Getting and Staying Motivated How do you get and stay motivated to lose weight?

You need to determine your specific motivators and state them in positive terms.

Motivation is the willingness to act in a purposeful and persistent manner to achieve a goal in the continuous state of mind that is required to attain and retain appropriate eating habits.

Persistence is achieved only by having a purpose.

Motivation is not willpower.

So take the time to thoroughly examine your reasons for being willing to change your attitudes and habits in order to lose weight and keep it off.

Start imagining yourself at goal weight.

Continually visualizing victory is imperative.

This allows you to constantly furnish data to your subconscious that will later be sent to the conscious portion of the brain for action when needed.

This positive programming helps establish habits that promote weight loss.

If you can see yourself at goal weight,

You are more likely to act in ways that will get you there.

Since a strong emotion overrides a weaker one,

The overall importance of losing weight must take precedence over all other current problems.

This is done by repeatedly programming the correct thoughts and pictures.

So take time each day to imagine yourself at goal weight.

Identify particular habits that need to be changed and determine your specific eating cues.

Accept the fact that a change in attitude is necessary and plan for this change.

Losing weight is a positive process that you have chosen to experience because of what you have determined will result.

It isn't deprivation or sacrifice.

You are moving toward a goal you have set for yourself.
