Namaste and a very warm welcome to all of you in this daily live meditation session with me,

Dehansi.

We are meditating on Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and today we begin a new chapter,

The last chapter of this Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

So far,

Patanjali had prepared us from wherever we were to reach to the base camp and now the journey is to the ultimate peak of Kevalya,

Of liberation.

From the base camp to the peak.

On this journey,

Those who have been following this journey with me for Patanjali,

Those have to be very focused now.

Those have to be very careful by pulling all their energies into the practice.

Into this last chapter,

Into this last step from the base camp of all what has gone into the practice,

All what has gone into the learning,

Into the teaching,

Now is the time to put it into practice.

Now is the test of it where we will take a leap from this base camp to the peak.

And for those who are joining now,

Who are coming to this stream now,

They can get inspired.

For them,

Those who are even in the valley of things,

Even they can get inspired by what is happening from this movement from the base camp to the peak,

This Kevalya.

What is this Kevalya?

We will talk about that.

But for all of the meditators,

Whether you have been meditating along the stream of Yoga Sutra or you just came across the stream and are somewhere in the valley,

Somewhere,

Are still at a distance,

Still figuring out what is this stream,

What is this Patanjali,

Yoga Sutras,

What is this journey,

Even if you are still figuring out,

There is something to inspire for you in these sessions as well,

In this journey that has been laid down by Patanjali.

What is this peak?

What is this Kevalya?

What is this liberation?

This Kevalya,

This peak,

Is the highest vibration possible.

We are living in a spectrum of vibrations where we sometimes feel good,

Sometimes feel bad,

Sometimes things are working for us in life,

Sometimes things are not working for us in life,

Sometimes we are in achievement,

Sometimes we are in happiness,

In joy,

In love,

In compassion,

In all the good things of life,

And sometimes we are in misery,

We are in pain,

We are in anguish,

In anxiety,

In stress,

In all these negative vibrations.

So what is this Kevalya which Patanjali is offering as the peak of meditation,

As the peak of yoga?

This peak is beyond both.

It is not saying that you move from one vibration to the other,

It is not saying that you move from the bad to the good,

From the pain to the pleasure,

It is saying that go beyond both.

This peak of Kevalya is beyond all.

Once you are done with all,

Then you can only appreciate the peak of yoga,

The peak of meditation,

This Kevalya.

This highest vibration,

What is this vibration?

This vibration is of emptiness,

Is of nothingness.

It's once again going back to the source,

Once again going back into the infinite,

Vast emptiness.

In the manifestation we have narrowed ourselves down,

In that narrowing down we are living the pain,

The pleasure,

In that narrowing down we are living the bad,

The good,

Etc of life,

The mundane of life and here the effort is Patanjali saying rise above both.

Be in Kevalya,

Be in emptiness,

Be in nothingness,

Be in this vastness where there is only pure consciousness,

Pure awareness,

Pure silence.

This is the peak,

This is the goal,

This is the ambition that Patanjali has set for all its meditators.

And on this journey we are on the last chapter where Patanjali is giving a few more sutras,

A few more guidelines,

A few more tips,

A few more tools to the meditator,

To the yogi who is going to take this leap,

Who is going to climb this peak,

This impossibility of rising above the manifestation to the unmanifestation,

Rising above from wherever the meditator is,

To this highest possibility.

So listen carefully,

Meditate along,

Contemplate along these sutras.

The first sutra of Kevalya Padam,

The last chapter,

The path to emptiness,

From Yoga Sutras of Patanjali,

He says,

Janma oshadi mantra tapa samadhi jaya siddhaya.

Siddhis are born of practices performed in previous births or by herbs,

Mantra repetition,

Austerity or by samadhi.

Patanjali opens this Kevalya Padam by this sutra to remind you that this spiritual journey that you are taking,

This is not starting today in your life.

You have been on this journey for long.

The message through this sutra which Patanjali wants to give to you is that you have been on this spiritual journey for a very,

Very,

Very long time,

Not just in this life,

But also in previous lives.

So he is saying that you are not just waking up with a blank page and starting drawing your spiritual journey from the very beginning.

So no matter if you right now consider yourself as a beginner,

Just the fact that you came across this stream,

Just the fact that you resonate somewhat to what Patanjali is saying,

You resonate to your heart,

You resonate to your spirit and all the vibrations that are amplifying your heart,

Amplifying your spirit.

This is an indicator,

This shows that you have been on this spiritual journey in the past as well and not just in this birth,

But in previous births as well.

We don't have to believe in this theory of reincarnation,

But there is a wisdom in this perspective and we must take this wisdom as we go along on this peak towards Kavaliya.

What is that wisdom?

That wisdom is that there is a continuation,

There is a continuation of your spiritual journey.

Think of your moment of birth.

When you are born,

You are not aware of yourself.

So right now you may not have an immediate clear memory of yourself.

And your memory if you go in the past is maybe starting when you are 3 years old,

4 years old,

5 years old and from there on there is a memory which you can recall.

So if you go back into your memory you can recall maybe until 2 or until 3.

But if you go deeper,

If you go through a process of moving into your subconscious and really going deeper to that very moment when you were born,

You will realize that you did not come as an empty slate.

And also logically if you just think of it analytically,

When you came to this world,

Did you came with an empty slate?

In biology they say you came with a set of genes,

But here Patanjali is referring to something even more profound,

Something even more comprehensive than just coming into this world with a set of genes coming from your parents.

He is saying you bring something along,

You bring a certain uniqueness along,

You bring some of these spiritual journeys,

Steps that you had taken on the spiritual journey along with you and now is the time for you to recall that and move further.

So that is one component of this sutra where he is saying Siddhis are born of practices performed in previous births which means you don't always have to start from the beginning,

Just recall where your spiritual powers lie.

He is saying go into that self-remembering and see and tune in once again to your spirituality,

To that uniqueness that you carry in you which was given to you even at this time of the birth and you have forgotten in the mundane,

In the layers of mind,

In the layers of conditioning,

In the layers of hypnosis that has gone all along this journey,

You have forgotten about that essence,

You have forgotten about that step,

That collection of your spiritual paths,

The spiritual steps that you have taken,

Now is the time to move from there once again further.

So he is saying,

So that is one part of the sutra.

The second part of the sutra is where he says there are four ways in which you can now continue with this spiritual energy that you have collected,

That you have been continuing from your past to now in this life.

Those four ways of continuing are one is by herbs.

What he means is by even external means of triggering these spiritual energies in you.

See that Patanjali is a fully developed science,

All-inclusive.

He is not even excluding all the herbs.

What he means by that is,

As an example,

In the shamanic traditions you have Ayyavasca,

Which are psychedelics.

In India there have been traditions of marijuana and all other psychedelics which have been along the journey of spirituality,

Somewhat accompanying,

Somewhat playing their role.

So he is not discarding the role of herbs in the process of spirituality.

He is not a denier.

He does not say that you don't do this or you don't do that.

He says everything that helps you on the journey,

That brings you forward in the journey is of help.

So here he is just referring to saying that in cases you have completely forgotten about your spiritual energies,

In case you are a patient,

In case you are so sick that you need medication,

Just like if you are very very very depressed,

You need to start with the medication.

You need to start with the antidepressants that give you once again that energy back to come to normal and from there on you move on.

Similarly,

If you have been very sick,

Not knowing your spirituality,

Sick of ignorance,

Then these herbs once again raise that consciousness in you.

And you can see right now there is a trend all over the world where people are trying psychedelics and they are immediately putting themselves into this state where they come to terms with their spiritual nature.

For the very first time they wake up to their spirituality and all the conditionings that they had carried in them,

All the norms,

Every knowledge that they had carried in them,

All the learnings,

They break out of that and rise above to their spirituality.

But here Patanjali is also saying see that this way is of the body.

This way is not something that is sustainable.

This way has its own consequences.

When you are on the path of herbs for your spirituality,

You are only in the remembrance of your spirituality as long as you are in the influence of the herbs.

When the influence of the herbs is not there anymore,

What do you do?

You fall further deeper into the low.

So there has to be a better way,

There has to be a more sophisticated way of rising you above to your spirituality than just these external measures of psychedelics which act through the body.

The second way is,

He says,

Of mantra repetition.

This is not the way of the body,

This is the way of the energies.

Yesterday we chanted Om that is one of the most powerful mantras,

Sounds which create a vibration in which your energies are purified.

And when your energies are purified,

You once again realize your spiritual nature,

You once again realize your spiritual powers.

The third he says,

To live an austere life.

So the first one,

The herbs through the body is not sustainable.

The mantra also is not sustainable.

You can chant the mantra and you are for a while in a space which is very beautiful.

You are in a state which is above all but you always come back.

You come back to the mundane,

You come back to the ordinary.

So he proposes something higher which is austerity.

He says,

Live the life of non-attachment,

Live the life of desirelessness,

Live the life of all these spiritual principles that are laid down in all these wisdom traditions.

So here he starts with the body,

Then with the energy,

Then with the lifestyle.

He is giving you all options to move further.

And the last samadhi,

The advanced consciousness,

The advanced concentration practices that we are exploring in these sessions from the very beginning,

He says that is the ultimate way.

So he gave four different ways to realize your spiritual nature.

The lowest is the herbs,

Is this external way of coming impulsively in contact with oneself.

Then he says is the mantra,

Then an austere life,

And last is samadhi,

Is the practice of meditation.

And that is why the core of these sessions is to sit together in silence,

To sit together in meditation.

Let us move into silence on that note,

Into awareness,

Into a space within us.

There is the door,

The path to emptiness.

Please take a posture that is comfortable for you with your back,

Neck and head aligned upright.

Balance in your body that allows you to leave the body behind,

A rest in your body.

As your body settles and your mind calms down,

Your awareness rises,

Shines in your inner space.

Give yourself a moment to go back to the moment you were born.

Tuning in to the moment you were born.

That very first moment.

Feeling your thought,

Your imagination,

Your visualization,

Your feeling,

Your energies,

All into going back to that very moment you were born.

Dropping all aspects of your life,

In awareness,

Focus,

Visualization,

And awareness,

You are now in the very first moment of your life.

This moment is not in your memory,

But you still have access to it.

Tune yourself into that feeling,

Into that sensation of that very first moment you were born.

Let's go back to the moment you were born.

Moving deeper into the very first moment in the womb of your mother.

Images,

Sounds,

Visualizations will arise in your consciousness.

Allow them to rise up and fade away on their own.

You remain focused,

Tuned in to the very first moment in the womb of your mother.

Let's go back to the moment you were born.

That very first ray of light,

Energy,

That is you in the womb of your mother,

In the womb of creation.

Let's go back to the moment you were born.

This is your spiritual essence.

This is your uniqueness.

You are here to express this spiritual essence,

Spiritual energy that you are about to experience.

At the first moment of existence.

Let go of all effort,

Visualization,

Imagination,

Thinking,

And simply stay in silence,

In awareness of what is in this silence.

Let go of all effort,

Visualization,

Imagination,

And simply stay in silence.

Let go of all effort,

Visualization,

Imagination,

And simply stay in silence.

And very gently and slowly,

You may open your eyes,

Maintaining this awareness,

This silence,

And the taste of your spiritual essence.

And the purpose to develop this spiritual essence rise to the peak of consciousness,

To kevalaya.

Thank you very much.

Namaste.
