#63. You Are The Miracle, You Are The Magic | Yoga Sutras Of Patanjali
Don't look for miracles, don't believe in magic. Realize you are the miracle, you are the magic. The path of yoga and meditation is a reminder of the miracle and magic you are. On vibhuti pada in the yoga sutras, Patanjali proposes that once you learn to control the awareness, you control perception therefore you come out of the mind, move towards the truth. In truth there is a miracle, there is magic.

Namaste.
Welcome to this meditation session with me,
Dhyansay,
Your path to inner peace,
Wisdom and awareness.
Miracles don't happen.
Magic does not exist.
This is what we say to ourselves.
This is what we preach to everyone else.
Yet,
We keep on believing deep down that magic happens,
That miracles happen.
Why?
First,
We narrow down from what is to what we believe,
How we understand and then we challenge that as well.
In fact,
There is miracles all around happening,
Every day,
Every moment,
Wherever you look,
There is nothing but miracles happening.
There is nothing in this existence that is not a miracle.
There is nothing in this existence where magic is not happening at every moment.
We narrow down ourselves from that miracle,
From that magic into something that we can confine in our understanding,
We can confine in our belief,
We can confine in our mind.
And when we lock ourselves in our mind,
In our own version of what is all happening,
Then we feel trapped,
Then we feel there is no meaning to life,
Then we feel that life is something which is very boring,
Which is not worth living,
Or we give our own versions,
Our own meaning to life.
And deep down,
We keep on wishing for the miracles to happen,
For the magic to appear from somewhere.
All we need to do is to break our own mind,
To break through our own views,
Our own perceptions and see that there is only magic,
There is only miracles that are happening all around us,
All throughout our lives,
Without exception.
Yoga meditation is a reminder to this magic,
To this miracle that is happening all around us,
While we are caught up with the mundane,
While we are caught up with this mind that we have cultivated,
This mind that does not allow us to see the miracle,
To see the magic.
Yoga and meditation is a path to break free from this mind and once again reconnect to the existence,
Reconnect to what is true,
What is magical,
What is miraculous.
This is all over the place,
You need a fresh set of eyes,
You need the purity of awareness,
You need the purity of consciousness to be able to see,
To be able to hear,
To be able to feel,
To be able to experience the miracle and the magic of this world happening all around you,
Inside of you,
Throughout this existence,
Without exception.
We are on the path of Vibhuti Padha within these Yoga Sutras of Patanjali,
Where Patanjali is coming up with these miracles one after the other,
Which sound like miracles,
The abilities that he is describing,
What all is possible,
He is mentioning in these sutras if you practice rightly,
If you learn the practice of these sutras,
If you learn to maneuver your awareness rightly,
What all magic,
What all miracle,
What all supernatural is possible,
Which is described by Patanjali in these sutras,
Is for the sake of reminding you,
To waking you up that how much miracle and magic you contain in yourself.
All you need to do is drop your ideas,
Drop your mind,
Drop all what you have been carrying in you which has not served you now and which will not serve you in future as well,
It will not take you to the truth,
It will not take you to contentment,
It will not take you to happiness,
It will not serve you anything that is worth living in life.
Because in life only the magic,
Only the miracle is worth living,
Everything else is just our own madness,
Is just our own confinement of what we think life is,
What we think who we are.
Let us hear what Patanjali has to say today.
Patanjali says,
Patanjali says,
By Samyama on the form of one's body and by checking the power of perception,
By intercepting light for the eyes of the observer,
The body becomes invisible.
Patanjali here claims,
Says,
If you want to even from the back seat appreciate what Patanjali is offering here,
You have to be open,
You have to let your mind be somewhat at rest allowing you something new to conceive,
Allowing your awareness to move in ways,
In spaces which it has not yet been exposed to.
So he says that theoretically the body can become invisible.
How does that happen?
He says,
If you do the Samyama,
If you do that control of awareness on the form of one's body and if you check the power of perception by intercepting the light from the eyes of the observer.
So many things here,
Scientific,
Non-scientific,
Put together to explain,
To somehow convey that there is a magic that is possible.
Not that you chase this magic,
Not that you chase trying to become invisible,
But in this understanding,
In diving through this sutra,
There is much to gain,
Not the invisibility of your body,
But how you understand yourself,
How you understand your mind and what all is possible.
So a few things to appreciate this sutra.
When you look at the mirror,
What do you see?
Do you see yourself or do you see an image of yourself?
What do you see when you see in the mirror?
Do you see yourself or the image of yourself in the mirror?
Answer this for yourself and let us go deeper into it.
When you see in the mirror,
Do you see yourself or do you see the form of yourself and the image of that form of yourself in the mirror?
Are you following that there are multiple layers and we have to peel the layers very carefully with a lot of awareness,
With a lot of silence to see that the truth is lying much underneath the layers.
What you see in the mirror is the image of the form of what you call as yourself.
So what you call as yourself,
First of all,
The illusion happens on the form because that form is a perception.
What you call as my body,
When you,
The idea that you have of the shape of your body,
The form of your body is your perception of your body.
You don't know even your body.
You're living in the body.
You don't know even your body.
You only know the form of the body and that form of the body is your own perception,
Your own idea validated and constantly repeated by your mind,
By your very simple logic,
By your very simple arithmetic that makes you believe the form that you think you are is what you are.
And then another level of distortion is when you see yourself in the mirror,
You see an image of yourself.
So meditation is to revert back from this image that you see in the mirror to the perception of the form that you have to actually who you really are.
For that you have to drop the image.
For that you have to drop the form,
The perception.
So here Patanjali is saying that by doing Samyama on the form,
First of all,
You let go of the image.
Then you let go of this form that the consideration,
The idea,
The solidity that you have built in your mind about your body,
About your shape,
About your form,
Who you are,
What are your characteristics,
What form that you have.
You,
By doing Samyama,
You can move from form to formless.
That if you can master,
If you can become formless,
Half of the puzzle is solved.
What is the rest half?
He says,
By checking the power of perception by intercepting light from the eyes of the observer.
This is a little hard to digest,
But let me just say what Patanjali is trying to mean here.
See that when you see a certain color,
When you see a certain form,
You only see when the light is reflected and reaching your eyes.
Whatever is absorbed,
You don't see.
Only whatever is reflected,
Even in colors,
If you see the green color,
You only see the green color because that object is absorbing all other colors and only green is reflected to your eyes.
So here,
Patanjali is claiming that once your practice is so developed,
Once your awareness,
Your own control over your own form,
Your perception,
Your entire system,
If the control is developed to that level,
That you can even absorb all the light that shines upon you.
If you can do that,
You become invisible.
Suddenly,
Nobody can see you anymore.
And many yogis have dedicated their life trying to master this one ability of becoming invisible.
Again,
In life,
Miracles are not only possible.
Life is a miracle,
So we cannot deny the possibility of something like this.
But what is the use of becoming invisible?
There is no use.
There is no meaning to this in our life.
Therefore,
Even if it is an amazing ability,
Even if it is a spectacular miracle that can happen in our life,
If we go after it,
There is no point in going after it.
What is meaningful?
What is the wisdom of this?
It is to see that this form that we are considering as our form,
This is our perception and we need to take control of this perception.
We need to move from perception to reality,
From the illusion of the form to the truth of the formless.
And if we do that,
He extends the sutra further to other senses as well.
He says,
Itena sabda adi antar dharanam uktam.
In the same way,
The disappearance of sound and touch and taste and smell is explained.
So,
From this,
The wisdom that we take in our meditation,
In our silence as we sit for the next minutes is that we move from the form to the formless.
By control of our awareness,
By moving from perception to the truth to the reality.
Please close your eyes and take a posture that is comfortable for you with your spine erect and body relaxed.
Breath flowing in and out,
Normally,
Naturally,
Gently,
Quietly.
Bring your awareness on the shape of your body as if you are watching your body from the inside.
And your awareness on the boundaries of the body,
On the shape that it creates in your perception.
Breath flowing in and out,
Normally,
Naturally,
Gently,
Quietly.
Breath flowing in and out,
Normally,
Naturally,
Quietly.
More and more awareness on the shape of your body,
On the boundaries of your body,
On the form that is created in your perception.
Of your body.
And observe these boundaries of your body,
The shape of your body,
As if you are observing it from the inside.
As if you are observing it from the inside.
As you observe the boundaries,
Certain form,
A certain idea creates in your mind.
Let go of this idea of how your shape is,
How these boundaries are,
But simply remain aware of these boundaries of your body,
Of the form of your body.
No ideas about your body.
No conclusions about your body.
Simply observe the boundaries,
The shape.
If they melt,
Let them melt.
In your awareness,
If the form dissolves into the formless,
Allow it to happen.
Let go of this idea of how your body is,
How these boundaries are,
How these boundaries are,
How these boundaries are,
How these boundaries are.
Allow the form to dissolve,
The boundaries to fade away,
The awareness to expand beyond the boundaries,
Beyond any shape.
Please recognize that the with every breath,
With more courage,
Allow yourself to be formless,
Shapeless,
In the awareness to move,
Expand,
Become the truth.
More and more silence,
Less and less of perception.
Made by you.
.
No judgement on the form or the formless.
Awareness everywhere.
Presence everywhere.
Silence everywhere.
No inside,
No outside.
No shape,
No form.
Stay in this meditative silence as long as you like before you open your eyes and get back to your form.
And remember,
It's all miracles in magic.
Only you make it mundane.
Thank you very much.
Namaste.
