Dispassion Is Mind Like A Mirror That Does Not Cling
by Girish Jha,
Talk & Practice. Freedom and Happiness | Yoga Sutra-18 Dispassion Is Mind Like A Mirror That Does Not Cling We will follow the four-step approach as taught and passed on to us by great masters of Eastern wisdom. Learning the principles - I do not know, let me know it. Clarity and conviction - I do not understand it; let me understand it. Practice - I do not experience it; let me practice it.

So we were,
Do you remember we were talking about,
We were talking about Viveka,
We were talking about the practice.
And the practice,
We came to the practice once we have understood that yoga is the highest state of mindfulness.
And that state of mindfulness reveals our true nature.
Our true nature is full of permanent peace,
Happiness,
Love and wisdom.
So then we came down that what blocks us and blocking is the mind.
Mind is an instrument of the real self and higher consciousness.
But as long as this mind is not pure,
Clear,
Like a mirror,
It will not help us to reach to a meditative state.
So we also understood there are five subjective states of the mind,
Wandering,
Forgetfulness and distraction.
Say that you are sitting and you are doing meditation and you start remembering something and the mind goes there.
So this is one distraction.
And I had one student long back,
I don't forget,
He was very obese,
You know,
Five foot two inches and weighing around 140 kilogram in India.
And the moment I start talking,
Within few minutes his head goes down and he started snoring.
I said,
Hey,
What are you doing?
No,
Sir,
I'm totally absorbed.
I'm paying total attention to what you're saying.
And then practice of meditation started.
And then again,
He started snoring.
So there used to be 40,
50 people.
So I found a way,
I approached near to him while giving the instruction.
So every time I could see now he is going to breathe longer and the next breath,
He will start snoring.
I used to press his hand gently.
He used to return.
It took me a couple of months once he returns to that.
So that is what happens in the state of forgetfulness.
I explained the story because of that.
Then we also understood the five objective states of the mind that causes a lot of challenges.
So how to meet those challenges?
We had one,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Five sutras,
Five formulas.
The first is the regular practice with the wisdom.
You see the way these masters used to write a text.
So in the first they say regular practice with the wisdom.
In the next sutra,
They explained what exactly is the practice.
That means my mind should remain one-pointed to the state of steadiness inside doing all the activities,
Living a personal,
Professional,
Social life.
That sense of steadiness,
Oneness inside the mind should continue to be there even when I'm thinking,
Speaking and talking,
Along with the meditation.
Then we came to the last two more sutras.
We said what exactly is the practice?
Practice means there should be regularity,
Continuity,
Commitment,
And check is the mind deeply interested into it or not?
But if it is not interested,
Then where it is?
So where it is?
It is seeking pleasure in the world outside.
So in the fourth sutra of the practice,
It says dispassion is required.
So when the mind lives in that state of dispassion and then you do the practice of meditation.
And so perhaps last week I explained about viveka.
Viveka means you separate real from the unreal.
So in this session,
We will talk about what exactly is the dispassion in a practical way.
So there is a passion and there is a dispassion.
And dispassion culminates when we have a discernment.
Remember when if you do not have a discernment,
I have a very beautiful,
I always have beautiful friends,
You know.
I don't know whether it's because of the beard or something else.
So she invited me,
She's a yoga teacher in Princeton.
I don't want to name.
She attended a couple of sessions in Princeton,
Mindfulness sessions.
So she happened to know me from some friend and she sent an email.
I sent an email.
So normally it's a mechanical resume that I have 40 plus experience.
Experience,
So then I met her and she told me that I also have 25 plus years of experiences plus three surgeries of this point.
What do you mean by 25 years of experiences in yoga?
And what is yoga for you?
It is all twisting and stretching the body.
Over stretching,
Over exercise,
Over exertion and she was hardly 35,
36 when I was there.
So I'm not criticizing my own profession.
There we need a discernment.
Master cautions that what practice we are doing,
We should be 100% clear.
There must be a clarity.
There must be a conviction and then the intellect inspires the mind and that mind which is moving outside in passion is prevented.
That is the case.
Now we understand the dispassion poison.
If I know sugar is a poison from the beginning,
There is no problem.
I can definitely prevent diabetes.
But once we have diabetes,
Then we say sugar is poison.
That is one example of a passion.
I love you honey.
I love you.
I love you honey.
That is attachment and that attachment is a poison.
I should know what love is first before I start loving anyone.
I'm sorry I'm attacking your money.
So we have a mindset.
I love you.
Can you stick to your honey 24 by 7?
That is not love.
So we have to figure out the discernment leads to dispassion.
Always remember dispassion doesn't mean that I have to control.
People say binge eating.
They said I will take care of it provided you start understanding.
Binge eating is just a problem of a passion.
The mind is taking over the intellect and the intellect does not have the clarity and a conviction.
So the mind dictates the intellect and then I go for it.
And there are real life stories.
One of my friends,
Very dear school friend,
He has diabetes but he cannot leave the sugar.
So yeah,
So he was telling me just couple of months before.
I told you I think you know I told you before also.
So he said you know I cannot leave sugar so I eat candies and I eat sweets,
Indian deserts,
And after that I take a double dose of insulin.
I know your mind says oh my goodness crazy guy.
Question is are we doing the same thing in our daily personal professional and social life?
That is the question.
It is not a matter of sugar.
I'm obsessed with my son or daughter.
I'm obsessed with my mother.
I'm obsessed with my son or daughter.
I'm obsessed with my parents.
I'm as a person I'm obsessed with my house.
I'm obsessed with the gazettes.
Find out.
Find out.
If you are living in passion then without understanding there cannot be any dispassion at all.
Now dispassion has an element of clarity.
What is desired and what is not desired?
In my daily life.
In my daily life I must be 100% clear.
One thing you make it clear.
You have a passion means you have an attachment.
You have a disliking.
You have a hatred.
You have a jealousy.
You have a pleasure seeking mind.
That becomes the cause of suffering in our daily life.
You cannot prevent suffering from your life.
I must have a dispersion.
Must have a dispersion.
No,
You know,
My brother is saying,
You know,
I have to do this.
So I'm totally,
You know,
Now,
You know,
I have to do it.
I know this is not fair,
But still I have to do it.
And then I do it and after some time what I say I did it in good faith and see what happened to me.
Who?
What is good faith?
Did you apply the faith in your mind and intellect?
Are you clear about it?
No,
I was clear.
I was little bit doubtful and then you start suffering.
I was telling her yesterday.
It's a good session and I said,
You know,
The daughter asked me to pay about 20k for her fees.
Okay,
For her fees.
Dispassion,
Yes,
For the fees I paid.
But if she should have asked,
You know,
I want to go on a vacation,
Give me the money.
I should not have given it any cost.
That's not my way.
Dispassion.
Now I'm just giving one example.
We normally do it and we fall prey to the pleasure seeking mind.
Another point to understand.
Why my friend still takes candies and deserts sweet in nature and then he takes the insulin?
Where comes the point of discernment here?
That you can include in your relationship and in every activity.
Because the mind claims sugar gives me pleasure even though it is a poison.
So for the sake of pleasure,
For the sake of pleasure,
For the sake of pleasure,
We live our life.
We continue to live our life with the pleasure seeking mind in the world outside.
Our master says that becomes the cause of a wandering mind.
The mind will continue to wander,
To distract,
To get obsessed and the wandering obsessed mind cannot succeed in meditation.
Forget about meditation.
There is no way.
Meditation.
So how the dispersion takes place?
By introducing the mind.
One,
These principles.
Two,
Separate real from the unreal.
The mind takes unreal as real because of liking,
Disliking,
Attachment,
Detachment.
So if this attachment and I heard,
You know,
I told you,
You know,
She works in Tiffany Jewelers whose daughter,
So she's getting good money,
So she paid her daughter for her car and for her fees.
So one day she found that cigarette burns and the seat was burnt of the car.
So mother noticed and mother started reacting and she called me almost around 10,
30,
11.
It happened in New Jersey.
They said,
Okay,
I'll come.
Everyone becomes my friend,
So I'm always at their disposal.
You are good enough,
You know,
You don't call me so.
I am going to take the car back and I will ask her to return all the money that I paid for the fees.
I said,
Why didn't you pay me?
Can you make a difference between your daughter and me?
Why didn't you pay me that much of money and why did you pay to your daughter?
That's how I gave,
You know,
I don't say counseling,
But guidance,
Coaching.
No,
She's my daughter,
So you are attached.
And when I come to your house and you hug me and you say,
You know,
A chariot,
You're very good,
Very nice guy,
But you don't pay me the way you pay your daughter.
And then I told her that first understand what is discernment,
What is real and unreal.
You are paying the money.
It is because the mind is in the mode of pleasure seeking in your relationship.
She should follow you,
Your daughter should follow you,
Should love you,
Should you have a lot of expectation.
So in the attachment and detachment,
When you have that expectation of seeking pleasure,
That mind becomes,
Enters into a delusion and causes the suffering.
That is why we need a dispassion.
Dispession,
You know,
Understanding dispassion,
You know,
We have maybe,
It may take 10 to 20 hours,
But I'm briefing.
Now,
In order to reach to that dispassion,
The first group of practice is karma means action.
How to perform any action in my daily life.
Mine should be free from the fruits,
Desire for the fruit,
Any expectation.
And second thing,
It should be free from the ego sense.
Second part of the practices,
You see breathing practices,
Mantra,
Japa.
There are hundreds of practices to trigger that mind,
Which is seeking the pleasure to help the mind to return inside.
One group of practice,
Which contains hundreds and thousands of practices,
But it should be learned under a teacher with the clarity,
What mode,
What is the mental state,
What is the level of your awareness,
Then only you succeed.
The second group of practices is emotion.
You have to redirect your emotion from outside to inside.
From outside to inside.
You have to ask your mind,
I love you,
Honey,
My daughter,
My son,
But what is this love I must understand.
That love will come and go.
Now see the point here,
Why we redirect the emotion.
I love you only because I like you first in my mind.
If I don't like you,
How can I love you?
And the liking causes the attachment.
It never causes the love and that leads to suffering.
So that second group of the practices,
What it says in a,
Ah,
It says,
You know,
Like behind the monitor,
I have the very first picture of my master with myself.
Now see the point,
Understand that that leads to dispersion.
I love my master.
So every time,
You know,
I'm giving a lesson,
My eyes goes there and I feel I'm filled with that love for my master.
Can my master ever cheat me or deceit me?
He's an epitome of kindness,
Love,
Knowledge,
Wisdom.
I lived with him for 26 years,
So I know him.
That is not attachment.
In religion,
We say love God.
That is another tool.
So we redirect our emotion,
But that God should be understood in the intellect as an epitome of love minus punishment,
Minus any kind of a confession.
You pick up any image,
That is one way.
Or simply love that existence,
Redirect your love to the existence.
Third group of practices is by thinking.
What is thinking?
Can I tell you why you behave the way you behave and act every day?
Why you get upset,
Why you react?
So I'm just giving you a glimpse of it.
When we sleep,
All the desires also sleep with us.
And when you wake up in the morning,
So desire also wakes up.
All over,
Say for example,
You fought with the near end ear once today and then you sleep.
The next day you wake up in the morning,
That guy must come into your mind.
Tell me if it is not true.
So before those desires take over your mind and you sit,
The moment you wake up,
In the morning,
I will be in the state of well-being,
Peace and happiness.
Behind all my thoughts,
Speech and action with the people,
In my personal professional life,
I will speak,
Think and act with peace and calmness behind.
Simple.
So you don't allow the desire to take over your mind so you don't allow the desire to take over your mind.
Before that you start thinking in that way.
That is another group of practices.
So this group of practices also has 1000 practices.
I'm just giving a brief of it.
Then what we are doing is a contemplation and the reflection.
We are going deeper and understanding what exactly is the dispassion.
So that is another practice.
So we are already doing the practice of dispassion.
Dispession is not renunciation.
Dispession is not force control.
Dispession is not forcing your mind to do this and that.
No.
With that clarity of understanding that here is a poison,
Which I was,
My mind was claiming as a pleasure and then what happens,
The mind leaves that.
So it's a very subtle step.
Very subtle step.
A couple of more points.
It is neither attachment nor detachment.
It is just in the middle.
The intellect is fully aware that if I am attached,
Poison,
Even if I am detached,
The pendulum will swing to the attachment again.
You know,
Attachment and detachment in the mind swings like a pendulum.
So once we have the intellect in between discernment,
The mind becomes very clear and that clear mind is always ready for meditation.
Are you getting it?
So you need to think.
It is not only by thinking.
It is not only by doing some practices.
It is not only doing,
Redirecting your emotion.
And remember,
You have to play,
You have to play with your mind with the practice of discernment that I covered last week.
Discernment.
When the discernment is there,
It dispassion grows and it reaches to its peak.
You have heard many masters,
You have read in the Google,
Mindfulness is effortless natural.
It is not a practice.
Why?
For only for those people who have reached dispassion 100%.
There is a 100% dispassion.
You are already living into the meditative state.
You need not to practice.
Now the meditation chairs you.
Meditation follows you wherever you go.
Meditation follows you.
Many examples I give you.
Are you listening to me?
Yes.
At the same time,
Are you listening to the mind?
The mind is thinking something.
It is not 100% dispassion because mind is already thinking somewhere and you are listening to me.
Hundreds of examples I can give you.
Just here and now.
I said sugar is a poison and still I claim that it is a pleasure and then your mind reminds you,
Oh not only sugar,
But I have my mind is passionate about these stuff of eating these clothes,
These lipsticks.
Mind instantly remembers that is not dispassion.
You are not used to that 100% of dispassion.
Dispassion means where you are,
Where your body is,
Where your mind is and the intellect is settled in wisdom.
That is one more definition of dispassion.
Where you are?
Here.
Here.
Physically,
Mentally and intellect found its home in the wisdom of the real and the unreal.
Don't be conscious.
That is what I observe also having a virtual session.
I say I should have videos of you how many times you have moved your body.
That also tells me so don't be conscious from the next session.
So it is not only,
You know,
We understand.
That's why we say the presence of a teacher is required so I can come out.
That is a teacher.
I can understand where your mind is sitting.
If it is sitting in the body and body is inert,
What is made up of chemicals and if the mind is totally sitting in the body,
Oh,
Visiting will be there or sleeping like an obese guy.
I gave an example.
So we understand it,
But we go slowly out of love and care.
Okay,
These are it cannot happen in a day because I've challenged your mind.
Your mind will react and it will continue to think negatively.
So we teach you go slowly.
Okay,
Okay,
You are good.
Then you give me 100 reasons why my body moved.
Come on,
Body is a matter,
Inert matter like a phone.
Does can the phone know itself?
No.
Can this phone know me?
No.
Same way with the body.
Same way with the body.
So when the intellect is settled in the wisdom and that intellect says come on body,
Your matter,
Sit,
Finished.
No issue with the body.
That also leads to the highest level of dispassion.
And the highest level of dispassion.
Then what happens?
Then the mind does not want to sit in the body.
Then it listens to the instructions.
Then the intellect which is settled in the wisdom tells the mind what the teacher is saying.
Follow it or keep remembering that emptiness of the mind is the key.
Thought comes not desire.
Emotion comes not desire at this time.
So when you live into that awareness,
My friend,
It leads you to the highest level of dispassion.
What master says?
Master says when you live into the highest level of dispassion,
What happens?
Where is the result?
You are already in meditation.
You are living in meditation.
This is what the master says in the fifth and the last sutra about the practice.
And then from the next week,
We will understand there are how many stages of meditation based on this dispassion only?
Five percent dispassion.
God knows when you will succeed in meditation.
Twenty five percent dispassion.
Okay,
Let me pull my mind.
There are more absentees than presents.
Fifty percent dispassion.
So mind reminds you again and again.
I have to go to this session again and listen to this beer guy to find out the way.
Seventy five percent,
90 percent,
100 percent.
Think of this.
Think of this.
This is the way.
Now,
I'm not to blame.
I'm putting I'm giving you 100 percent.
You see that I'm giving you 100 percent.
In every session provided,
Is your mind ready to take 100 percent?
Then you are there.
It took me many years.
I was totally fool and still I'm fool.
It took me many years.
And you cannot resist and you cannot stay the traditional teaching.
The closer you are to the master and the master fires you,
Even if you do a very small mistake.
Get out of my monastery.
My master told me many a times.
But master,
I love you.
Get out of it.
So I realized I started contemplating what fault I did.
So I used to go out of the gate,
Main gate of the monastery,
And I used to spread the mat and I said,
I'm sleeping.
I'm out of your monastery.
My master was very kind enough in the middle of the night.
He said,
No,
No,
Call this guy.
He's not going to leave.
So we had totally a different relationship.
If I start saying something like this,
You know,
It'll put me into a problem.
Privacy,
Right?
You know,
Privacy.
Understand that.
So understand that the highest level of dispassion leads us to reach to that meditative state.
Michelle had to go.
So let us start our meditation practice.
Close your eyes.
Eyes are closed.
The first thing we do is looking at the body and looking at the body and awareness of the body.
Now see,
Apply that dispassion.
Apply the dispassion two days after learning it.
What is that dispassion?
First,
From the discernment.
Ask your mind,
Am I the body?
No,
I am not the body.
So it means if I'm not the car,
I throw the car outside.
No.
Only in the intellect,
I am aware I'm not the body.
Let me look at the body and I find the body is steady because the body is a matter.
How simple it is.
And okay,
Body is a matter.
Very good.
Body is a matter.
So let me see inside my forehead.
What do I see inside my forehead?
Do I see the space or do I see?
Do I see?
Thoughts.
Oh,
I see thoughts.
Okay,
I see the thoughts.
So let me see.
These thoughts are different from the mind.
Now see the power of discernment.
When I know this is not my house,
This is neighbor's house,
I entered wrongly.
What do I do?
I return.
I go back to my house.
Back to my house.
Mind,
You look inside and the thought makes you outside and just discern means thoughts on one side in between there is an awareness on the other side your mind is free.
That is the meaning of being carefree.
See that?
How simple,
But this simple.
This becomes simple only when you contemplate,
Do the daily practice and you reflect on it.
You think of it,
You ask questions to your mind,
You solve it.
If you don't find the answer,
I am always there.
So being comfortable now being comfortable,
I reverse the step.
Being carefree is like the birds flying in the sky.
The sky is always there.
That sky is not tainted by the flying birds means it is separate.
It is different.
Any good thought,
Any bad thought,
I will eat sugar.
Okay,
At this moment we are just saying that thoughts are a way different from me.
Now my honey is crazy.
No,
This is also a thought I'm separate from it.
My honey is very good.
That is also a thought it is different from me.
You know,
That is what the discernment is.
Discernment it,
So once you have a discernment in the field of awareness,
What happens?
Dispression is natural.
You know what is desired and not desired?
The mind calms down.
Then the mind does not sit in the body like an obese guy.
I explained to you it maintains its awareness.
See that?
You see the entire subtle nature of understanding.
Meditation is not,
You know,
I know just close your eyes focus on the breath,
Breath mindfulness,
Eating mindfulness,
Walking mindfulness.
No,
It has nothing to do with traditional wisdom.
And traditional wisdom is much more advanced than what we understand without knowing these principles.
And then you see that,
You know,
You so I told you dispassion is reached by different methods and one of them is the breathing.
How simple now you see that you have a clarity.
What clarity means?
Whenever your mind is in anxiety,
Duality,
First thing settle the body in steadiness,
Then check if the mind is looking within,
Then check the mind is aware,
Separating itself from the thought.
When that happens,
That state is reached,
Then only if you breathe,
Do the breathing practice will bring the result.
What normally we talk about it?
Breathing mindfulness.
So now look deep inside,
Look deep inside the forehead in the keep looking there and start breathing quite short and gentle breath is a playful breath.
Don't do it like that beautiful girl in the front in Princeton,
Who had three surgeries.
Mind should not react and hesitate with the breathing.
It should be playful continue.
Now I'm doing with you just playful breath.
So it will also tell you whether you have that power of dispassion in you or not.
By doing for a longer period will be doing for only three minutes today.
So So So and stop this.
Start breathing deep,
Silent and slow.
So we'll use the breathing and emotion redirecting that emotion.
So you can add something.
So what you do when you inhale deep silence slow move the mind from the crown of the head to the tailbone saying in your mind that peace and love is descending and spreading into my whole body.
And while breathing out,
Make the humming sound that I'm lifting myself and reaching to that eternal love doing the humming sound.
So first inhale the peace and the love is descending into me.
Did I tell you thought process also helps us.
Another group of practice to reach to that dispassion.
And every time you when you are doing the humming sound,
The mind is rising about leaving all the pleasure seeking thoughts.
So So longer,
Deeper and continue.
But now you have edited thought.
Any thought you can add based on after contemplation thinking.
I just gave an example continue with that thought process.
So So Now And now stop it.
You see another practice of dispassion and dispassion?
Just check it.
You have done it before but that will open your eyes.
Look at the head and the neck.
The breath is normal.
You bypass the body and the breath but then you look at the head and the neck.
Be there.
Move the mind all around.
Means what?
Discerning with the practice and also the mind.
Experience sensation,
Relaxation and stillness.
So what is happening here?
We are moving slowly.
We are intensifying awareness by repeating the mind,
Moving the mind on the part of the body and then we discover the sensation,
Deeper relaxation and the stillness in that part of the body.
What happens?
That moves the mind within.
Simple.
So once we understand there is a clarity of understanding then the discernment works easily.
Look at the right arm.
Good.
Then move the mind on the right arm from the shoulder to the fingertips.
Just be there and then you understand.
You be there.
You experience sensation,
Relaxation and stillness.
The mind moves on the left arm.
You see the mind that continues to move outside which is the pleasure seeking mind and casually you're simply asking the mind to move on the left arm.
You can intensify your experience if I use the phrase move the mind on every cell of the left arm of the body as if the mind is touching the skin,
The cell of the skin of the left arm.
What happens?
You will find sensation deepens,
Relaxation deepens and there comes the stillness in the body.
One guy here when I see it is the stillness in the body,
It is not the stillness of the body and he said I don't know which force in me kept the body still which I was not able to do for many weeks.
That is the importance of listening to the teacher.
Move the mind on the chest in the valley all around.
Feel.
Let the mind move to every cell of the skin of the middle portion of the body.
The rib cage in the front and the back,
Belly in the front and the spine and then shoulders on the back.
Just be there.
So when you are there you experience sensation,
Relaxation and stillness.
Is that sensation relaxation and stillness?
Is meditation is the meditative state?
No it is a helper of the meditative state.
You see that is what we say.
It reveals.
Why?
Because discernment and dispassion works at the highest level in the state of relaxation and stillness.
But why?
In that state of sensation,
Relaxation and stillness,
Mind says to itself that you know I need not to go outside and run after for pleasure seeking and that mind is required.
Move the mind on the right leg from the right side of the waist to the toes.
Checking,
Moving to every cell of the body.
Oh that is moving every cell of the body.
Yes and experience sensation,
Relaxation and stillness.
Moving the mind on the left leg,
Just being there,
Feeling sensation,
Relaxation and stillness.
The entire body from the top to the toes.
So you discover sensation,
Relaxation and stillness.
Now in that state check the mind naturally lives within and we don't.
We engage the mind again,
Moving the mind.
Now it is contemplative step.
You know I told you the highest level of dispassion is nothing but meditative state.
So walking the mind from the crown of the head to the belly button.
When you walk the mind,
Drop Om Shanti.
Okay and as you say Om Shanti,
When you say Om,
It is your real nature,
Pure consciousness and Shanti is an expression of the peace.
Again,
Return to the crown of the head and dropping to the belly button.
Now walking the mind from the crown of the head to the heart inside with the same mantra,
Om Shanti and behind Om Shanti there is a contemplation.
Non-verbal Om,
Yes.
I say Sophie or John,
You just say yes.
Same way,
Om Shanti.
Now moving the mind from the crown of the head to inside the forehead at any point.
You see it is such a small distance to cover.
It is because we want to merge the mind with Om Shanti.
It's a non-verbal.
You simply know it.
When you see me,
You know it,
You don't think.
So mind seems to as if stops and stays there.
I tweak a little in the every meditation practice.
It becomes different based on our lesson,
Based on our the topic that we cover.
So when you go through it,
You do the practice,
You realize,
Oh yes it is.
So we will do nothing,
Remain in that state.
Remember,
Concluding meditation.
So state of doing nothing is the state of dispersion and discernment is at the peak.
We will share our experiences once you return from it.
Shanti Shanti Shanti Shanti Shanti Shanti Shanti Shanti guarding god is Audacity because he is this way Quran says that a daily Joinations can not be Shanti Shanti Shanti Bring your mind on the right hand,
Your mind on the left hand,
Lift your Buddha palms,
Place it on your eyes,
Open the eyes inside,
Know your experiences,
Bring the hands down and we will share our experiences now.
How are you Sophie?
See the lips are moving,
Yes now it is okay.
Yeah,
Very good,
Thank you.
Thank you.
I have a question for later.
Okay,
We will take a good question later.
How are you John?
Indigo blue.
Indigo.
Indigo blue.
Yes,
Indigo blue is subtle,
Mind has become subtle and it is a deeper experience.
Good.
How are you John?
Okay,
Good.
I am doing a better job of emptying my mind and it is amazing to me how quickly all this goes.
So beautiful.
It means the mind is totally absorbed inside.
Mind is absorbed,
It is a sense of timelessness,
How quickly it goes.
The mind realizes this,
Oh,
It goes so fast.
How the 10 minutes go fast so that it becomes one minute.
It is a timelessness.
You see that?
So that is how we interpret.
That's good,
It means yes,
We are progressing and evolving.
How are you me?
Meet on mute first.
There we go.
Yeah.
Hi.
Hi.
Oh,
I feel like I'm coming home.
Coming home to something beautiful.
Beautiful.
Beautiful.
Coming home.
Your hand was disconnected so she will connect again.
So coming home there is another principle in one of the texts,
Sadhana Panchakam.
Yeah,
John is again.
So in Sadhana Panchakam,
We say,
The master says,
Return to your real home.
The physical home,
The home of the body is our physical home.
We address.
The home of the mind is calmness and relaxation and home of the intellect is wisdom.
Behind that there is a real home.
So I translated your expression based on the principles.
How are you Anne?
I'm fine,
Yeah.
I feel good.
Feel good,
Yes.
Always feel good,
Live in the state of discretion.
So what is your question,
Sophie?
The last time you mentioned the six inner treasures and the second one was Dhamma.
I'm not pronouncing it.
Yes,
You are pronouncing correctly.
And I didn't really understand.
Yeah,
You did.
You gave the example,
Walking in the street and people thinking you were Santa Claus.
And you said that it's what our senses don't go in objects?
Yes,
That is the real essence of the Dhamma.
Dhamma means that first become aware.
Where our senses are,
My eyes are there on something.
Say for example,
On an object that my mind wants desperately.
My nose is somewhere on some fragrance.
My tongue is running after a particular taste.
My touch demands something,
Some kind of a pleasure.
So I become aware of it and I see what the mind is cooking inside.
And I throw that from my mind so that the sense organ becomes virgin if I see.
Now they simply look at.
They look,
They know,
They understand but there is no attachment.
The mind is not creating any fashion.
You know,
Sometimes have you seen that especially it happens with the beautiful women,
They say,
Why you are staring me?
You know,
You might have experienced that.
So you are looking and staring both from your eyes.
So you are going against the Dhamma.
That staring means the mind is cooking something inside.
So you see clarity is so much clarity is there about the mind Dhamma.
And the third treasure is known as Uparati.
Uparati,
Upa means above.
You are above the sense organs and you are above the mind that causes the anxiety.
You remain in that state of calmness.
Uparati,
You know Uparati,
The word is Up.
Up means above.
Rati means you can say totally absorbed.
So where the mind is absorbed,
The mind is absorbed inside,
Enjoying.
Yes,
I appreciate what is beautiful outside,
But no clinging.
But still the mind does not understand clearly.
So the mind runs after these pleasures through the sense organs.
So we have the fourth step.
Fourth treasure is known as Ditiksha,
Endurance,
To build the endurance.
Why?
Why you are going there?
Why you have that sense of attachment?
You question,
You practice so that you develop a level of endurance.
So once you have these four treasures,
The fifth treasure comes naturally.
That is known as faith.
Belief,
Faith.
What is that faith?
Peace and happiness is within me.
I have tested,
I have seen it.
My mind is not attached.
My mind is not running after anything outside and I still feel so much of calmness.
If I understand it more,
If I go deeper,
I know happiness lies within me.
The faith and the sixth treasure is,
Then the mind remains one-pointed all the time,
Wherever it goes.
So where it goes?
In the session today.
So the moment I met you virtually,
I started this session.
No preference,
No likes,
No dislikes,
No attachment,
No detachment,
Just the mind remains focused.
When it remains focused,
What happens?
That mind reveals the knowledge which you already have it.
It becomes a play.
It is spontaneous.
You need not to worry about it.
You need not to go to the text again.
The mind step by step reveals and it reveals those examples and that is what I do it.
So for me it's a play and a fun.
It happens.
Just reach,
Follow those six treasures and you will see it is so easy.
From where those real life examples enter into your mind,
You don't know,
You don't want to know.
It is happening.
It's a play,
It's a fun.
Thank you.
Very good.
I see the smile on everyone's face.
Keep smiling until next week.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
