This is a short poem I have written, inspired by sitting and relaxing on a warm summer's evening. Taking in the atmosphere, the sounds and warmth, the poem thinks briefly about what it is to just be, calm and free in the beauty of the world around us. I hope you enjoy this short poem. Thanks to DMD Production on Pixabay for the backing sounds.

Evening of July.

The window stands open,

As wide as it'll go.

Warmth wafts on air everywhere about,

The breeze caressing as a loving hand on the cheek.

The sun's blazing orb nods towards the horizon,

Tainting the sky there tangerine and ochre,

Bronzes,

Golds and waxing violets.

Deep as sunlight beckons night,

But still to come,

Whispers of cloud dot that scene.

Minute in the scale of the grand illumination,

Echoes of all around bounce about the room like tiny dancers,

People,

Tyres,

Birds in song and whispered warmth of breeze.

No rain will come tonight,

No storm or tempest come to shatter this peace.

With nature's sacred duty,

Balance,

Harmony,

The peace endures.
