So talking about reflecting and looking back over time.

We often find ourselves looking at expectations,

The things that we have set for ourselves usually,

And many of us get frustrated with this part of reflection because we see all the things that we didn't accomplish,

The things that we don't get done,

The things that our brain deems as failures.

Hear that again,

Our things our brain deems as failures.

And I would like you to consider for a moment that perhaps we don't actually align with those expectations and that ends up being the reason that we weren't able to meet them.

Did we set an unrealistic expectation?

Were they possibly expectations put on us by others in our lives?

As you continue to reflect,

Consider your expectations and explore why some of them may have fallen short.

Is the expectation you set really where you'd like to go?

Or is it something you've seen everyone else do?

Is it something that you feel like you have to do based on watching others?

Are you truly connected to that expectation?

If so,

You might find yourself definitely still connected to these things.

If so,

Reassess that and then determine how you can move forward in meeting it.

If not,

If it doesn't align with you,

If it doesn't feel like it's somewhere that you actually want to be going,

Then let it go.

We hold on to a lot of things and carry a lot of things.

And one of those is expectations.

And so I want you to think about why you have this expectation of yourself and then decide if it's something that you're going to continue forward with.

It's really,

Really,

Really,

Really easy to get stuck in the feelings of frustration and disappointment.

The brain is really good at seeing things that we didn't do.

It's good at seeing the things that we feel went wrong.

It's good at seeing all of those things that we use,

Honestly,

To hold us back.

We don't have to let those feelings define us.

So acknowledge them.

Acknowledge that this is frustrating.

Acknowledge that you're disappointed.

Acknowledge that you're upset about something.

But then find a way to work through it so you can continue on your journey without allowing that to hold you back.

We all have these feelings.

We all get disappointed,

Frustrated,

Upset,

You name it.

And the difference between people who stay stuck and the people who start getting momentum is not letting those feelings hold us back.

Sometimes we hold on to things that are no longer serving us.

We kind of just covered that.

That can be recognized through reflection.

So we can uncover things that are weighing on our shoulders,

Stuff that's taking up space in our brains,

And anything that's kind of making us feel stuck or something on our to-do list that's not getting done.

We can slow down and we can look at why and what really aligns with us and what we want in life.

Is something on our to-do list not happening because it's really not what we want to be doing?

Probably.

Some things we do need to do,

But some things maybe it's for a later date.

Maybe it's not right now,

And that's okay.

So I want you to think about if there's something in your life that you have found yourself trying to do,

And then think about are you truly aligned with it?

Are you really wanting that in your life?

And then from there you can decide how to move forward.

So reflection can uncover a lot of really amazing things that we miss.

It can uncover some hard and challenging things as well.

And so I encourage you to work through them.

Reach out for support as you go and take space for this because it is important work.
