The effort through the mind to focus on removing the thoughts from the mind you're still in the mind the mind can manufacture a black color screen okay the mind has the ability to manufacture a black color screen and then make you focus on the black color screen okay mind's attention is different from awareness okay even when mind is busy trying to manufacture something there is a sense of a knower that knows that the mind is trying to do something right that is the knower that is Sakshi.

Sakshi is not the mind trying to do something for example take your small little example of your meditation that you do you observe the breath who's observing the breath I am who is I right now just take your attention to your breath okay just your normal breath going in your mouth yes what is watching the breath technically nothing if I keep doing this I come to conclusion nothing is really watching huh that nothing nothing that is Sakshi yes you think the knower does not know itself how can the knower know everything and not know itself yeah I obviously can't say I am the knower of all I'm not there so then the homework for you is to go and sit and meditate you go and sit and meditate and observe what is observing the breath going in and out first just observe the breath going in and out for five minutes forget everything else the plain anapana that we learned okay observe the breath going in and out now become aware is it the mind focusing on the breath going in and out and saying in out in out or whatever there will be a movement if there is an inner movement of thought or feeling or perception or sensation that is the mind okay yeah mind doesn't see sometimes in and out but there is a percept a sensation like that of in and out that is the mind now is it are you just aware of the mind which you're calling nothingness and it's just the sensation going in and out watching the breath but is there a newer behind the mind that is observing the sensation of in and out going in and out and that which is observing the breath okay well I do that I have never actively tried to observe yeah because we've never done anitra before this is one step higher this is one step higher so do it and see and then you will know if I'm getting it oh yes this is it but if you feel no then we go back to anapana and from there progressively step by step so the buddha's path also you will get that it takes a little while yeah but right adwaita is direct adwaita is a direct path and buddha's path is an indirect path that is the difference right right and that's where I'm definitely caught up in theory and some practice I've felt that nothingness in practice but I can't stay there and I'm not sure that it's the right thing no that's okay not staying there obviously because you've not practiced staying there that's okay okay yeah even to understand it we take we need adwaita and the explanations of adwaita to help us and oh yeah this is it yeah so that we can go a little bit into the explanations and see can I identify with this that's why I say you taste everything properly not just one spoon the whole ice cream and then decide strawberry is not for me I'll go with chocolate yeah that's fine nothing is good or bad they're just different flavors okay all right okay you
