This meditation is intended for those who have encountered a blockage point in meditation and are finding they have become stuck or frustrated on the path to inner peace. Often we encounter a plateau where practice was previously giving peace, energy and space it has now become frustrating, dull and yielding no results. By releasing expectations and observing how the mind has enshrouded the experience of meditation through conceptualizing, expecting and anticipating we can return to the initial space of peace, bliss and joy first encountered in the early days of your practice. This will breathe new life into your practice and open up new pathways to enjoy.

Beginning by letting go of all expectations regarding meditation.

Don't try to relate this meditation to previous meditations,

Or try to achieve a certain state that you may have experienced before.

Instead,

Just starting now,

Beginning where you are,

Just let go of any expectation or anticipation.

As though this were the first meditation you ever did.

Just starting now,

Just this.

No techniques,

No methods,

No practice.

Just let go,

Release,

And just be.

Allow yourself to not know what meditation is.

Allow yourself to not know anything at all.

Knowing is not necessary,

Just be.

As though this were the very first moment you sprang into existence,

Just now.

Nothing to try and figure out.

Everything's already happening.

There's nothing to understand.

Everything just is.

So nothing to expect,

Anticipate,

Nowhere to try and go or reach.

Regarding the body,

Just leave it alone.

And the mind,

Just leave it alone.

Allow experience to be raw,

Neat.

It can be intense and unfiltered.

Do not mitigate or diminish the present experience.

Just let reality be its usual intense vividness.

And placing no framework over this,

No model,

No image,

No story.

Just leave everything alone to be what it is.

We can fall into the habit of trying to meditate in an effort to get away from experience,

To get away from the mind,

Away from the body,

Away from the world.

There is no harm in this.

But this can begin to cause frustration in the form of avoidance,

Which is a type of resistance.

So open to all of the experience now.

And a sense of accepting the present experience.

Don't try to get away from it.

Don't try to avoid or resist it.

Just experience now.

And if there is avoidance or resistance in the present experience that you can notice,

Just accept that as well.

It can be here.

How interesting.

That too can be seen,

Integrated.

It's part of the intensity of now.

So taking a few moments here to release all expectations or anticipations.

Allow yourself to fall into a total unknowing.

No idea what meditation is.

No idea what we're supposed to be trying to do.

Nowhere that we're trying to go.

Just release all of that.

A sense of starting now.

And there is no need to avoid any element of your present experience,

Even if it's ordinarily seen to be uncomfortable or unpleasant.

Just allow it as well.

Give a little space to everything.

And noticing that experience begins to collect in the mind,

As though the mind was a sort of workbench.

The present experience tends to creep towards the mind and the mind begins to try to cognitively understand and pick apart and analyze and categorize and memorize and just leave all of that.

Just notice that's beginning to happen and release,

Let go.

Just now,

Just all as well.

Open,

Expand.

There's nothing to be done.

Nothing to understand.

Just let go.

In a moment,

We will be leaving the formal aspect of this meditation.

And just notice as we do so,

The mind has a tendency to leap out of its hiding place and grab hold of your attention once again.

Just notice that it's doing this.

It's okay,

It can do that.

This form of meditation,

Just releasing expectations and just noticing a tendency to try and escape is just a very powerful reminder to revisit occasionally,

As we sometimes do get attached and fixated on specific practices.

And that can sometimes be counterproductive.

Not always,

But sometimes.

If you ever find yourself stuck on your journey to finding true inner peace and awakening,

Just remember to let go once in a while.

It's all been done for you,

So to speak.

Thank you so much for doing this meditation with me today.

Take care,

Be well,

And stay present.
