tidy up today.

I choose to stay at home.

I choose to cook this family meal.

I choose to scratch that itch.

This way of being is not just for the big things in life.

This is for your everythings.

Actively choose all day,

Every day and live within the frequency of freedom.

Do not let the world happen to you.

Rather choose how you happen in this world.

Thank you for choosing to spend this time with me.
