A 1-minute breathing practice gives your child a quick minute to connect and can help your child create a mindfulness habit and build their stamina for stillness. Here, Effie leads a short one-minute breathing exercise, backed by soothing music. Each inhale and exhale is 3 seconds long. At the end of the exercise, she congratulates your child on a job well done, and lets them know that they are awesome and smart and capable of doing anything they put their mind to.

It's time for our mindful moment.

Let's breathe.

Ahhh.

Ah-he-he.

First,

Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight,

Like me.

You can also lie down with your back flat on the ground.

We are going to breathe deeply through our nose for the count of three,

And then out through our mouths for the count of three.

And I'll do the counting.

You just concentrate on that breathing.

Close your eyes.

And now breathe in through your nose,

One,

Two,

Three.

And out through your mouth,

One,

Two,

Three.

Breathe in one,

Two,

Three and out,

One,

Two,

Three.

Breathe in one,

Two,

Three and out one,

Two,

Three.

Breathe in one,

Two,

Three and out one,

Two,

Three.

And out,

One,

Two,

Three.

Breathe in,

One,

Two,

Three,

And out,

One,

Two,

Three.

Breathe in,

One,

Two,

Three,

And out,

One,

Two,

Three.

And open your eyes.

That's it.

Great job.

You are so awesome and smart and capable of doing anything you put your mind to.

Until next time,

Sending happy thoughts.

Ah.

Ah.
