Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed.
Sit comfortably with your spine naturally straight.
Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in and exhale slowly.
Let your body relax completely.
Feel the ground beneath you,
The air on your skin.
You have arrived in this moment.
Turn your attention inward.
Without trying to change anything,
Begin to listen to your thoughts.
In particular,
Notice the voice in your mind that says,
I.
Notice the voice in your mind that says,
I.
The one that claims experiences,
Emotions and sensations.
Who is speaking?
Who is speaking?
Notice the voice in your mind that says,
I.
Who is speaking?
Repeat the mantra OM NAMA SHIVAYA internally.
Notice who is repeating it.
Does it feel like you are saying it or is it happening by itself?
Keep observing.
If you can hear a thought,
It means that it is not you.
It is just something appearing within your awareness.
The voice that says,
I,
Is no different.
Watch how it arises and fades,
Just as sounds come and go in the external world.
The thought of I comes and goes in the internal world.
But what remains?
What is left when the voice of I falls silent?
There is no effort needed.
Just observe.
You will begin to sense something deeper than the mind.
A silent,
Limitless presence.
It is not a thought,
Not a concept.
It has always been here.
What is left when the voice of I falls silent?
There is no effort needed.
Just observe.
You will begin to sense something deeper than the mind.
A silent,
Limitless presence.
It is not a thought,
Not a concept.
It has always been here.
Now,
Ask yourself,
Who am I beyond all names,
Beyond all stories?
If you do not cling to thoughts,
If you do not hold onto identity,
What remain?
If you do not cling to thoughts,
If you do not hold onto identity,
What remain?
If you do not cling to thoughts,
If you do not hold onto identity,
What remain?
Pure being.
Just awareness.
Stay here.
Rest in this silent,
Open presence.
There is no separate I to hold onto.
No center.
No boundary.
Only vast stillness.
There is no effort needed.
In this moment,
You are not separate from existence itself.
The mind may return,
Thoughts may arise,
But now you see them for what they are,
Passing waves on the ocean of consciousness.
The Advaita sages remind us,
You are not the body,
You are not the mind,
You are that which is beyond both.
You are that which is beyond both.
This awareness,
This silent presence,
Is always here.
It is what you are.
As Nisargadatta Maharaj said,
The mind creates the I,
Then says,
I have lost myself.
The self is never lost.
It is always here.
Let go of all self-definitions.
Let go of the need to grasp.
You are already free.
When you are ready,
Gently bring your awareness back to your body.
Feel your breath moving in and out.
Wiggle your fingers and toes.
Open your eyes softly,
Carrying this deep sense of presence with you.
You are not the voice in your head,
You are the space in which everything arises and fades.
And this space is boundless.
