What we did last time,

We understood what exactly is the real self and that real self can be known as God.

So God is known as here Ishvara.

So the first verse out of the five verses we have about.

Now another beautiful,

You know sometimes what happens you know it is very easy I know Stephen,

Stephen knows me,

Very good.

But do I know real self?

Then I have to express in the same language so we hear it and the mind says I know it I have understood and after the session is over,

Then the blower disturbs you,

Everything is gone.

So that understanding should be supported by practice,

Practice,

Practice.

You see I relate everything in that moment.

So that makes sense.

So now understand the second sutra pertaining to what we say,

What we normally talk about,

God.

I was just talking that God is not 5,

000 years old.

If it is 5,

000 years old now he might be dead.

Understand.

So we are not talking of that God which lives in time,

Which lives in space,

That is.

So what is this sutra?

It's such a beautiful sutra.

So I will go slowly.

There are four open issues only based on this sutra.

Totally they talk about this but here the Patanjali because Patanjali has to give you a sutra,

A phrase,

A zip file,

So I will try to open it.

Tatra Nirati Shyam Sarvajnabhijam.

What a beautiful,

Once you know it,

Tatra Nirati Shyam Sarvajnabhijam.

It is the first chapter,

25th sutra.

So let me literally translate and then we will understand it in a simple way.

So translation would be,

There the seed of all the knowing is present,

That is God.

Means He is the nature of all knowledge.

So all knowing means omniscient.

That is what we say but now we have to understand.

Not omniscient is a word,

Oh he is omniscient,

You know what I have to do.

Let him be omniscient.

No our real nature is omniscient.

So let us understand.

First part,

Knowledge sleeps is ignorance and doubt.

What it means?

I do not know Sam for example,

Does not mean the Sam does not exist.

Do you see the Sam here?

It does not mean,

It only means I am ignorant about Sam.

Right?

So knowledge of Sam remains forever.

Knowledge does not die.

Do you see that?

Knowledge of the Sam will remain forever.

Second part is that even if I take birth or die the knowledge does not change.

Am I clear?

I told you that this sutra can be covered by understanding four Upanishads.

So but this is compressed sutra.

So there is I'm bringing another sutra,

A mantra from Tetriya Upanishad.

What it says that real self is truth,

First word,

Infinity and knowledge.

So from there we get some understanding.

So what is real self?

That real self is one.

Gold is one.

We have different names you know,

Earring,

Nose pin,

The same way we all are present here are different forms of the gold but we are essentially gold.

So what he says the real self is truth,

Infinity and knowledge.

So now understand what do you mean by infinity?

We will pick up one by one.

The word Anantam is known as infinity.

Lastly you are infinite.

As long as you are limited you will continue to suffer.

So once you recognize and realize you are infinity.

So real self is infinity.

So what is the meaning of the word infinity means unlimited?

Right?

So what is that meaning of unlimited?

What is the meaning of unlimited?

Unlimited in space,

Unlimited in time,

Unlimited in object.

That is the meaning of unlimited right?

Clear?

I'm going slow here it takes lot of study,

Contemplation and higher meditation.

So now if there is time limitation then what happens?

So now take it.

If there is a space limitation it means I am here at my home I am NOT there.

So what the real self is means?

Real self is everywhere.

That is how it is unlimited in space.

Clear?

If there is a time limitation then what happens?

Time limitation then I take birth and I die.

So what is that nature of the real self?

It is unlimited in time.

It means I never take birth I never die.

Who is that I?

That I is real self.

Are you getting it?

And if there is an object limitation it means it means what?

Take an example you are Sam but you are not Stephen that is the object limitation.

You are brandy but you are not Christina that is the object limitation.

So real self is not limited by object by space by time and that real self is you.

That is what we discover by meditation by yoga.

Now the second word the real self is truth.

So what is the meaning of the truth?

Truth means it always exists.

That truth that which is truth never do not exist it means it always exists.

How it exists?

Can I see it?

Yes I can only see in meditation.

Do I see my home?

And I forget about the space.

The space is always there.

I see brandy as I am and all of you including myself but I don't see what is behind it.

What is that continues to exist and that continues to exist is known as the truth.

But now our sutra is Tatra what is that sutra?

Tatra Nirati Shyam.

Tatra Nirati Shyam Sarvajna Bijam.

Now we come to the knowledge.

You know that sutra simply means he is the source of all knowledge.

Knowledge is now come to is knowledge consciousness question yourself.

I know you you know me is knowledge clear?

There is knowledge.

It takes time.

One has to be a seeker then only we can enter into that state.

See I know you you know me is knowledge?

Yes but this knowledge is of me and you are not limited.

Are you clear?

What is behind that knowledge?

It is consciousness.

So that consciousness is either knowledge or contains knowledge.

Now I'm not speaking in cryptic language but encrypted language but it comes when we study when we commit ourselves then it makes a sense.

But you know many of you have been undergoing this these sessions for the last one year so it will make a sense.

So knowledge is unlimited and truth is what we are.

So what means knowledge is consciousness and the consciousness that knowledge is consciousness and that consciousness is the knowledge.

So Patanjali says,

Tatra Nirati Shyam Sarvajna Bijam.

If it is God it lies within dwells within me in my heart and that is real self that is of the nature of pure knowledge.

Knowledge never sleeps,

Knowledge never dies but without consciousness there cannot be knowledge.

Mouse.

Does this mouse knows me and you all?

I'm pointing this mouse to you all.

It does not have consciousness.

So where there is a consciousness there is a knowledge.

Knowledge of reality that is why we say that knowledge of reality is hidden behind that mind.

Leslie you are truth,

You are infinity,

You are consciousness.

Not less than that,

Not more than that.

So the moment you limit yourself,

How you limit yourself?

By the mind.

By creating wrong notion,

Wrong ideas about yourself and the moment you create a wrong notion and ideas about.

So what happens?

You identify yourself with that limited knowledge and that limited knowledge causes you the suffering,

Pain,

Problem.

Nirati Shyam.

So the word Nirati Shyam means no one that extends him.

No one.

Look at it.

Your mind says I don't want to understand this is a crazy stuff.

It means you will continue to live in ignorance.

No option.

Continue to live.

Continue to suffer.

Blame others,

Complain others.

But when you are a seeker,

Oh wow I am.

I am truth.

I am infinity.

I am knowledge.

Wow.

You see that?

But how?

I don't realize.

Let me work on it.

Let me commit myself to know myself.

But again again that consciousness,

That real self is here and now.

You don't see it.

Why you don't see it is the mind is blocking you.

It is here and now.

Are you not here?

So that is why it is here and now.

So mind,

You see that?

It is here and now.

It is,

That is why another Upanishad says what it says it is in the water but not the water.

Did you acquire that ability of the mind after becoming a seeker to see,

To see what is behind the name and the form?

Who am I?

You know my name.

You have my form.

But can,

Do I have the ability to see behind the name and the form?

That is where the meditation comes.

So when I see that is it,

That is why that Upanishad,

Beautiful Upanishad,

Perhaps it is a Dhyan Upanishad that says it is in the water but not the water.

It is in the earth but not the earth.

It is in the body but not the body.

It is in the mind but not the mind.

It is in the thought but not the thought.

Say something without consciousness.

If consciousness is not there,

There is no body,

There is no.

.

.

You see that?

When the person dies we go to see that guy.

We say oh he has left.

Who has left?

Body is already there.

Who has left?

Who has left?

That real Self has left which was manifesting that body.

It is still there but mind now works.

So what happens?

That is why we say katra nirati shayam bhi jam sarvakya.

Sarvakya means so many see and all knowledge.

That knowledge is always there and the knowledge without consciousness cannot be there.

I gave an example of the mouse.

Real Self is here but he cannot this mouse cannot know it.

I am conscious.

I can know it.

I can practice yoga.

Mouse cannot.

Animals cannot.

Another master explains that it is not only of the nature of knowledge.

It's a long topic but let me briefly touch upon it.

There is an ultimate satisfaction at all time.

When you have ultimate satisfaction at all the time you have reached there.

Ultimate satisfaction.

You have ultimate satisfaction there cannot be anxiety but it does not mean that you are hungry you don't eat food.

Don't take it otherwise.

You have an urge to go to the restroom why should I go?

I have ultimate satisfaction.

So little knowledge is dangerous thing.

Little knowledge is very dangerous.

You know many people when I used to oh you have taught me this you know then I am God.

So he went to his home and he told his honey that I am God.

He told him that I'm going to take a divorce from the God.

I don't like this kind of a God.

I've encountered lot of issues.

I receive almost 30 40 emails.

Some are good stuff some are crazy stuff.

So first is what is the characteristic?

First is knowledge ultimate satisfaction.

Then what happens?

Then the third mind lives in beginningless wisdom.

There is no beginning.

There is no end.

And what is that wisdom?

That wisdom comes from the knowledge.

What is that knowledge?

That is what Patanjali is saying.

The knowledge consciousness is that real self.

You see that is how other Upanishads,

Other teachers explain it better.

So three points.

Three points.

Ultimate satisfaction,

Omniscience,

Beginningless wisdom,

Sovereignty.

Sovern.

You know we say we are sovereign republic but Republic is still limited.

Well we belong to North America continent.

Universes so good.

So here the master is saying Nityam.

Nityam word yeah used.

Nityam.

What?

Power that never diminishes.

That power of consciousness,

That power of knowledge and it is Anantam,

Infinite infinity.

So that is how other people explain the nature of the real self where it dwells.

It dwells deeper within me.

I am not within me.

If I say I am the body then I can say that it dwells within me.

But I am that.

That expresses itself through the mind,

Through the body,

Through the sense organ.

The way again I am repeating the way the electricity.

How can I see the electricity?

No but I see it.

I see I have a camera light here.

But camera light is not electricity but I still I see it.

It is behind.

I am aware that seeing,

That seeing,

That perception is the ultimate state of meditation.

Not seeing through the science or not seeing through the space-time in object and that is what is known as awakening.

So we will start our journey of meditation.

Close your eyes.

Close your eyes and the body.

You are looking at the body.

Very good.

You are looking at the body.

Yes.

So body is steady.

Now the body is steady.

You experience that steadiness in the body and the mind is looking inside the heart today.

Mind always works with the time,

With the space,

With an object.

That's why I say heart is an object.

Mind look deep inside the heart anywhere.

Don't stretch your mind unnecessarily.

What heart you are talking the center of the heart,

Not the physical one.

The space and then because the entire journey of meditation is moving within,

Living within,

Awakening within.

So let us go for it.

What is that moving within?

First we have to settle everything.

You cannot jump inside your home.

You park your car in the garage then you locate the door then you open it the same way,

The same process.

So first we settle the body being comfortable looking at the neck joint.

Are you listening to me or listening to your mind?

You have to listen to me only for another half an hour.

So looking at the neck joint gently,

Softly and you experience sensation,

Comfortable and steadiness.

So what is behind that?

What is behind an experience of sensation,

Comfortable and steadiness?

Oh it is I see the space only.

No problem.

Be there.

Why?

We want to break the limitations caused by the mind because of wrong notions and it is purely practical.

Nothing is religious,

Cultish,

Dog-mish.

Move the mind on the shoulder joints,

Be there.

What I'm saying?

Just be there.

I'm not asking you to do anything so you are there.

You feel the sensation,

You're comfortable,

You're steadiness.

And then the space,

The entire body,

Just you're looking all the joints of the body.

There are two functions,

There are two results of this step.

First is the mind finds a perfect alignment with the body so the body doesn't disturb you.

How?

The mind doesn't go again and again to the body.

Why?

Moving within,

Living within is the journey.

So looking at the neck joint,

Shoulder joints.

So some people what they do normally when I say shoulder joint they say okay let me move the shoulder joint.

No.

The mind should move to the shoulder joint.

Shoulder joint should not move to the mind.

It will never happen.

So once you live into that state of awareness the journey becomes easy and experience sensation,

Being comfortable and steadiness in the body.

That is your experience and what about going beyond the experience?

No,

I find the space no issue.

The space is there and we will continue with the purification but that purification now naturally focus your mind.

Start breathing little deep silent and slow.

There are four points of awareness in that nyasa.

Check,

Understand,

Become aware.

If the mind wants to go out it will cause anxiousness even with the deep silent and slow breath.

So what do you check?

You breathe in such a way the mind enjoys.

One,

Remains aware.

Two,

And do not fall into sleep in laziness.

Three,

Is not distracted.

How it happens?

When you find a perfect rhythm of the breath.

We are not competing who is breathing deep.

So that is the first point and then I say this moving breath is like your car.

You have to drive with your awareness of the mind.

Where you have to drive?

Inside the major parts of the body on the highway and what is that highway is the space.

Oh and then recite the mantra ohm.

So what happens as you inhale move the mind inside the right arm from the shoulder to the fingertips in the space inside reciting mentally and listening to it and again when you exhale the mind is moving with the breath from the fingertips inside on the highway to the shoulder again reciting.

It gives a natural focus to your natural focus.

You're not making any effort.

You are continuing the journey and you may discover the stillness in the body continues.

You may have variety of other experiences of numbness tingling in the body.

What should I do?

Recognize and accept.

You may have certain vision also.

No problem.

No issue.

Let those vision and color also come.

Let them come.

Let them go.

And now move the mind and the breath inside the left arm in the same way.

Four point of awareness.

Movement of the breath.

Mind is moving with the breath reciting and singing and you are aware of the space inside.

Why I specify that you are aware of the space inside if the mind is still attached to anything outside including your body.

Yeah it was and I feel so much of discomfort.

What the heck?

So it means we have to persist.

We have to sustain the practice to reach to that state.

Simple way to understand all these stuff.

What a beauty you see that.

Once you practice with the clarity and understanding the meditation becomes deeper.

That is what the traditional wisdom is.

And now move the mind inside the right leg.

It's not the teacher.

It is the teacher.

It's not the teacher outside.

It is the teacher within you.

Are you thinking of something or moving the mind the breath and the home so that thinking will break up because you are reciting home with the movement of the breath on the highway inside.

Now inside the left leg.

Three words moving within consciously.

You know then I can continue to expand these three words moving within,

Living within,

Awakening within,

Moving within consciously,

Moving the mind within consciously,

Moving the pure mind within consciously.

You see I can summarize the entire yoga sutra in the very practice.

Now moving the mind from the crown of the head with the breath to the tailbone and from the tailbone to the crown of the head.

There is a stillness in the body.

The mind is not enforcing the stillness so mind is free.

See that when the mind is free and it is moving within with the breath at this moment.

See that where it is moving inside the spine.

Very good.

What it is doing it is reciting.

Oh that is what it is.

Oh Oh Mind may say I have done it what should I do next?

Next do the same thing.

So you have to treat your mind with awareness not with a conflict in the confusion.

That is why the traditional wisdom says first know it understand it then practice it.

Now we as you continue to inhale moving the mind from the top of the head,

Crown of the head to the belly button only.

So your breath may become little shorter it's okay but you continue to recite AUM and from the belly button to the crown of the head.

So we are helping the mind to rise in consciousness not fall in consciousness.

You fall in consciousness knowledge sleeps.

Knowledge sleeps.

Meditation is gone.

You are still continuing with the four-pointed awareness but our movement is from the crown of the head to the belly button and from the belly button to the crown of the head.

You know this belly button is the power the center of action.

Where action cannot take place without desire so we have a heart.

This front of the heart is also known as the mind with lot of desires but that desire cannot come without the knowledge so we have another center inside the eyebrow.

Center of knowledge.

You see the center of action,

Desire and the knowledge.

We don't want to go to the lower centers.

Now make your breath still little shorter as you inhale move the mind from the crown of the head to the heart reciting AUM as if AUM drops deep inside the heart when you inhale and when you exhale the mind moves from the heart to the crown of the head and again you recite AUM.

You may have a conscious experience oh the mind is definitely living within away from the world outside.

You you Now the normal breath but as the breath goes in from the mood of the mind from the crown of the head to the inside the forehead and just drop a smaller AUM mentally and from the as the breath naturally moves out the mind should move from the crown of the head from the forehead inside to the crown of the head and drop AUM AUM AUM very smaller.

Why?

Breath is natural.

So when we take the help of any device or a tool here we are taking the help from the breath so it comes under some Pragya meditation that is we what we discussed earlier.

You you Now we don't care about how the breath is moving leave the breath as it is and as you move the mind from the crown of the head to the belly button mentally recite as if you are dropping and you feel the center of the belly button and from there again take your own time because it is not linked to the breath now.

What will happen?

You bypass the body and the breath and from there from the belly button let the AUM rise and should touch the crown of the head.

You're reciting mentally and listening to breath.

No breath and you will find out that the mind says no no you have been doing it so the mind wants a habit meditation is not a habit.

You know sometimes you have hurt people.

Oh acquire a habit to focus your mind.

It's not a habit.

You and now this time seeing AUM move the mind from the crown of the head to the heart and from the heart to the crown of the head bypassing the breath.

Don't link it to the breath.

Are you understanding?

I believe so.

Object limitation,

Space limitation,

You know you see that's how I translate what we discussed on a given day to practice.

So this is not the only way.

Goes to the heart from the heart goes to the crown of the head.

It is like I see the earring I see the nosepin I see the necklace but I see the gold everywhere in all of them.

I recognize compare that that is what we are doing today.

You and now from the crown of the head to the forehead you simply drop AUM.

You see that the space limitation so it's a very subtle AUM.

The mind there we can transcend the mind there and the AUM continues and you ultimately live into the higher state.

That is what happens.

You you doing nothing remain as you are you in the state of doing nothing you after all you give something to the mind okay let me wait let the knowledge reveal by itself so you might have seen you know many hundreds of different practices of meditation that I give the last step is common shanti shanti shanti shanti shanti bring your awareness on the right hand your awareness on the left hand left your both the palms place it on your eyes open the eyes inside know your experiences bring the hands down now we'll share our experiences how are you brandy I'm good my body I guess my mind tries to get me to really like be distracted like today I was super itchy you know and I'm not I don't have really have any edges so I have to decide not to go there a lot it worked it were yes it is the mind that is the cause of the problem the mind experiences the itchiness not the body so once we have that awareness you'll need to unlock your device first so you can get out of it how are you Sam I didn't understand that even I put it on the silent mode and still you know Google assistant perhaps it might be doing meditation how are you one of the ones where I would say I definitely want control of my body a little bit which was good so I was away from it I there were a couple times where I had to catch my that's my head moving this way but I was aware you know being conscious but not my body was moving but it was similar they just quiet quiet that's good deeper that's a deeper that's what happens how are you Stephen I'm good my meditation was extremely quiet it was I would use the term expansive that's good in in the especially with the breathing on the first part of the breathing of going from the crown to the tailbone I felt that I went past the crown and I went past the tailbone and it wasn't until the second time that we went and dropped the home in the reverse method that I felt where I was hitting the points that I was at my crown I was at the heart I was at the belly button I was at the middle of the forehead but outside of that just just total silence totally calmness yes there was nothing outside of exactly what we were doing and it was over fast like always that's really good it's a deeper but one thing don't start teaching these things but the way you have experienced that it bypassed the crown of the head and it bypassed the tailbone so what happens you know we have a permanent peace consciousness just four inches above the forehead so normally that when we do this practice the mind pours peace and quietness and the silence from there it is just about it is not inside so once it enters we experience so that's a good part hey how are you Terry I'm pretty good I was having a hard time settling but after I still went to a place yeah I didn't get annoyed about it I was aware of it beautiful yeah yeah yeah but you did wonderful I could see keep smiling how are you Terry we and I and Terry met in 2007 only and since then we are more or less together how are you Lara?

I am good.

At the beginning of the meditation I got very very very heavy yeah and then I experienced this big lightness and almost this spaciousness during the meditation and it was really it was very quick the other thing the the woman that I had like last week she keeps coming I see her very clearly and I see the earrings and the nose ring and it's very interesting how I see the sari that she carries.

If I could draw very well I could draw her.

I also in an art museum that I've been to before as well during the meditation which is very interesting and then I was outside of another building and I also know but not in the same country so I don't know what the symbols are or the past impressions.

One thing is clear that when we see them the mind is already deeper within.

So first thing the mind is deeper within sometime the mind lives with these past impressions and after that you it drops completely you enter into the higher state wonderful beautiful experience.

How are you Christina?

So we have two three people here.

I had a very calm and quiet experience.

It was almost fast but at the same time it wasn't.

I almost don't know how to explain it right now but it was very I heard I was able to hear I feel like I didn't listen to you almost but like I was there the whole time.

I was bummed at the end I was like oh he's finishing up but I didn't hear him.

I wanted to like hear I don't know I was just interesting but I was able to like I heard like my family moving around at some points but it was like it was just like a little like tap and then it was like oh God.

So it was nice to feel that I can finally be here and let that happen.

Look at your face look at your expression now and couple of weeks before.

You see the difference?

The difference takes place because you have started realizing that the peace is your essential nature.

You have nothing to do with those words that you used to say before.

I don't want to repeat.

Why should I do it?

That needs to be understood.

That's a wonderful Krishna you are changing.

Regular practice.

How are you John?

My friend John.

We have only three four people.

Normally women are more than men.

I felt very stable this morning.

Yes I could see that.

I felt my body and my breath was stable and I was able to focus.

I found it challenging to de-link the mantra from the breath.

Yes and that challenge comes because the mind does not want to go deep inside.

That is why it holds on to some objects something outside but by regular practice that happens.

That happens.

Do you remember the breath 24 by 7?

No.

You don't remember you are talking and you're doing all this stuff so you normally bypass the breath subconsciously habitually but when it comes to do it consciously mind says I will take over you.

You cannot take over me.

So that is why the regular practice.

Beautiful John.

So how are you Kate?

I had it was interesting I went very deep very quickly and then kind of came out quickly and then I went
