Welcome to this meditation for connecting with and healing the inner child.
Let's find a comfortable position and close your eyes.
As you settle in,
As you relax your body,
Let's take a breath together.
Inhale and exhale.
Let it go.
By breathing consciously,
We establish our awareness in the here and now,
In the present moment.
Again,
Inhale,
Present moment.
Exhale,
Present moment.
Last time,
Inhale,
Present moment.
And exhale,
Present moment.
Continue to focus on your breath.
Notice the inhale.
Notice the exhale.
As you breathe consciously,
Call to mind your inner child.
This can be the child we were at 5 years old,
10 years old,
Any age.
As we recognize the presence of our inner child,
We can make them welcome in this space,
In the here and now.
Imagine your child sitting next to you.
Give them space to settle in,
To relax.
Allow them to feel your presence in this moment.
Let's breathe together again,
This time inviting our inner child to breathe with us.
Let's all take an inhale and exhale.
We get to let that breath go.
Everyone together.
Inhale and exhale.
Let it go.
Inhale,
Present moment,
All of us together.
And exhale.
Let it go.
Release the breath.
For the next few moments,
Spend time with your inner child.
Perhaps have a conversation.
Take this opportunity,
If it feels right to you,
To speak to your inner child.
For example,
Acknowledge their presence by simply saying,
Hello.
I see you.
And I am here for you.
And I'm so happy that you're here with me.
Let's sit together.
You can also allow your inner child to know you are here as a protector or guardian.
You are here to look out for them.
And you are here to listen in case they have anything they want to share or talk about.
You could tell your child something like,
Please know I am always here for you.
And I will always support you.
And if you need anything from me,
Just ask.
Remember,
The inner child is not something from the past.
The inner child is always with us in the present moment.
The child that we were,
The teenager,
The young adult.
In the present moment,
All of these versions of who we were and who we are and who we will become come together.
For the next few moments,
Sit with your child.
Perhaps talk with your child.
Breathe with your child.
Reconnect or reestablish a relationship with your inner child.
Or simply share this space together.
Let's begin to bring our awareness back to the here and now.
Perhaps take the hand of your inner child.
Or give him or her a hug.
Thank them for visiting.
Before we say goodbye for now,
Let's take a breath together.
Inhale.
And exhale.
Release the breath.
If your eyes are closed,
Gently blink your eyes open.
