Oftentimes us humans use what we feel like in any given moment as a legitimate excuse to not do what we know that we need to do to keep growing and expanding. Cultivating the discipline to do what needs to be done regardless of what we feel like is one of the cornerstones of mastery in any area of our lives, and as we keep awakening, learning to master ourselves and our minds is one of the lessons we need to learn. I invite you to join me as we explore this to set ourselves free.

Blessings and welcome to the path to freedom.

My name is Daniel Roquejo and as always I'm deeply grateful and honored and privileged that you're choosing to join me,

That you're choosing to participate in your own awakening.

And that I get to participate in your own awakening.

So thank you so much for allowing me to be of service.

The theme for today is don't let what you feel like get in the way.

Don't let what you feel like get in the way.

And this has something to do with our human tendency to be lazy and undisciplined and give our feelings or our emotions too much credit.

Because as we walk along this path of awakening and along this path of freedom,

As we catch insights as to what we need to do,

All of this is about doing the inner work necessary to keep moving forward,

To keep growing,

To keep expanding,

To keep unfolding.

And as we cannot ride on the wings of any other individual,

It is all up to us to do the work.

And so it all comes down to practice.

It all comes down to us continuously being willing to expand our practice,

Whatever that means to us as individuals.

But oftentimes I hear people say and I hear individuals say that perhaps they have caught that they are to meditate,

That they need to meditate on a daily basis.

And I'll hear them say that,

Ah,

I didn't meditate yesterday because I didn't feel like it.

Or I didn't feel like making a healthy,

Cooking a healthy dinner.

So I went out and bought pizza instead or fried chicken.

Or I didn't feel like going into prayer.

I don't feel like praying right now.

I'd much rather binge watch Netflix or watch my favorite series or my favorite show or whatever the case may be.

And however valid and legitimate these excuses and these reasons may seem,

Our level of discipline and spiritual discernment,

Which in this case means our ability to discern what serves us and what does not serve us.

And what serves our growth and what does not serve our growth.

What serves our expansion and what does not serve our expansion.

What serves our awakening and what does not serve our awakening.

This level of discipline and spiritual discernment is directly connected to our awakening.

Now I'm not saying that awakening is about doing.

Because it's not.

There are actions that we need to take.

But awakening is about being.

It is about a state of consciousness.

It is about sustaining an ever higher vibration.

But that expansion,

That growth,

All the insights that we catch,

All the realizations that we catch,

They arise out of the being.

And so if we have identified that we are to meditate on a daily basis,

Or that we are to,

Whenever we catch ourselves being upset with someone or having been triggered by someone,

We are to move into prayer.

And we are to bless that individual rather than strike back or seek revenge or whatever the case may be.

And if we catch ourselves excusing ourselves not to do what we need to do,

What we know we need to do,

Then that's not a valid excuse.

Then that is not a legitimate excuse.

We cannot let what we feel like doing or not doing in any given moment stand in the way or get in the way of us doing what we know that we need to do in order to keep moving forward,

In order to keep growing,

In order to keep awakening.

Now I'm not saying that we are never to fall.

We are never to fall short of our intentions.

Because obviously we will,

And obviously we do all of the time.

We fall all of the time.

When we fall,

We get back up.

But that's not what this is about.

And so imagine an Olympic athlete,

Let's say a swimmer.

And this individual is training for the Olympics.

And they have set their mind,

And they have set the intention,

And they have set a goal to peak their performance at the Olympics,

Whatever that means for them.

But they are to peak their performance for the Olympics.

And so in order to be able to do that,

They have outlined a training schedule,

Different levels and different dimensions and different focus areas and whatever the case may be.

But they have a training schedule.

And do you think if they are truly serious,

And if they truly want to honor their intention to peak their performance at the Olympics,

Do you think that they would skip practice one day,

Lay on the couch,

Eat chocolate?

Or instead of practicing going out to buy fast food or fried food or pizza or whatever the case may be,

Do you think that they would?

No,

They would not.

But they would stick to their training program,

Regardless of whether they feel like it or not.

Sometimes their very best at practice or their very best in practice will not be as good as perhaps yesterday.

But that's not the point either.

The point is that they would honor their intention,

And they would honor their having said yes to doing what they need to do to peak their performance at the Olympics.

And how is this relevant for us who are not seeking to peak our performance at any given day or time or anything like that?

Well,

The principles are the same.

Discipline births freedom.

Doing what we need to do,

Regardless of whether we feel like it or not,

Births the growth and the expansion.

As well as self-respect and self-love,

Which are not to discard or belittle in any way,

Shape or form.

But doing something,

Actually doing something to the very best of our ability,

Even when we don't feel like doing it,

That builds powerful spiritual muscles.

Powerful spiritual muscles that we need.

We need these muscles.

We need the spiritual strength.

We need the spiritual discipline to keep moving forward.

And so,

Have we set the intention to pray daily?

Have we set the intention to meditate daily?

Then that is what we're going to stick to if we're wise,

And if we want to honor ourselves,

Even if we want to honor our journey and this path and our awakening and us becoming ever more conscious.

So that is my invitation,

That whenever you catch yourself considering not engaging in what you know you need to do to keep moving forward,

Just because you don't feel like it in this particular moment,

I invite you to build your spiritual discipline muscles and go do it anyway.

Go do it anyway.

All right.

Thank you so much for tuning in.

Thank you so much for listening.

Thank you so much for being a willing and conscious participant in the involvement and the growth and the expansion of who and what you are,

Your soul.

Until the next time,

I bless,

Bless,

Bless your day and I bless,

Bless your way.

Namaste.

Thank you so much. As always very wise and inspiring. My “problem” right now is to be cool about that the work life is speeding up and creating “hindrances” to my daily yoga/pranayama/meditation practice - of course this is difficult for you to answer - but how much should we compromise? I mean the way the society is organized in terms of work/school environments is very contradictory to human soul growth and development. We see the negative signs everywhere if we care to look. Namaste 🙈😳🙏

This makes me think about balance, and the importance of applying discipline as a path to self-love🦋

Just what I needed before bed. The part about Netflix really got to me. I choose to binge watch rather than engage in healthy practice. I will return to this often. Thank you!
