This poem addresses the experience of coming home. It deals with the struggle of overcoming the challenges of finding that place and returning. The poem references the hangups we have when considering "home" and the varied forms that "home" may take. As you listen, allow yourself to consider the unconditional love of "home", where you can truly be yourself and find peace.

This is not the first time you've returned.

Nor the second.

Or third.

You have lost count.

But still it waits for you.

That sanctuary.

Hallowed refuge.

Immune to the feral,

Edge of evil you skirt.

Games of chance.

Knowingly you submit yourself to decadent,

Self-indulged arenas.

Adrift.

Disregarding your true nobility.

Feeding that diseased penchant for the narrow occasion.

The elusive and costly apex.

You know you punish yourself.

Holding tightly to the shadows.

Luxuriating in the torment.

The misery.

A familiar face.

A seductive assistant.

One you know and have known for a long time.

A recurring chapter.

But it doesn't define you.

No matter of fault.

Yours.

Mine.

Reverberations of cause or effect.

Time.

But you have come home before.

And again.

In the face of an undying war.

You will return.

As often as it takes.

For as many years as you live.

Worthy of the fight.

You will return.

To love.

Where pain is erased and forgotten are hurts.

Missteps took.

The way others were treated.

Or you mistreated yourself.

No reminders of trauma past.

Your presence is enough.

To heal.

Begin again.

The seedling of new growth.

Renewal.

Welcome back.

Whether a short while.

Or a prolonged journey.

You are accepted here.

Where you are not judged.

Not broken.

Because brokenness is a portion of you.

And you are whole.

Allow yourself to experience joy in this haven.

You are not in control.

And surrender sets you free.

This place of warmth.

Unconditional love.

Forgiveness.

A place of laughter or tears.

Without pretense.

Where you are is sufficient.

Sheltered in safety.

Completeness.

Absent of fear.

Bad habits surrendered.

Muted is grief.

A physical space.

Or within yourself.

With family,

Friends,

Or solitude.

Where you are.

At your brink.

Taking steps.

The beginning or end.

Home is harmony.

With the direction of the universe.

The currents of life.

The movements of the planets.

The flow of the divine.

Know and hold peace.

You are in the flow.

Revitalized.

Reminded of all life's good.

Take a seat at the table.

Enter into the generosity of heaven's wide embrace.

Let go.

Be here.

And be whole.

Return often,

It's okay.

Come home.
