This meditation, "Building A Daily Mindfulness Routine For Kids” aims to familiarize children with mindfulness through simple, daily activities. It starts with finding a comfortable position and engaging in deep breathing to relax. The meditation focuses on creating 'mindful moments' at various points of the day—upon waking, at breakfast, during play, and before sleep—to cultivate awareness and gratitude. These moments, filled with engaging exercises like stretching, savoring food, appreciating playtime, and reflecting on the day's joys, encourage children to find happiness in the present. The session ends by reflecting on gratitude, emphasizing mindfulness as a tool for peace and presence in daily life.

Hello young friends.

Today we're going to take a special journey into the world of mindfulness.

It's going to be fun and peaceful.

Are you ready to create your very own mindful moments throughout the day?

Let's get started.

Firstly,

Find a comfy spot to sit or lie down.

You can sit on a cushion,

On the floor or in a chair.

Whether you're sitting down or lying down,

Make sure you're comfortable.

Place your hands gently on your lap or by your side.

And if you feel comfortable,

Gently close your eyes.

Let's pay attention to our breath.

Take a slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

Like you're smelling your favourite flower.

Now breathe out through your mouth,

As if you're blowing a dandelion.

Let's do it again.

Breathe in deeply.

Hold it for a moment and breathe out slowly.

Notice how you feel when you breathe in and out.

We're going to create some mindful moments now.

Imagine you have a magic wand to create special moments in your life.

These moments help you feel calm and happy.

Maybe it's when you wake up,

During breakfast,

While playing or before bedtime.

Morning magic.

When you wake up,

Stretch your body like a cat.

Say to yourself,

Today is a new day and I'm ready for adventure.

Breakfast bliss.

When you eat your breakfast,

Really taste your food.

Is it sweet?

Is it crunchy?

When you eat your breakfast,

Really taste your food.

Is it sweet?

Is it crunchy?

Think about how it makes your body feel strong and ready for the day.

During playtime,

Take a moment to look around and find something you're grateful for.

It could be your toys,

Your friends or the sun shining outside.

Before you go to sleep,

Think of three good things that happened today.

They can be small,

Like a smile from a friend.

Or big,

Like learning something new.

These are your mindful moments.

You can create them any time you need a pause or feel a little bit overwhelmed.

Now think of one thing you're grateful for today.

It could be someone you love,

A place that you enjoy or something you're looking forward to.

Hold that thought in your heart and feel the warmth it brings.

Now take one more deep breath in and slowly breathe out.

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

Gently open your eyes if they were closed.

Remember your magic wand of mindfulness can create special moments any time you need.

You did such a wonderful job today.

Carry these peaceful feelings and mindful moments with you throughout the day.

Until next time,

Take care and be kind to yourself and others.
