Namaste sannyasa family and everyone.
A very warm welcome to all of you in this daily live meditation session with me,
Dhyansa.
We are meditating on 112 meditation techniques of Vigyan Bhairav Tantra.
Let me tell you a very unscientific analysis of consciousness.
This one consciousness that we all experience,
The same consciousness that is there in you,
That is there in me,
That is there in all what is surrounding us,
In all the trees,
All the plants,
All the animals,
All the rocks,
Everything that is there in the world,
Everything that is there in the manifested world,
This one consciousness taking different forms,
Taking different shapes,
Taking different nature,
How is that functioning?
Let me share an unscientific analysis of consciousness so that you can understand consciousness from a slightly different perspective that will help you to map where you are in your journey,
In your spiritual journey,
In the evolution of consciousness,
Where you are,
Where we all are as human beings and where everything around us is in this world of one consciousness manifesting in different shapes,
In different forms.
There are seven levels to it,
Seven degrees,
Seven rungs,
Seven different types of consciousness.
Just to classify all what is there in consciousness into seven parts,
Into seven degrees,
Into seven levels,
Out of the seven,
All other systems that are following the number seven,
That are following seven chakras,
Seven colors,
Anything that arises is somehow coherent to this analysis of the consciousness dividing itself into seven different degrees,
Seven different levels.
The first level,
The very bottom,
The very primary,
Is the rock consciousness.
I call it the rock consciousness,
The consciousness that is there in the rocks,
The consciousness that is there in the stones.
You might say,
Well,
There is no consciousness in the stone,
I don't feel it.
If you raise your sensitivity,
If you raise your awareness,
You start to feel that even the rocks,
They have some consciousness in them.
They don't have a life form in them,
But they have some consciousness in them.
Wherever there is energy,
There is consciousness,
Wherever there is shakti,
There is Shiva.
Because the shakti arises out of the Shiva,
The shakti is there to hold on to the Shiva,
To contain the Shiva.
So as the manifestation of the physical world starts,
It starts with rocks,
It starts with stones and you see that even now as we do the exploration of Mars,
As we have sent our curiosity to Mars and we see the pictures of rocks all around Mars,
There is this sense that arises in us.
If you meditate over those pictures,
You connect to this primary level of consciousness that there is a potency,
There is this consciousness,
There is this energy that is there all around us in every rock,
In every stone.
And you can feel this in forms of crystals,
There is even a fully developed science around crystals and stones and rocks,
How to bring those vibrations which these stones,
These crystals,
These rocks carry and how they impact our life.
So they have some consciousness in them which is absolutely in a form which has no life but which is just simply pure energy.
There is no biology to it,
There is no sensation to it,
There is absolutely no intellect,
No mind to it,
But the energy is there as pure consciousness,
As this innate latent consciousness.
That's the degree,
The first level,
The rock consciousness.
As the consciousness evolves,
It becomes the planned consciousness or the tree consciousness.
This second degree of consciousness,
I would like to call it the tree consciousness,
Where this consciousness starts also manifesting a certain nature,
A certain program,
A certain subjectivity.
For the very first time,
From just the objects that are there around the rocks or just objects,
There is no subjectivity to the rocks,
To the stones,
But as this consciousness evolves to a plant or a tree consciousness,
Suddenly there is a subjectivity to the tree.
Suddenly there is a sensation that arises in the tree.
The tree may or may not have a feeling,
But or you may call it a feeling,
You may call it something,
But there is a sensation in a tree,
There is a sensation in a plant which is this evolution of consciousness to the second degree where the plant is there,
There is a life in it.
The consciousness has manifested as not only the object but also a certain subjectivity which has a sensation.
But it is still very much like in sleep.
The plants are as if the consciousness is very much like in sleep.
They are there but they don't know that they are there.
They are just reacting,
They are just responding to the sensations that are all around.
So this consciousness that has evolved from the first degree,
From the rocks to the trees,
This has a sensation to it.
As the consciousness evolves to the third degree,
I call that animal consciousness.
This consciousness which has now a mind as well,
There is not just sensation,
There is a feeling,
The subjectivity is very strongly established in the animal consciousness.
There is an objectivity about it,
There is also a subjectivity which is very very strongly established in animal consciousness.
But even an animal is somewhat like in a dream state.
It is aware of the object but it is not aware of its subjectivity.
An animal is aware but it is not aware of itself.
It is aware of the objectivity of the external world but it is not aware of itself,
Of its subjectivity.
It perceives itself as also as an object but not as a subject.
So this animal consciousness is the third degree of the evolution of consciousness.
As the consciousness evolves further,
It becomes this fourth degree of consciousness,
What we call as human consciousness.
In this human consciousness,
There is subjectivity,
There is objectivity and there is self-awareness.
And then there is this awareness of the subjectivity of the self.
You are aware of the whole world,
Of the objective world but you are also aware of the subject.
You are also aware that you are,
This sense of self,
This arises with the evolution of consciousness as human consciousness.
As if we are in this waking state,
This waking state is recognized,
Is characterized by self-awareness.
That we are awake,
Awake not just to the objective world but to the subjectivity of who we are,
This self that we call as self.
As the consciousness evolves further,
Beyond just this ordinary waking state of self,
As the consciousness rises further,
To this fifth degree,
I call this meditative consciousness or sub-super consciousness.
This is a state where there is objectivity,
Where there is subjectivity,
Where there is self-awareness but there is also somewhat of a sense that there is this awareness beyond the self.
The awareness expands beyond the object,
Beyond the subject and beyond just this self,
Beyond this limited subjectivity of the self.
This state can be known as Turiya in several traditions.
If you open up books,
They will say this state is Turiya.
It is somewhat of a transition to super consciousness,
To a state in which the awareness is fully aware of itself.
It is fully established in itself and that is this sixth degree of evolution of consciousness,
This sixth stage of consciousness where the awareness is fully established in awareness of itself.
All masters,
All teachers,
All enlightened beings,
They all carry,
Contain this full awareness of awareness in them,
A continuity which is unbroken of the awareness of awareness itself.
It contains the subject,
It contains the object,
It may also contain the self but it is not just limited to just these three.
It is all pervading,
The sense of awareness is always reflecting on itself.
One is always aware of itself.
One is always aware of the awareness as well.
So as we meditate,
As we move on the spiritual path,
As we move on this spiritual journey,
What we call as the turn inwards is to raise the awareness not just in the objective world that is caught up so much into the objective world but to first of all turn it towards the subject,
Towards the self enhancing,
Establishing this self awareness.
And as this self awareness deepens,
As this self awareness is 24-7 there in you,
It becomes the awareness of the awareness because it slowly starts to expand beyond the self.
You realize you can never contain the awareness in any container,
In any manifestation.
The nature of awareness is freedom.
The nature of awareness is expansion.
And in this expansion,
The only state it can be in is in awareness of awareness.
And that is the goal that we call as enlightenment,
That we call as a state of full consciousness,
Super consciousness,
The sixth stage of evolution.
And there is the seventh state which is above and beyond which you can call it as God consciousness in which there is no object,
In which there is no subject,
In which there is no self and not no reflection whatsoever.
Even the awareness is not trying to reflect on itself.
There is absolutely no effort.
It is like a silent lake once again pure consciousness,
Absolutely pure consciousness,
No manifestation,
No movement.
It is simply pure consciousness,
This God consciousness.
In this seventh state,
You leave the body,
In this seventh state,
You leave the manifestation,
You leave everything that is of the form.
You are once again back into the formless.
So this is the journey of the evolution of consciousness and we somehow experience all of these forms also in our daily life.
While going through things,
Somehow we are just stones,
We are absolutely unaware,
Not knowing what is happening.
Sometimes we are plants,
We feel something,
There is something in us which is touched but still unaware,
Still unconscious.
Sometimes we are just simply animals like in subconsciousness.
We are aware of the objects but we are not aware of our subjectivity.
We lose this subjectivity and we get caught up in the objectivity of the world,
That animal we are also sometimes.
And hopefully we are most of the times humans where we are aware of the object and aware of our subjectivity.
We pay attention to our subjectivity,
We pay attention to who we really are.
And from there on the journey begins towards higher,
Towards something that is towards God of higher value which is awareness of awareness which is being in pure consciousness.
So the journey,
The spiritual journey,
The meditative journey begins with you being a human,
Raising you from all these sub-human states of consciousness that you live to once again back to being a human,
To be in love,
To be in awareness,
To be in yourself,
In your being first.
And then build on top of that to take you higher than yourself,
The awareness expanding,
The awareness reflecting on itself and moving beyond,
Becoming enlightened,
Becoming God consciousness.
Let us listen to what Bhairava has to say in Vigyan Bhairava Tantra,
The technique that he gives,
The sutra that he says,
Meditate over it,
Contemplate over it and be in the silence for the next 15 minutes or so.
Bhairava says,
Remain in constant awareness of the subject-object relationship in you.
Here Bhairava is emphasizing that as you are living this subject-object relationship,
Become aware of that,
Become aware of the objectivity in you,
Become aware of the subjectivity in you,
Become aware of this relationship between the object and the subject in you.
As you pay attention to the subject-object relationship,
You become aware of the subject-object relationship.
As you pay attention to this relation of the object and the subject in you,
Your awareness takes a different position.
It comes out of the self,
It comes out of the object,
It comes out of the subjectivity and starts reflecting on itself,
Becoming awareness of the awareness.
So this is a wonderful technique to take you towards awareness of the awareness,
To take you towards even higher pure consciousness.
Let us practice this in the next minutes in the silence.
I'll guide you with minimal instructions to point out where to put your awareness,
How to go about your awareness as you are moving towards this object-subject relationship.
Please close your eyes and take a posture that is comfortable for you.
A sitting posture,
Easy for you,
Comfortable yet alert.
With your back straight,
Head unsupported and the whole body resting on its own weight.
When are you guidance?
Okay.
Awareness turning inwards towards all objects whatever you feel sense perceive in your inner space your body your mind any object that arises in your consciousness you you you In these moments,
Any sensations,
The sense of your body,
Pay attention to all objects in you.
As the awareness settles,
Include the subject in your awareness,
The one who is aware of the object.
Remaining aware of who is aware.
Remaining aware of who is aware.
Aware of the subject.
Both the subject and the object at the same time.
Remaining aware of the subject.
Stay with it.
Be in this awareness of the object and the subject.
Be aware of the subject.
Leave the object.
Become aware of awareness.
The whole of your inner space.
Remaining awareness of awareness.
Be aware of the subject.
Remaining more and more in awareness of awareness.
All energy in awareness.
Be aware of the subject.
Let go of all effort.
Let go of everything.
Simply sit in silence.
Try to hold anything.
Deep,
Restful awareness.
Be aware of the subject.
Very gently and slowly.
You may open your eyes.
Allowing once again the objectivity,
The subjectivity to arise in your consciousness.
Once again in the manifesting world.
But taking this connection to the awareness of the awareness,
This taste of the awareness of the awareness to your daily life.
Letting it establish in the moments when you are not just sitting down for meditation.
Letting them be a part of your life.
Letting them be a part of your spiritual journey.
If what is being spoken in the discourse is touching you,
Is resonating with you,
Somewhere deep in you.
Now,
We return to the towards these experiences in oneself of love,
Of truth,
Of connection with all,
Of one consciousness with all.
To apply,
Please write me an email with your introduction,
Your spiritual journey,
Your calling for this community,
This Sangha,
And what can you give back.
Thank you very much.
Namaste.
