Hey,

I'm Chibs Okereke.

Welcome to The Daily Striver.

Today,

We're talking about something that's easy to overlook,

But incredibly important.

Rest.

In a world where progress is often equated with constant work,

High achievers like us tend to forget that rest isn't just a break from progress,

It's a vital part of it.

For people like us,

Pushing through exhaustion can sometimes feel like it's the only way to succeed.

But the truth is,

Real growth happens when we give ourselves permission to rest and recharge.

Today,

We're going to explore how rest can be one of your most powerful tools for reaching your goals.

Let's get into it.

Today,

We're going to move our attention into the body,

And we're going to do a body scan as we welcome a sense of rest and relaxation.

We'll start at the feet and slowly move all the way up to the head.

So let's begin by bringing awareness to your feet,

Allowing them to fall naturally to the side,

And relaxing the feet.

And relaxing the legs,

The calves,

The shins,

The knees,

The upper legs.

Letting go of tension and noticing any sensations of relaxation.

Relaxing the hips and pelvis.

Relaxing the back,

The lower back,

The middle back,

The shoulder blades.

Relaxing the arms,

Shoulders,

The upper arms,

The elbows,

The forearms,

The wrists.

And relaxing the hands.

Moving our awareness into the belly,

Noticing the belly rising on the inhale,

And softening on the exhale.

Relaxing the chest.

Relaxing the neck and the throat.

Relaxing the face.

The jaw,

Cheeks,

The eyes,

Forehead.

Relaxing the back of the head.

And relaxing the top of the head.

Now let's expand our awareness,

Moving our attention through the entire length of the body,

And the top of the head to the tips of the fingers and tips of the toes.

We're resting,

Letting go,

Allowing our body to find balance.

Okay,

Good.

Now that we're relaxed and centered,

I want you to think about your relationship with rest.

Ask yourself,

Do you allow yourself to take breaks during your day?

Or do you push through,

Thinking that more work equals more success?

Consider the idea that rest isn't just a pause,

But a necessary part of your journey,

An essential tool that helps you recharge and come back stronger.

Now take a deep breath in,

And out.

As you breathe in,

Imagine that you're recharging your energy with every inhale.

And as you breathe out,

Let go of any tension or stress that you've been holding on to.

I used to believe that working non-stop was the key to success.

I pushed myself to the limit,

Thinking that if I just worked harder,

I'd achieve more.

But that approach led to my burnout.

Now I view rest as a strategic part of my routine.

Rest is a tool that helps me perform at my best,

Not something that takes me away from my goals.

As you go through your day,

Think about how you can incorporate more rest into your life.

Maybe it's taking a short nap during the day,

Going for a walk or simply sitting quietly for a few minutes to clear your mind.

Remember,

Rest isn't a break from progress,

It's a crucial part of it.

Whenever you start to feel overwhelmed,

Tense or tired,

Give yourself permission to take a break.

It's an investment in your long-term success and will help you come back stronger and more focused.

As William Wordsworth once said,

Rest and be thankful.

Take this mindset with you and see how it transforms your approach to both work and life.

And if you haven't already done so,

Feel free to crack open the eyes.

Thank you for joining me today and I'll see you tomorrow for the Daily Striver.
