For October, the hexagram from the i-Ching refers to water, wind, thunder, and the mountain. While activity around abounds, we are encouraged to take refuge in the great, wise, still mountain within. There is also a task that we are all requested to partake in. To get the most from this reading you are invited to listen to this recording again in a week or two to see what speaks to you then as perspectives may change slightly over time. Gratitude to Manuel Portillo for kindly offering his beautiful track 'Whispering Winds'.

Welcome to this I Ching reading.

The Chinese book of the I Ching means literally the book of changes.

And this book discusses the only constant in life,

Namely change.

It's a guidance for us,

Assisting us during times of change,

Be they great or small.

And while it guides,

It does not prescribe or predict.

It merely indicates a suitable course of action.

And it's very much an interactive experience,

Meaning your own intuition and knowingness will be called upon.

As I discuss the reading,

I invite you to mindfully notice things that feel right for you,

Sound right for you.

You might notice a relaxation in your physical system or a sighing out of the breath.

Look for little points of indication,

Be they physical,

Mental,

Emotional.

And they can be on either end of the scale.

So sometimes it's also the aspects that make you feel uncomfortable that need to be heeded.

The text from the I Ching originates in the form of trigrams.

And we know these lines that form the trigrams as yin or yang.

And if you would like to know more about the yin yang language,

I do have a course on yin yang.

As a basis,

Yin is the powerful feminine.

It's dark.

It's of a reflective nature.

And it is a broken line,

Whereas yang is a powerful masculine frequency,

Which is light and active in nature and is represented by a solid line.

And the archetypal yin yang philosophy,

Along with Daoism and Confucianism,

Are all at the heart of the I Ching.

I Ching was introduced into the West in the early 18th century.

And it really became popular in the 1940s,

However,

When a German missionary translated it into English.

So the way that I test to find the appropriate hexagram and reading for each month is I put into circuits the current population.

And then I massaltest all the hexagrams,

Noticing which one holds the strongest.

In other words,

Which one has the message which is most appropriate for everybody in the world population.

Right now,

If you're able to pause for a few moments,

Please do so.

So we can just spend a few moments centering and setting our intention.

If you're able to close your eyes,

Please do so.

But if you can't,

Simply feel yourself grounding down into your feet.

Feel your whole body.

Take a few deep breaths in and out,

Exhaling all thoughts,

Emotions.

Anything that's on your mind right now,

Just put that to the side.

And just bring yourself into complete presence.

And now please repeat with me.

I trust 100% that the information I now receive both externally and intuitively is for my highest good.

Breathe that in.

Exhale and let that go.

The aging hexagram appropriate and in alignment for the human population for October 2024 is number 59.

And the lines are as follows,

Starting from the bottom up.

The open Yin line followed by the closed Yang,

Followed by an open Yin.

Another open Yin,

Followed by two closed Yang lines.

The bottom triagram of Yin Yang Yin is known as Kan,

Which represents water.

The upper triagram,

Known as San,

Of Yin Yang Yang represents wind.

Known as San of Yin Yang Yang represents wind.

So we have wind above water.

Now,

Imagine that.

Wind moving across the surface of water.

Over time,

This creates dispersal.

And this is actually the name given to this hexagram,

Dispersal.

So it's something we need to be mindful of,

A dispersing of our energies,

An unnecessary dispersing,

Dispersing which can disrupt the stillness.

And this is largely what is called for in support of this time of potential dispersal.

We are called to be still.

And if we go into nature and we look for the symbol of great stillness,

We see the mountain.

And in this I Ching reading,

The mountain rests as one of the nuclear trigrams.

So the trigram above water,

It's known as Ken.

And the trigram above that is Chen,

Known as Thunder.

So if we look at this from the bottom up,

We see water,

Thunder,

Mountain,

And wind.

So there is a lot of activity happening underneath the mountain and above the mountain.

However,

The mountain has a great asset of power in its ability to be still,

To be stable,

To be steadfast.

And it's only with a great disruption that the mountain or part of the mountain can be disrupted and can be disrupted to a degree that is harmful.

So while this time does refer to disruption,

It also refers to the great strength that is present within all of us.

And it's this great strength that we are called to cultivate.

And we can do this through maintaining stability.

And we maintain stability through stillness,

Going within,

Examining ourselves.

This is a time that calls very greatly for each of us to deepen our self-awareness and then to take it a step further,

Seek knowledge,

Seek guidance,

Seek help.

So we see this referral to the lower trigram where there is a lot of yin frequency.

Here we see the symbol of water.

And this water representing a great stream means that we will reach a point of needing to cross this stream,

Move through the water.

And this represents a very specific,

Meaningful,

Purposeful task that each and every one of us will be called to perform.

And it is a spiritual task.

They are part of the collective in that the collective not only receives from them but gives to them as well.

We are urged in this time to not self-isolate.

We need to cooperate,

To live in harmony and purposefully strengthen our spiritual connection,

Our spiritual connection with nature,

With other beings.

And thereby our connection to ourself.

This requires a sincere commitment.

And should we choose this sincere commitment and follow through by performing the necessary task,

By performing the necessary task,

By cooperating,

By examining ourself in stillness,

By doing what is required of us,

Then we will be able to overcome any threats that can shake our stability and harmony.

And we will be able to resist any harmful influences.

And so over time we will experience progress and success.

So it is to our advantage,

Both individually and as a community,

To know ourselves and then to follow through with being ourselves and to take that step further to loving ourselves.

It's take a minute now just to close our eyes and sigh out.

And just be very aware of how the body is physically responding to this message,

The mental thoughts that are coming up,

The emotions,

Allowing them to be there.

And then choosing how to continue to be with them or to move them.

So let's move into this minute of awareness right now.

And let's exhale and drop that awareness.

Focusing on the breath.

And as you continue to focus on your inhalation and your exhalation,

Consider this section from verse number 58 of the Tao Te Ching,

Which corresponds to today's message for October.

The sage is four-cornered but does not cut with sharp edges,

Is sharp straight crease but does not tear,

Has straightened what was once bent,

But does not stretch things out self-indulgently,

Is as bright as blazing fire but does not flash or flare.

As we move through this month of October,

May we cultivate a sage-like quality,

Steadfast while malleable,

Focused while relaxed,

Extraordinarily ordinary.

I invite you to return here once a week during the month of October,

Or as we move through the different lunar cycles,

We will interpret and respond to this reading slightly differently each time.

So until we meet again,

Do take care.
