Hello,

Welcome.

My name is Christy.

I trust you are feeling well.

Today our discussion is on Meditation Limiting Belief Numero Los and that is,

I can't clear my mind.

It is just too hard.

This is such a common response.

It actually has truth behind it for all of us,

Even those who have been meditating for a lifetime.

In our daily life we think too much and when we think too much we are not really ourselves.

We are in the past or anticipating the future.

Most of our thinking is habitual.

We tend to live our lives on autopilot and unless we stop for a moment and check in with ourselves we may never know that our thoughts are sabotaging our peace,

Our relationship and our growth.

Our body may be here but the mind may be elsewhere.

I am not sold on the fact that the entire purpose of meditation is to cease thinking.

Rather it's becoming conscious of our thoughts that are consuming space in our mind and then refocusing so they no longer control our present nature.

These thoughts have a way of making us believe they hold truth to who we are even when they are nothing but a thought.

So then with observation during the stillness of meditation over time we are given the opportunity to reprogram our state.

A mouthful huh?

So this is why we want to meditate.

Not to clear the mind but instead to observe and be conscious of what our thoughts are.

The more often we are able we have the ability to train ourselves outside of meditation.

It is during the concentration of the breath you begin to be where the body is.

You can stop thinking and be yourself.

Being aware of your in-breath and being aware of your out-breath.

This actuality of the in and out is the knowing.

Let's look at it in another way.

Remember how in our last discussion we did a quick breathing meditation?

I had asked you to follow the flow of your breath acknowledging any thoughts and then letting them go.

When I started my meditation practice my mind was all over the place and guess what it still is.

However I am able to catch myself and change my state a lot quicker than before.

That is what this practice is.

Becoming aware when we are foggy with racing thoughts.

Learning to notice them and then directing the focus back to whatever it was that you choose to focus on in your sitting meditation.

I found it very helpful during my first year of practice,

Hence the word we are practicing,

To use guided meditations.

Message me for suggestions if you want.

So think of guided meditation as like a personal trainer at the gym.

One suggestion that I heard to help was prior to meditating you can physically write out your to-do list.

So you trick your mind out of sabotaging your meditation.

Thoughts are like raindrops.

They start coming and we can choose to let them pass or hold on to them.

Now if you will I would love for us to sit in silence and practice gratitude.

Gratitude for our health,

Gratitude for our breath,

Gratitude for whatever you are grateful for.

Remembering that practicing gratitude can assist in quieting the mind amongst a multitude of other beautiful benefits.

Take a deep breath in,

Exhale it out.

Being receptive to all that is right here and right now.

May you have a beautiful day.
