Welcome to this water element healing meditation.
In this practice we will explore water and its healing powers and we will invite in all the nourishment and the balancing that this beautiful element can bring us.
Especially if you are currently in the winter season wherever you are in the world.
Winter in traditional Chinese medicine belongs to the water element.
Then this practice can be extra nourishing for you.
But don't worry if you're fully in summer and you're on the other side of the world.
This meditation is of course still healing.
Especially if it called you.
So I invite you to get yourself in a comfortable position whether you're laying down or you're sitting upright.
I invite you to gently close your eyes and as you do so turning your awareness inside yourself.
We are always externally focused.
Now let's bring our focus internally.
Inside ourselves.
And just notice what's alive in you right now.
Notice the world of sensations.
The world of aliveness in your body.
And first we'll begin to feel into the water element.
Water can be very still.
Like a still lake.
And perhaps you too resonate with this stillness inside of you.
Maybe your mind feels still or your body.
Perhaps you see this reflected in your breath.
As you catch the small pauses in between each breath.
A small pause right before you inhale.
A small pause right before you exhale.
Stillness.
And just like the story of the Buddha who asked one of his students to bring him some clear water to drink from a nearby lake.
The student went to get the water from the lake but he saw that the water was all muddy and dirty and there was a lot of sand in the water.
So he went back to report to the Buddha and the Buddha told him to check back later again.
And the student was confused but after a while he returned to the lake and he saw that the mud had settled.
And the water was clear now.
The water was drinkable.
And so he brought the water to the Buddha and learned this lesson that sometimes it takes a bit of patience to let the sand settle.
To let the mud settle.
And to allow your water to be clear again.
Keep breathing gently and notice the sound of your breath now.
Notice how the sound of your breath mimics the ocean waves.
Notice how we are connected,
How we are a part of this planet.
Our breath moves like ocean waves,
Ebbing and flowing.
Allow the water,
Allow your breath to reach places that need cleansing.
Let the water rinse out.
Let the water cleanse and purify.
Breath like ocean waves.
Soft inhales that reach up to the points on your body that need cleansing.
And intentional exhales to release the old.
Let this water cleanse.
Let the waves heal.
When you feel this is completed and you have cleansed every cell in your body,
All the parts that were calling for this cleansing,
Healing,
You can allow your breath to return back to a normal pace.
Water carries.
Water flows.
Water always knows where it's going,
Even when it doesn't.
A river keeps flowing to end up in the ocean and realize it's part of something much bigger.
Can we learn to go with the flow,
Just like water?
Can we release holding on to old ways of being,
Of trying to swim against the stream?
Can we release so we too enter in this flow?
Let yourself be held.
Let yourself be carried by this water.
Water invites trust and washes away anxiety.
Water invites a deep sense of knowing that all is well and all will be well.
And releases any worries.
Any concerns.
Water knows the way.
Let it hold you.
Let yourself rest here,
In these waters.
Let yourself breathe in the healing elements and healing aspects of water.
And stay here for as long as you'd like.
Resting.
Breathing.
Whenever you feel ready to end this practice,
You can gently begin to wiggle your fingers and your toes and fully arrive back in the space that you are in.
Gently opening your eyes and fully orienting yourself in the room that you are sitting in or laying down in.
Carry the wisdom of water with you.
From my heart to yours,
Thank you.
Namaste.
