Namaste,

This is Debbie.

I will be guiding you through this yoga nidra practice,

Providing a safe environment where you may relax and soothe your nervous system.

Yoga nidra is a guided meditation where your body relaxes into deep sleep while your mind stays alert.

It involves lying comfortably in shavasana,

The corpse pose,

Or sitting comfortably in a chair.

At the same time,

I will guide you through a series of steps that help release physical,

Mental,

And emotional tension and achieve a state of deep relaxation.

The practice of yoga nidra is believed to be a powerful tool for stress reduction,

Insomnia,

Anxiety,

And other health issues.

Yoga nidra aims to reach a state of deep relaxation while remaining fully awake and aware,

Which can lead to a greater sense of inner peace,

Clarity,

And well-being.

It is a systematic method that uses the body's natural sleep cycles to guide the mind into conscious relaxation.

It will be a journey that starts with grounding on the earth and eventually rising to a cosmic adventure.

Make yourself comfortable whether lying on the ground in the traditional corpse pose or sitting in a comfy chair.

Grab whatever props you want to become as comfortable as possible.

You might want a pillow or bolster,

A blanket,

Or a covering for your eyes,

Such as an eye pillow,

Scarf,

Or wrap.

Adjust yourself or your clothing,

If necessary,

So that you can become even a little bit more comfortable.

Take a big breath in and a long exhale out in the form of a big sigh through your open mouth.

Release anything that isn't needed at this moment.

And one more time,

Big breath in,

Long exhale out.

Relax your jaw,

Release the tongue,

And smooth out the forehead.

Now is the time to bring in your Sankalpa,

A heartfelt desire for your life.

State the Sankalpa in the present tense as though it was already happening.

Repeat it three times silently to yourself.

This will plant the seed of cosmic energy deep inside your heart and subconscious,

Growing roots and blossoming fully.

Your Sankalpa is your universal guide for the direction of your life,

Helping you create the best you that you can be.

As we move through the body scan,

The rotation of consciousness is where I will state a body point.

Each point is a nerve-filled Nadia point.

As your awareness is focused on each point,

Healing energy will flow to that area.

You might imagine holding a paintbrush,

Brushing with a bright white or yellow glow,

And feeling the warm healing energy soaking into each point.

Bring awareness to the top of the head,

The crown chakra.

Make a paint splash or stroke and put a radiant bright light on top of the head.

Now move down to the point between the eyebrows,

The mind's eye.

Sweep your paintbrush across this point.

Bring awareness and paintbrush to the right eyebrow,

Temple,

Cheek,

Nostril,

And jaw.

Left eyebrow,

Left temple,

Left cheek,

Nostril,

Left jaw,

Right eye,

Eyelashes,

Eyelid,

Whole right eye,

And all the little micro muscles around the eye.

Left eye,

Eyelashes,

Eyelid,

Whole left eye,

And all the little micro muscles around the eye.

Move awareness,

Your paintbrush,

All around the heart center.

Shanti Ishta,

The sacred heart.

Now bring your awareness to the breath,

The Durga breath,

Or three-part breath.

Breathe into the belly,

Breathe deeper into the ribs,

And even deeper into the upper chest,

All around the clavicle,

Above and below.

Now strong release out through the mouth.

Continue this three-part breathing for a few moments at your own pace.

Breathing into the belly,

Ribs,

And upper chest.

Long exhale out through the mouth.

Feel your whole body resting and relaxing.

Can you imagine how your body feels when it is energetic?

Notice where you feel the energetic energy.

Is it through the whole body,

Or in a centralized location?

Feel energetic.

Now imagine your body feeling tired,

So tired.

The whole body tired.

Now move back to energetic.

Feel the energetic body.

Now feel the tired body.

And now can you imagine the body feeling both energetic and tired simultaneously?

No judgment,

No emotion.

Energetic and tired at the same moment.

Energetic,

Tired.

Energetic,

Tired.

Now release and feel how your whole body is relaxed.

Visualize yourself traveling up a steep curving mountain road,

Climbing higher and higher into the red cliffs of the high desert mountains in the southwest.

You enjoy the aspen trees mixed in with the pine trees.

After some time you reach your destination campsite.

You start setting up your tent.

As you are preparing your campsite,

You notice the sounds around you.

What can you hear?

Maybe birds singing.

The rustle of the leaves on the aspen trees.

Animals scurrying in the underbrush.

Squirrels chattering as they climb the pine trees.

Bring your awareness to your nose and the scents you can smell.

Notice the sense of clover,

Wild rose,

And pine needles covering the ground with the smell of damp dirt from recent rainfall.

Move your awareness to your eyes and take in the sights surrounding your campsite.

Tall trees,

Rugged red cliffs,

Blue sky,

Wisps of white clouds.

Notice if you can taste anything.

Maybe your lips carry the taste of fresh mountain air.

Might you feel the cool mountain air blowing gently on your skin?

Imagine yourself gathering firewood to light a small campfire.

Your sleeping bag is set up in the tent.

You may even put down blankets for the two large dogs,

Your beloved pets,

Who have accompanied you on this journey.

The sun is sinking lower in the sky.

You prepare your dinner in a single pan over the fire.

The dogs enjoy the freedom of exploring the area and chasing squirrels.

As the sky darkens,

You finish your meal,

Gather belongings and pets,

And crawl into the tent.

You can see the sky out the window just above your head.

You notice the stars starting to sparkle in the dark sky.

You feel the night air cooling down.

You feel safe and secure in this outdoor setting,

Inviting peace and relaxation.

Take a few moments to enjoy this outing and the comfort it brings you.

Imagine yourself slipping off to sleep while gazing up at the Milky Way.

Imagine yourself soaring around the cosmic stars as you float away.

Visualize your body floating,

Flying,

No gravity.

Bring in your sankalpa,

Your life's desire,

The divine seed of the direction of your life.

State it three times now,

Silently to yourself,

Knowing that this seed of intention is already growing and has strong roots.

It's time to complete your journey.

Gather your camping items,

Round up the dogs,

Round up the dogs,

Start making your way back down the mountain.

Bring yourself back into the room,

Back into your body.

Big breath in,

Strong exhale.

Noticing the sounds around you.

Noticing how your body feels.

Sat Chit Ananda.

Sat Chit Ananda.

Sat is eternal existence.

Chit,

Eternal consciousness.

Ananda,

Eternal joy.

You might start wiggling your fingers and toes.

Nod your head back and forth.

Maybe stretch.

Open your eyes slowly.

Taking in your surroundings.

The practice of yoga nidra is complete.

Hari Om Tat Sat.

Hari Om Tat Sat.

Hari Om Tat Sat.
