This practice begins with a body scan and some gentle seated moving exercises to get in touch with ourselves in the moment. We then move towards focusing on how we see and treat ourselves. The goal is to become aware of who we are, and learn to love and accept ourselves as we are in this moment.

Welcome to this meditation on accepting the self.

This meditation is to remind yourself of your abilities,

The beauty of being who you are,

And to reconnect with yourself.

Take some time before we get started with our meditation to get grounded in your body.

Find a seat or lie down and get comfortable.

Pay attention to each part of your body as you scan over it.

If you feel pain at all in any of these movements,

Stop the movement and focus on the sensation of pain without bringing judgment to it.

Begin by noticing your toes and giving them a wiggle.

Curl and flex your feet,

Diving into the sensations of the muscles moving.

There is no right or wrong way to feel as you explore the sensations in your body.

Roll the ankles clockwise and counterclockwise and notice any flexing in the calves.

Flex your thighs and buttocks and feel yourself grounded against the surface beneath you.

Gently find some movement in your back,

Maybe twisting slightly or finding a rocking motion.

Revel in the feeling of your movement and feel how good it is to be able to move and to control the sensory experience.

Roll your shoulders forwards and then back.

Allow your shoulders to settle deep down into their sockets,

Releasing any effort that holds them upwards.

Find some movement in your arms and roll your wrists.

Allow your attention to focus on the sensations without worrying about right or wrong or what you think you should be experiencing.

What you feel is exactly what is meant to be right now.

Tilt your head to the left and then to the right.

Stretch your jaw then close your eyes tightly then let go and relax.

Allow your body to settle deeply into your chosen posture.

Let go of any effort and find where you feel balanced,

Where your bones and joints stack naturally with the force of gravity.

How does your body feel?

Did you notice any particular sensations in your movements?

Whatever you felt and are feeling is right where you need to be.

There is nothing you need to do right now but be with yourself.

If you haven't already,

Close your eyes.

Try to notice your body as a whole as it moves and breathes for you.

Your body is made of love and support from the people who have cared for you in your life to your own self.

Allow yourself to feel grateful for the care is taken to bring you to this point.

Do you feel any resistance to trying to feel grateful?

Allow your thoughts to drift into your attention without fixating on them.

If you find yourself getting caught up in thoughts,

Bring your attention back to the body and the experience of being.

There is nowhere else to be but with your body as it is.

If you find your body tensing or any effort creeping into your posture,

Relax back down into your bones.

Let go of the tension.

You are enough.

You are worthy of the love and life you have been given.

Any thoughts that tell you otherwise are coming from a place of fear.

Acknowledge your thoughts but know that they do not speak the full truth of your capacity to grow.

The energy that goes towards critiquing and punishing the self is not necessary.

Would someone who loves you unconditionally speak to you in that way?

Pay attention to any sensations arising in your body as you think about this.

If it becomes overwhelming let go and focus into the rhythm of your breath.

For the next minute we are going to sit in silence.

Use this time to focus on the internal sensations.

You Relax back into your body and the earth.

Take a slow deep breath in and breathe out,

Releasing any tension.

You have done so much to come this far.

Thank yourself for all the growth and change you've been through to become who you are in this moment.

Let the gratitude soak deep into your body,

Saturating every part of it until you are nearly overflowing.

Remember that you are enough.

Take a deep breath in and hold it for a moment.

Then breathe out.

Once more,

Breathe in and breathe out.

When you are ready to finish bring some movement back into your body and then slowly allow your eyes to open.

Thank you for taking the time to meditate today.
