Welcome to today's session.

This meditation will help you to connect to your body and build a more wholesome relationship with yourself.

To start you can stay seated or lay down,

Whatever feels most comfortable for you today.

If you're laying down just make sure that your neck and your head is flat and nothing constricts your breath.

First just check in with your body how it's feeling,

Is there any tension anywhere?

Any special focus that you need to send to any parts of your body?

You can try to relax your feet,

Your legs,

Your pelvis and your hips.

Take a deep breath in through your belly,

In through your nose and out through your nose and with every exhale just relax a bit further.

Make sure that your jaw is unclenched and that your teeth and tongue is nice and relaxed.

You can allow your eyes to close now if you haven't closed them yet and just feel how your body melts into the floor or the bed.

Soften and release any areas of physical tension.

Allow your attention to gently come into or stay in the body and focus on the flowing of your breath.

Now take the focus off of individual parts of your body and experience it as a whole,

Your whole body in unity.

When you feel ready in your mind's eye imagine a lake,

It can be any lake,

Maybe one you have visited before,

One you've only seen through pictures or one that you imagine right now to bring harmony,

Softness and peace within you.

Just bring that image into vivid focus in your mind's eye,

Notice how it's an extended body of water,

It's held within the earth's surface and perhaps it's fed by a spring or a stream.

If you just watch and observe this lake carefully you'll notice that it's always changing and yet it's also always itself,

It changes as the sun moves across the sky,

It changes with the light that's reflected off the water in different ways,

It changes depending on the weather,

Sometimes on calm days the surface might be like glass and it just reflects virtually everything,

Anything that comes by,

Clouds,

Birds,

The trees that might surround the lake,

The sun and there are also times when the lake is extremely reflective and contains in a certain way everything that comes by or over it,

Other times the surface might be choppy with lots of waves and it feels hard to be around it,

The lake also changes through the seasons depending on its location,

It might freeze over,

It might be covered in leaves and debris but deep down under all the waves,

The frost,

The ice,

The leaves,

The lake stays the same.

As you lie here experience the fullness of your own being,

So that even at times when your mind is choppy and upset or reactive or dealing with difficult things,

Burdens,

You can drop down beneath the surface of your own mind's waves and find a stillness,

A calmness that's always here,

It's always available to you with each moment,

With each breath,

Every time you're ready to dive beneath the surface,

Through your breath,

Through your awareness,

Through taking a moment like what you are doing right now,

Lying here under the canopy of your vast awareness,

Experiencing the moment-to-moment changes in your body and sensations,

Thoughts,

Feelings,

Impulses,

Sounds and all the while just like the lake,

Simply lying here,

Watching the play of the weather of your mind and body,

Allowing your awareness to hold it all,

Moment by moment,

Breath by breath,

In your own fullness,

In your own completeness,

Moment by moment.

You can take the next few minutes to just connect to your breath,

Experience your body,

Feel how there is deep gratitude that awakens in your heart and spreads all around your body,

Notice how you discovered who you really are beneath the surface,

Notice how your body is working for you every day without you noticing,

Despite all the burdens,

All the frost and debris that you put on it,

See yourself in the bright light of the Sun and let the gratitude that's washing through your body,

Remove all the stickiness in your bones,

All the heaviness,

The lumps,

The pain and just enjoy this moment.

You can stay in this meditation for as long as you need,

Otherwise feel free to start to wiggle your toes and your fingers,

Take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale through your mouth,

You can give yourself a big hug if you need it and if you're ready you can open your eyes.

Thank you for being here with me today and I will meet you in our next session.
