#105. From Individual Consciousness To God | VBT
As the consciousness crystallizes, it must evolve towards an infinite expansion a.k.a. God-consciousness. Bhairava in Tantra gives a meditation technique that helps: "O Bhairavi, when the mind, limited awareness, the energy, and the individual self dissolve, then that state is Bhairava." Let's meditate together upon it, Dhyanse.

Namaste everyone.
A very warm welcome to all of you in this live meditation session with me,
Dhyansa.
We are meditating on 112 meditation techniques of Vigyan Bhairav Tantra.
In the last week's session,
We took a journey from being a crowd to being an individual,
To discovering our own true voice,
Our own true self,
Our individuality,
Moving from the crowd,
From all the voices that are there in our head,
The voices of our family,
The voices of neighbours,
The voices of people around us,
Of society,
Of culture,
Of religion,
From all those voices,
The voices of the crowd,
Driving your life here and there,
To taking charge of your life,
To once again discovering your own voice,
Your own individuality,
By silencing all these voices in the mind,
By attaining to a silence where there is no crowd in you,
And in that silence only your voice rising up,
Your own true voice,
And you driving your life,
You moving into your life with your own voice,
With your true individuality.
That journey we took in the past session,
And I told you that the journey is incomplete,
The journey is half the circle.
In today's session,
We will complete that circle.
We will take the rest half of this journey,
From the crowd to the individual,
But from the individual,
Where do we go further?
Before we explore in this session,
Where do we go further,
Why do we need to move beyond individuality?
What is it about the individuality,
About living this self,
Living a single voice in ourselves,
What is wrong with that?
Is this something insufficient?
Why is there a need,
An urge,
To move further in the spiritual journey,
To develop ourselves further,
Our consciousness further,
Towards something that is even more than the individual voice?
Think about it,
Bigger,
Higher than your own voice,
Can there be a voice that is more relevant to your life than your own voice?
To contemplate on that,
Think about this voice that you have now of your own,
This individual voice,
Where is this leading to?
What is this searching?
If this individual voice just remains like that in you,
This is very quickly accompanied by your ego.
And with the crowd of your own desires,
Earlier the crowd in your mind was the crowd of the society of other people that had gathered in your mind,
That were telling you what to do,
What not to do in life.
But as you have sorted that crowd,
As you have found your own voice,
Your own voice is always alone.
In that aloneness,
That voice tries to find something to hold on to,
Then it develops its own desires.
Your own desires start forming the crowd in you.
Your own voice gives you a void,
It feels alone,
It feels that it needs something more,
It starts looking for something else outside.
It also is a form of a search,
It always is feeling incomplete.
Your own voice,
Your own individuality is not enough.
It is half the journey because it gives you an ego,
It gives you the crowd of desires.
So Tantra says,
Take the full journey,
Don't stop in the middle,
Don't take the journey half way,
Don't leave the circle half,
Don't turn around when you have already moved from the crowd to the individual.
Don't stop in the middle and turn around and go back to the crowd.
Keep moving forward.
Two golfers,
They were friends golfing,
One of them said to the other,
He said,
I think I have left my jacket at the previous tee,
Let me go there and get my jacket.
So he went half way to the tee,
Saw two women over there and he immediately turned around and went back to his friend.
His friend said,
What happened?
Why did you turn around half way and came back?
He said,
Over there at the tee,
You see those two women standing,
One of them is my wife and the other one is my mistress.
The friend,
He laughed,
He said,
Alright,
Don't worry,
I will get you that jacket,
You don't have to go there.
The other friend,
He went towards the tee,
Half way through as he saw the women,
He turned around,
He also came back.
The first friend asked,
What happened?
Why did you also came back?
The second friend said,
Small world,
Same situation.
Don't turn around half way and come back,
Don't go back from your individuality to the crowd.
Once again,
Going back to listening to the crowd,
Engaging in whatever the society,
The politics,
The external world is telling you to do.
Maintain your individuality,
That is the half the circle and from there,
Once you have found your true voice,
You complete the rest half of the circle.
What is that rest half?
What is the end goal?
What is the destination?
Tantra says,
From crowd to individuality,
From individual consciousness to God consciousness.
The moment we say God consciousness,
Immediately ideas come up in our mind,
Personifications come up in our mind,
Belief systems come up in our mind,
Religious ideas come up in our mind.
Tantra is not concerned with any of the ideologies,
Any of the visualizations that you have of the God.
For Tantra,
God is simply pure consciousness,
That infinite expanded consciousness,
Which is not limited as your individual consciousness,
As your individual self.
So Tantra says,
Until you move from the individual self to this expanded consciousness,
From individual consciousness to infinite consciousness,
Where there is no self,
Until you move to no self,
Until you reach and attain to no self,
The journey is not complete,
The circle is not complete,
You are turning half ways or you are just standing in the middle,
Halfway between the crowd and your destination,
The realization of God consciousness.
Not in the ideologies of religious beliefs and systems,
But simply in your consciousness,
Beyond ideologies,
Beyond words,
In your experience,
A state which has no self.
A state which has expanded consciousness,
A state in which your energies are completely liberated.
See that the overall journey is from crowd consciousness in you,
To individual consciousness in you,
To God consciousness in you,
To several selves in you,
To your self,
Your individual self in you,
To no self in you,
Until you reach to no self,
Until you reach to this expanded consciousness,
Without any contents,
Without any individuality,
Without even the sense of collective,
No contents in your consciousness,
Until you reach to that point,
Tantra says,
Keep moving forward towards this goal of God consciousness.
Let us listen to Bhairava,
What he has to say in Vigyan Bhairava Tantra,
As his guidance to take us from the crowd to the individual,
From the individual to the God consciousness.
Bhairava says,
Manasam cetana shaktir atma ceti chaturstayam yada prye parikshinam tadatad bhairvam vapur What that means is manasam,
Mind,
Cetana,
This limited awareness,
Shakti,
The energy of the breath,
The prana,
Atma,
The individual self,
This set of four.
So what Bhairava is saying,
These four things in you,
Your mind,
Your awareness,
This limited awareness,
Your energies,
This prana energy that you have,
And your individual self,
When all these four dissolve in you,
Only when all these four dissolve in you,
Then there is a state of Bhairava.
O Bhairavi,
When the mind,
The awareness,
The energy,
And individual self,
This set of four dissolves,
Then the state of Bhairava manifests.
The state of Bhairava in Vigyan Bhairava Tantra is equivalent to the God consciousness.
Words to explain this God consciousness in Tantra,
In Vigyan Bhairava Tantra is Bhairava.
The state of Bhairava,
The infinite consciousness.
Here Bhairava is saying,
When you have reached to that individuality,
You have gathered to your mind,
You have gathered to your awareness,
You have gathered to your self,
To your energies,
Now is the time to dissolve all that,
So that you can move to the infinite,
So that you can expand into the infinite.
Otherwise,
You will keep on holding on to your mind,
The ideas that you will get in your mind,
Since they are arising out of your own mind,
You will be very proud of them,
You will be very egoistic about them,
You will hold on to them.
In your individual awareness,
Which is very empowering,
You will never see the need of expanding that awareness.
Therefore,
Bhairava wants you to even dissolve this sense of individual awareness.
Then the energies that are there in you,
These are limited energies,
And until you dissolve your energies into the infinite,
This possibility of expansion is not there.
And your individual self.
So these four have to be dissolved in the silence of meditation.
The mind,
The awareness,
The energies and the self.
See that in yoga,
As a tradition,
As a practice,
As a discipline,
There is the dissolution of consciousness and energy.
So the awareness and energy,
The dissolution,
The synthesis of the two to reach to this expanded consciousness.
In Tantra,
The scope is even wider.
Tantra does not leave any dimension untouched.
He says,
Bhairava in Vigyan,
Bhairav Tantra says,
Bring everything in together and let it dissolve.
All dimensions,
Your mind,
Your self,
Your awareness,
Your energies,
Put all of them in the crucible of silence.
Let all of them dissolve in silence.
And what will rise out of this silence,
Upon this dissolution,
Is this expanded consciousness,
A state of Bhairava.
How to do that as a meditation?
You will use breath as the basis to move into this meditation.
You will load your breath with the energy first.
You will dissolve the energies on your breath first.
In your silence,
In your meditation,
As you are sitting,
As you are breathing,
In that awareness of the breath,
You will bring the energies that you are feeling in those moments,
Let them dissolve in the sense of the breath.
Then you will bring your mind,
All your thoughts,
All your ideas,
Whatever is going on in your mind.
You will bring your mind to your breath.
You will bring your awareness to your breath.
You will bring your self to your breath.
Everything you will bring to your breath.
And as you do that,
Your breath becomes more and more silent.
Comes a point where the breath is also no more.
So from you breathing normally,
Being aware of the breath,
Allowing all these four to dissolve in your breath,
And reaching to a state of silence where your breath is almost not there anymore.
Where your breath is so silent that you do not even feel anything,
Not even the physical motion of the breath.
Forget about these four sets of mind,
Of awareness,
Of self and energies.
So bringing all these four together on your breath as you do breath awareness,
And reaching to a silence where breath is no more,
These four are no more,
And you are in a state of pure consciousness.
Please close your eyes.
And take a posture that is comfortable for you.
Your body at rest.
In balance.
Rested yet alert.
And your awareness turned inwards towards your breath.
Allowing the breath to flow naturally.
Taking these moments to become aware of your breath.
Bringing your mind to your mind.
Bringing your mind to your breath.
Thought directed to your breath.
Thinking about the breath.
And constantly directing your mind to your breath.
Thank you.
Your awareness.
On the breath.
Your mind on the breath.
And you are in a state of pure consciousness.
All your energies in observing the breath.
From all directions,
Awareness,
Mind,
Energies on your breath.
Thank you.
And your sense of self flowing along with your breath.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
From all directions to the breath.
Only breath flows in and out.
No mind,
No energies,
No awareness,
No self.
Only breath flowing in and out.
Thank you.
Everything dissolving.
Only your breath remains.
As the silence arises.
Let go of the breath.
Let go of the breath.
Let go of the breath.
Let go of the breath.
Let go of your breath.
Let go of your breath.
Let go of your breath.
Let go of your breath.
This silence arises a consciousness with no self.
Let go of your breath.
Let go of your breath.
Let go of your breath.
Let go of your breath.
This is without boundaries.
Without self.
This is without boundaries.
Let go of your breath.
Let go of everything.
Stay in this state of bhairava.
Let go of everything.
Let go of everything.
Let go of everything.
Let go of your breath.
Let go of your breath.
Let go of your breath.
Listen to the sense of self.
Very gently and slowly,
You may open your eyes.
Let go of everything.
Let go of everything.
Let go of everything.
Let go of everything.
Let go of everything.
