This is a meditation for mental clarity. Our meditation practice is not about controlling the mind, it is about understanding the tendencies of the mind. Through this practice we also come to understand the connection between our physical body, our energetic body, our mind and our breath. An imbalance in one creates a disturbance in another. When we sit to practice we work to harmonize each one, getting rid of any dissonance in the system. Overtime this is where our clarity comes from.

Take a few moments at this beginning stage of our guided practice together today to focus on the position of the physical body,

Moving into a space and feeling of complete comfort and ease.

Removing the distractions caused by any discomfort or unwanted tension will improve our focus and ability to flow with the waves of the mind.

Now that the physical body is set,

Let's take a moment to check in on the energetic body.

How are you feeling?

What is the first thought that came to mind when asked this question?

Are those waves of the mind,

Your thoughts,

Tumultuous or moving in and out,

More even and slow?

Take stock of your emotional state and consider what your intention is for this practice outside of the title.

Attention now to our breath,

The link that ties together our physical and energetic body.

Begin to slow down the movements of your breath through the nose,

Directing your inhale deep down into the abdomen,

Feeling your lungs expand down and outward into the belly,

Sides and back body.

On a slow and controlled exhale,

All of these feelings reverse,

Drawing inward.

Continue this pattern,

Slowing down the movement even more if you so choose and adding a pause of a few seconds at the top and bottom of each breath.

Our meditation practice is not about controlling the mind.

It is about understanding the tendencies of the mind.

Through this practice,

We also come to understand the connection between our physical body,

Our energetic body,

Our mind and our breath.

An imbalance in one creates a disturbance in another.

When we sit to practice,

We work to harmonize each one,

Getting rid of any dissonance in the system,

Even if for just a short while.

Over time,

This is where our clarity comes from.

Over time,

We increase the capacity of our mind to sift through the rapid waves of thoughts,

Identify what's important,

What we can let go of and become less reactive.

For the remainder of our practice,

We are going to choose an anchor for our focus,

For the mind,

A place to return to when we find ourselves wandering or being pushed out by the waves,

The essence of a meditation.

That anchor can be anything of your choosing that is consistent.

Your breath,

A spot on the floor in front of you,

The space between the eyebrows or another place on your body,

The music in the background.

Take a short moment to decide and get settled.

Just focus,

Wander,

Return.

Maintain your posture,

Maintain your inward focus.

This will be the practice for the next little while.

This will be the practice for the next little while.

This will be the practice for the next little while.

This will be the practice for the next little while.

This will be the practice for the next little while.

This will be the practice for the next little while.

This will be the practice for the next little while.

This will be the practice for the next little while.

This will be the practice for the next little while.

This will be the practice for the next little while.

Slowly begin to release your anchor,

Allowing it to become nothing but another wave receding into the ocean of the mind.

Clarity is a byproduct of stillness,

Stillness being the practice moments gone.

The more time we gift ourselves to study the tendencies of our mind,

The more clarity we should be able to obtain.

I hope this has helped you find some of what you are looking for,

Or at least a way towards it.

Until next time,

And with love,

Namaste.

I loved the idea of letting us chose our anchor, it was helpful. Thank you.
