Whose Mind Is It Anyway? (Live Replay #15)
by Philip Wade
We talk of mind like an organ in the body. Yet what is it really? Philip clarifies it with a simple yet powerful metaphor and shows why identification with it only leads to suffering and why Peace is NOT of the mind but of a deeper essence: Awareness/Infinite Silence and how to access this easily. A guided Awareness recognition Meditation is included along with answers to Spiritual Inquiry questions. IT Group: Nothing Special with Philip Wade.

Good,
So welcome everybody.
This is another stream,
A self-realisation stream,
And the title of this one is Whose Mind Is It Anyway?
Whose Mind Is It Anyway?
And for those who may be new to it,
My name is Phillip Wade and I'm broadcasting from the Universal Studio,
This beautiful meditation space I'm in here in North Yorkshire in England.
And before I get,
Just kick off on that,
I would say welcome to everybody and for everybody who's donated so far,
It's greatly appreciated on behalf of Insight Timer and myself,
It helps Insight Timer provide the platform and people like myself reach out to people across the world.
So thank you very much for that.
So yeah,
What am I talking about when I say whose mind is it anyway and what is in fact the mind?
You know,
We use the term mind and I'm going to use mind small m for the purposes of this stream,
Almost like it's an organ in the body,
You know,
My mind,
Almost like my heart or my liver or my lungs or whatever.
But obviously if you were to drill a hole in your head,
You're not going to find something concrete that is the mind.
So you know,
We kind of use the term very,
Very loosely without really thinking about what it is.
And so from a self-realization perspective,
Those of you who have been on a number of streams now,
You know,
I like to sort of make things really simple and offer simple tools or metaphors to kind of really appreciate and understand things.
And for the mind,
It's as simple as this.
And it's like an equation or a metaphor.
Thoughts plus beliefs equals mind.
So that's thoughts plus beliefs equals mind.
You see thoughts,
You know,
Many people have had to forget what thoughts people have on average a day,
But it's a lot.
And then we start to put energy into those and we start buying those thoughts.
And that's actually what I call the weight of belief and going into those thoughts and that you start actually considering those thoughts to be,
To be real entities that are your own.
And that adds a weight of attachment to them.
And you catch what I've referred to many times on the streams that the train of thought.
And again,
As also I've said before,
The train of thought will take you to many stations,
Many stations,
But none of them,
Absolutely none of them are your truth.
And thus it is with mind,
We create the experience of mind from believing in the thoughts that are appearing on another term I've used many times,
The green screen of consciousness,
Just like in the movies,
The green screen of consciousness,
You can project anything onto this green screen.
And we can tend to have this idea,
Belief that thoughts are our thoughts,
But actually in truth,
It's not quite like that.
For as the nature of the self is realized,
What it will be seen is that thoughts are simply vibrational packets of information.
And every thought in truth that has ever been thought in the entire universe is just out there.
And what we're doing actually,
It's a little bit like tuning into a radio station.
You tune in to,
You know,
Heart FM or whatever it happens to be,
Or radio York or radio Manchester.
And it's a little bit like that with thoughts.
They each have a vibrational signature.
And we're by focusing on that,
We're tuning into that thought and we take that as ours,
But actually it's just like tuning into this vast sphere of thoughts.
And thoughts typically are very,
Very low vibrational energies.
And I make a distinction here between thoughts and inspiration.
Thoughts are very much more about must,
Should,
Or to low vibrational packets of information.
Whereas inspiration arises from before thought,
Before the idea of mind,
Before all concepts.
It in fact arises from awareness or infinite silence.
And we've all had moments of inspiration and they typically come in the quiet moments often when we least expect it,
Maybe you're in the bath or in the shower or you're out in nature and suddenly a moment of inspiration arises and that feels uplifting,
Inviting,
Inspiring.
That's what inspiration feels like and that's very,
Very different from thought,
Which is very much from identification with I am this body mind,
Which is a very contracting vibration and it has the energy of mind energy,
Which is contracting,
It's limiting,
It's should,
Must,
Ought to.
So that's a big distinction between thoughts and inspiration.
And I talk about that distinction quite a lot in quite a lot further depth on the live stream that I did,
Which is now live.
The replay,
Edited audio replay of that is now on Insight Time and that's called Trust the Heart.
So this stream fits alongside that one.
So understanding this distinction between what our thought energy,
Our belief energy feels like an inspiration is very important in self-realization because if you can notice that difference,
Feel that difference energetically speaking,
Then going with thought is not actually going to serve you in terms of that realization.
It's just going to lead to deeper and deeper beliefs and identification.
And it's the combination of those two,
Belief,
Identification and attachment into the story that all I am is this body mind that creates the suffering.
And yet there's an oft used phrase in human language,
Which is actually a complete misunderstanding of what peace is.
And we talk about,
And in fact you'll even see it on advertising for products on the TV and so forth,
You know,
For peace of mind,
For peace of mind by this insurance or this product or whatever.
But the truth of the matter is that peace is not of the mind.
Intersection with mind is only going to lead to suffering,
Attachment to mind,
Belief in this idea of mind is only going to lead to suffering.
Peace it turns out,
As I've shared on many a stream now,
Is actually a perfume of infinite silence or infinite awareness.
And it can be a felt sense in the body and that felt sense is the perfume arising naturally,
Just like the perfume of a flower arising from that infinite awareness or that infinite silence.
And when that's there and present and felt,
What you'll typically see and experience is that actually what we call mind,
The thought stream,
Is very quiet,
Much quieter than usual.
In fact,
And in fact if one's rested in and has awareness,
What we're calling mind and the thought stream can be completely and utterly still.
And meditation isn't actually about trying to fight the mind or even stop thoughts.
It's about recognizing the awareness that is untouched,
Unmoved and unblemished and the reacquaintance with that inwardly,
And inward is not a direction I'm talking about from within the inner infinite dimensions.
And the resting in that state of awareness actually naturally leads to what will be experienced as a stilling of the mind.
In fact,
Thoughts can simply cease if one's rested in that space.
And yes,
They may still arise from time to time,
But they'll be seen like a wave that's arising,
Ah,
Here's a thought.
And it can be recognized just as that.
And if you don't put energy into it,
That wave will simply,
Like all vibrations and thoughts of vibrations,
Low ones,
Will simply fade to silence,
For all vibrations will fade to silence.
And so the meditative journey,
As I've talked about on the fiber optic lamp metaphor that I've used many times here,
If we're one of these points of light,
And typically we're looking outwards into the world and there's all these other body minds out there.
The reacquaintance with firstly pure being,
And then the witness to that,
The silent witness and the infinite silence,
The infinite awareness,
It is this that moves one away from identification as the body mind through to the recognition,
The realization that we are in fact infinite silence or infinite awareness.
And that,
And that recognition,
That realization is what leads to the stilling and the experience of the stilling of what we call mind,
Which is simply just,
As I've said before,
Thoughts plus belief equals mind.
And when we say to my mind,
You know,
So you might use that in conversation,
To my mind,
It's like this.
Actually that sentence,
It would be more accurately expressed as to my belief,
To my beliefs,
Like this.
And again,
This points us back to the live stream that I did earlier.
I forget what number it is,
But the replay is already on Insight Timer,
Which is called Beyond Belief.
And in that stream,
I pointed out in much greater depth than I'm going to reiterate here tonight,
That belief was in fact the central block to self-realization.
The belief that all I am is the body-mind.
It's the central and indeed only block to spiritual self-realization.
All other beliefs,
By the way,
Are subsets of that one mistaken belief,
All I am is the body-mind,
Which is a belief in separation.
Every other body-mind is separate from us.
Whereas when we look down this fiber optic and we see the universal beingness,
The state I am,
The non-personal universal state I am,
And then the witness,
Witnessing presence to that,
The infinite silence of the infinite awareness,
It's this that the realizer is realized.
And that's what we're all here for,
Is to realize that.
So when we say my mind,
Really what we're saying is my beliefs.
Thoughts plus beliefs.
Now what happens in that equation that I've given to you,
Thoughts plus belief equals mind,
What happens if you take beliefs away?
You're just left with a set of vibrations that we call thoughts.
And on their own,
They may be harmless enough,
But as soon as we add the weight of belief to them,
Suffering starts to come onto stream.
And that's all part of the conditioning and that also leads to the emotional body,
See the live stream replays transmuting fear into love,
And the emotions and block ones,
Which will be coming live as a replay shortly,
For further information on those.
All of those,
All that identification,
All of that attachment and belief in that thought energy is the cause of all the suffering.
And as I've said on many streams,
You don't need to believe a single word I say about this.
Whereas the nature of the self is realized,
All of this will become self-evident.
This self is a capital S,
Non-personal,
Infinite awareness or infinite silence.
So just to take things a little bit further,
I'm just going to give you a few insights that emerged in and around this in helping people understand this.
And the first one that I want to share is this,
Which may seem a bit strange when I first say it,
But let me unpack it for you because there may be some objections coming from the mind about it.
But when I unpack it,
It will make more sense.
The first insight that came in and made it first,
Actually this one came to my wife,
But as soon as she said that,
I thought,
Absolutely this is so.
The insight she was given was,
There's no joy in thinking.
There's no joy in thinking.
Now the objection that might come there from mind is,
Well,
What about all this stuff that you hear about positive thinking?
And I'm not dismissing that,
But the trouble with the thought space for every positive thought,
There's an equal and opposite negative thought.
And the trouble is by going with positive thought,
You also invoke the equal and opposite energy.
It's actually a function of duality consciousness and thought is a function of duality consciousness.
So whilst one might invoke positive thinking,
Actually in reality,
Because that's not your reality and actually it's coming from a lower vibrational space,
Its impact is thus limited,
Whereas awareness is infinite and unlimited.
Infinite and unlimited.
So if you really want to experience true peace,
True joy,
You will not get there from the mind.
You will not experience ever peace of mind.
When peace is experienced,
It's actually a natural perfume arising from the untouched,
The unblemished essence that is infinite silence or infinite awareness.
Not of the mind.
So this phrase,
Peace of mind,
You need to take out of your vocabulary.
That's the invitation.
It's up to you whether you choose to do that or not.
But eventually you're going to see that peace is not of the mind.
It's only of infinite awareness or infinite silence.
Only of that.
I'm going to look at the comments again in a minute,
But I just want to pick out a few more things first.
And then another insight that I want to share with you.
I came in meditation quite a few years ago now,
Just meditating in and out of the silence.
And the words that insight that emerged there,
The inspiration that emerged there might be also quite surprising when I first say it.
And it was this,
The words that came were,
I have nothing to think about.
I have nothing to think about.
And instantly realized what was being pointed out here was that the I here was not the personal I that we so often think and believe we are.
It was the infinite I,
The infinite silence,
The infinite awareness that we truly are.
I have nothing to think about.
And that infinite awareness is in fact no thing.
Nothing,
No thing.
And by virtue of it being no thing,
It is in fact infinite and unlimited.
Things by their very nature and thoughts are things are limited.
So the infinite awareness has nothing to think about.
It only naturally,
A perfume of grace,
Peace,
Love,
Joy arises from it.
And thoughts are very,
Very deep contractions of that into very,
Very low vibrational energy.
Whereas inspirations,
These insights come straight from that space and are expressed in the human form in a packet of information that energetically,
Spiritually speaking feels much more uplifting,
Inviting and expansive.
So again,
This is another pointing to peace not being of the mind.
It being only of awareness.
So let me just check back here now just a couple of comments just to see if there's anything I need to respond to.
What's Alan saying?
I wanted to mention something about that today.
I've noticed that this in this deep peaceful void I've been experiencing,
I cannot find this love scent.
It seems peaceful but somewhat neutral.
Maybe that has to do with the emotional turmoil I'm going through.
Okay,
So the infinite silence itself,
The void that you're referring to,
The infinite awareness,
That in itself,
Alan,
The first part of what you're saying there is in fact accurate.
It has no qualities.
A neutral would be a useful word for it.
Energy neutral in fact before the concept of positive,
Negative or whatever and even neutrality.
It has no qualities at all.
Yet somehow this energy expresses itself in the infinite I am-ness,
The pure being-ness and then from that form arising.
Now it's only through that expression that the perfume arises but the infinite silence itself,
The infinite awareness doesn't have any qualities.
So this first part is accurate.
The love scent or the joy of a peace,
The perfumes I'm talking about are felt experiences of the awareness resting in and as that but because their phenomena,
Peace is a phenomena,
Love is a phenomena,
Joy is a phenomena,
Grace is a phenomena,
Gratitude is a phenomena and can be seen in front of awareness on the green screen.
Then it indicates that there's a higher presence,
A higher awareness that's seeing them so they are arising from but the infinite awareness itself,
The infinite silence is free of qualities.
So don't try to find that phenomena Alan,
Just simply rest in and as this qualityless space and naturally within the body experience that perfume,
That scent will arise and yes it can be blocked by the emotional trauma that you've been experiencing but if one is resting in and as that,
Even that will have started to settle down and you may actually experience moments of peace,
Joy,
Stillness,
Grace,
Gratitude that are not arising from an event but are actually just the natural perfumes of resting in and as that.
It's a moving away from identification with what's going on up here to a recognition and realisation of that essence.
So hopefully that clarifies it for you Alan.
You then go on to say I like it's the very space where every sensation arises but has no quality.
Yes,
Alan says there's pleasure in thought but not joy.
Wonderful,
Good.
So I'm glad that you're seeing that and Blossom sees that as well.
Ren says very true,
Pity there's no button to switch off thinking process.
Well it would be true to say there isn't a button but what would also be true to say is that actually you are in fact already the awareness and so resting in and as that will actually have the natural consequence of stilling what's going on up in our heads.
If one just simply sits here,
Rests as that,
Stillness is here and this is what the self-realisation journey and realisation is all about.
Coming to the recognition of the space that is before the infinite space,
The infinite essence that is before and beyond mind,
Before the concept of mind,
Before all concepts,
Before belief,
Before belief in separation,
Just simply infinite silence,
Infinite awareness and this and this alone is the source of peace,
Source of love,
Source of joy,
Source of grace,
Source of gratitude,
Source of everything and to which everything will return and again just to emphasise it's not about believing what I say,
It's about realising and then it will be obvious and you'll see that belief is not necessary.
I sometimes like to put it this way just to make it light a bit but also draw out an important pointing.
I like to say truth is unbelievable.
Truth is unbelievable.
What I mean by that is that it doesn't require the energy of belief.
It's simply a realisation.
Simply a realisation.
Truth is unbelievable.
Belief is something that's outside of your experience that you have to believe in whereas truth is a realisation and in fact it will be seen that you non-personally are already this infinite awareness or infinite silence.
No belief necessary.
So that's why I always say belief is the one and only central block to self-realisation.
Every other belief is simply a subset of the belief in separation which is the same as the belief I am this body-mind.
The belief that I even fact I have a mind.
I said on the last stream I think it was when in response to some questions Alan was asking for this,
Like that song in the 80s,
You must be out of your brilliant mind.
You must be out of your brilliant mind.
I don't mean mad.
I mean beyond.
I mean before the concept of that which you believe that you have is mind.
And then you'll just simply see that for what it is.
And by the way the cognitive functions will still be there and in fact will be wholly more effective by not being cluttered by identifying with a thought stream all the time.
You'll find that taking in information,
Seeing things as they are,
Truly as they are,
Rather than as you believe them to be,
Things will become wholly clearer in every aspect of life.
In every aspect of life.
That's Philip saying,
But who is realising that there is no self when there is nothing?
It's not as I explained at length on this same question on the previous stream Philip.
There is no small s self in self realisation.
It's simply the identification with the body mind has dropped,
The belief and attachment to it has dropped and all that remains is awareness,
Infinite silence,
Infinite awareness and the recognition that,
Oh yeah,
One is that,
Not I am that.
If it was to use the word I,
It would be infinite I am that.
There's no small s self in this realisation,
But that doesn't mean that we as expressions of that are not here.
The ego as I've explained on previous streams is like a kind of link between the absolute,
The infinite and the finite domains and that is a necessary link.
It's a necessary link.
The problem isn't the ego in itself.
The problem is in the identification with the link,
The story that gets overlaid upon it,
The belief in the separation and the belief in the thoughts that arise from that.
So this,
Although the insight,
The wisdom,
If you like,
If you want to use that word that's being shared,
It might look like it's coming from this guy who also happens to be called Philip,
But it's not mine.
It is of the universe itself.
It is of the infinite silence.
It is of the infinite awareness.
It is not personal.
And the reason that people resonate with the insights and they have aha moments,
Moments of clarity,
Moments of seeing is not because Philip,
This person here has told you something that you don't already know.
It's simply that arose freely and effortlessly from this awareness and because that same awareness is embodied in your body and there's an openness to it,
It is recognised as,
Oh yeah,
This is correct.
I knew this,
But the I that knew is the infinite awareness.
I not the personal I.
So you may think it's a personal aha moment,
But it is in fact a realisation.
It's in fact a realisation of something that was already known,
Not personally,
But by awareness,
For you are in fact already that awareness.
Make sense?
So I can see that Grace Light has donated.
Thank you very much,
Grace,
For that.
That's much appreciated.
All the donations help both myself and InsightTama share this message.
So I'm just going to check in with a couple of the other comments,
See what Alan is saying.
But how come awareness didn't recognise itself?
The space doesn't neither recognise nor not recognise it just is incorrect.
Correct.
I can't possibly imagine that this space recognises itself because that recognition would be a sensation in this space,
Not the space itself.
The trouble is,
And I talked about this last time,
Alan,
Is that we're trying to convey in words that which is beyond words.
And so we run into a limitation at this point.
And try to articulate something that is not actually possible to articulate.
Does that infinite field of awareness always,
Always,
For eternity,
Knows it is that.
The expression through the human form into this domain creates the possibility,
Because it is unlimited in its capacity,
Let me put it this way,
To come to know itself in its own experience.
To come to know itself in its own experience.
But really we can't put this into words as this emerges,
As this is recognised.
It just becomes unequivocally clear that one is that,
But it's not one personally is that.
We're always trying to personalise things and this is always the cause of suffering and the problems.
So Grace Light is saying,
Is it more like an experience?
There is a pointing that I can offer here,
Grace Light,
That goes like this.
Truth is an experience,
Not a belief.
Truth is an experience,
Not a belief.
And sometimes,
I'll put it this way,
Truth is a realisation,
Not a belief.
Truth is a realisation,
Not a belief.
Now the question is,
When we say truth is an experience,
Not a belief,
Who is the experiencer?
And it's not a personal experiencer.
One is the experience and the experiencer and the observer all wrapped into one.
And it's not personal.
You see,
Infinite silence,
Which is the words that emerged in this form as the realisation of thought,
Is infinite and that means infinite in every possible,
Infinitely conceivable and inconceivable way.
It's an experience for the self,
By the self,
As the self.
And this self is the infinite silence.
So it's for the self as infinite silence,
By the self as infinite silence,
As the self as infinite silence.
Pure awareness,
Infinite awareness.
This doesn't exclude,
By the way,
The human experience.
This is a very necessary part of the process because what this creates is the incredible opportunity for this to come to know itself in its own experience.
Because as Alan was asking in the questions earlier,
And I was pointing out that there are no qualities in this domain.
For there to be phenomena,
Qualities,
There has to be space,
Time,
Form,
Being,
Contrast.
Space,
Time,
Form,
Being,
Contrast.
In and as the infinite silence,
None of those are present.
Not space,
Not form,
Not time,
Not contrast.
None of that is present.
So this creates that and thus creates the opportunity to come to know itself in its own experience.
But again,
We're trying to use words to describe ultimately that which is beyond words.
So I hope this is all making sense,
Folks.
Coming back to our title here,
Whose mind is it anyway?
Well,
You may think and believe it's yours.
But if I said to you,
For the purposes of spiritual self-realization,
You don't have a mind,
Then this would be a useful pointing.
You must be out of what you believe to be your mind.
You must be out of your brilliant mind.
The cognitive functions,
The cognitive functions will still remain.
And in fact,
Your whole functioning in this expression will become wholly more peaceful,
Effective and harmonious with life.
Because it will be seen that this body is simply an expression.
It's like a car.
You have a car,
But you're not your car.
And then you can use and benefit from the experience of this vehicle in life.
And that infinite awareness has a unique expression that is seeking to come through in an unadulterated way in your form.
And that will be unique to the expression in your form.
And insight here is this from the silence.
Variety is my cause.
Variety is my cause.
It seeks infinite expression.
Or it chooses perhaps,
Would be more accurate,
Infinite expression,
Infinite variety.
And this way,
The universe gets to experience and express itself.
Hopefully that makes some kind of sense.
Let me just have a look at this comment from Philip.
Thank you infinite silence.
Already know,
But he's just distracted by the belief I'm a person.
When that falls away,
The realization is there again.
Indeed,
That is correct.
You see,
In those three words I gave you,
Belief,
Identification and attachment,
Which come as a package.
The key one there,
If belief dissolves,
The identification and attachment drop also.
And the only way that belief is going to dissolve is through the power of that infinite awareness,
The infinite silence.
That and only that has the capacity to create the experience of that dissolution.
So I trust all this is making sense to everybody.
What I'd like to do is a little exercise now just to kind of reinforce some of this using my much used Who Am I meditation to make it a bit more real for you.
So if you're good to go with that,
Let's just,
I'll introduce it and just close your eyes.
It's helpful to do it with your eyes closed.
And first,
Just simply notice the phenomena here now.
Maybe there's breath,
Maybe there's physical sensations,
Maybe there's emotions,
Maybe there's feelings,
Maybe there's thoughts.
All of these simply,
Silently,
Accepting they are there without any judgment.
Now these phenomena,
It can be recognized that ever-changing emotions,
They come,
They go,
Sensations,
They come,
They go.
Same is true with all phenomena.
They're like waves.
They rise.
And if we don't attach ourselves to them,
Believe in them,
Identify with them,
They simply pass like clouds.
What is it then that sees,
Witnesses these phenomena,
The changes over time?
And given that the phenomena are always changing,
Can you be thoughts?
Can you be emotions?
Can you be feelings?
Or is it more accurate to say one simply is the witness to them?
Is that not more accurate?
And this witness that sees the phenomena,
Is this affected by the phenomena?
Or does it just simply watch,
Witness?
Notice.
And if it's simply witnessing,
Is it not untouched,
Unblemished,
Unmoved by the phenomena?
Which feels more resonant?
Are you the witness?
Are you the phenomena,
The appearance?
And now,
Just remaining with this,
Asking the question inside,
Who am I?
Who am I?
If something comes,
Good.
If nothing comes,
Also good.
Now let's take it further.
Who am I without belief?
Who am I without belief?
Just rest with that.
If something comes,
That's great.
If nothing comes,
Also great.
And now,
Asking inside,
Who am I without mind?
Who am I without mind?
Just be with that.
If something comes,
Good.
If nothing comes,
Also good.
Good.
So if you haven't already done so,
You can open your eyes.
If anybody wants to share anything that arose from that with them,
We can have a look at that for a few minutes.
And now,
We'll open up to questions.
I see no qualities within my witness which would distinguish it from anyone else's.
Are we all in some way one single consciousness?
Indeed,
The witness is in fact not personal.
The ultimate witness,
That is.
The infinite awareness,
The infinite witness,
The infinite silence is not personal.
And that's what it means to say in spiritual circles and has been said for millennia,
We are one.
We are all collectively that.
Yet,
Using one of the other metaphors I've shared a few times,
It's a bit like this infinite awareness,
This infinite silence is expressed in infinite variety like facets of a diamond.
And you get to experience the beauty of a diamond by the light glinting off the facets.
But the facets are intrinsically and intimately connected with the whole diamond.
And in fact are one with it and the luminosity of the diamond comes from within.
If you believe you're the facets,
You will suffer,
In this case the body-mind.
One is the awareness.
The suffering can dissolve.
So good question there Gregory.
And I've just thanked you Blossom,
You've mentioned it a couple of times now and it's useful reminders to me.
There is a group supporting these self-realisation streams and it's called Nothing Special.
Stefan has put the observer in response to the questions which was who am I?
And then without belief it was,
I'm guessing it was that one was the infinite one.
And the second one without mind,
Free and limitless.
And all of these are good seeings.
This who am I meditation as I've shared on many training streams is very simple and have used it in quite a lot of different ways now across probably 14 or 15 streams.
And it's a great way for bringing you back to awareness.
The one I would particularly recommend as you're going about your day is who am I without memory?
Who am I without memory?
And if you've used that enough,
Regularly enough,
You'll be able to just go to who am I without the word memory.
And then even just the word who,
And then simply recognising awareness is always here.
So this is a very simple meditation that you can do anytime,
Any place,
Anywhere.
Use this one to help snap you back to awareness.
Good so Ren is saying I am at peace with no mind and free without beliefs indeed.
And what will be seen is that in fact you are the very source of peace.
And you are that which is freedom itself.
You are in fact freedom itself.
Just seeing your donation come through Blossom,
Thank you very much.
That's much appreciated.
As I said before,
The donations help both Insight Timer and myself.
So thank you very much.
Ruth is saying resistance came up on without mind question.
Not huge,
But a definite uncomfortable feeling.
So some attachment there exactly Ruth.
And notice also Ruth that the resistance was a phenomena that appeared on the green screen.
It appeared in front of awareness.
And if it appeared in front of was observed by awareness,
Then you can't be the resistance.
The resistance is simply a function of the identity seeking to hold on to belief in itself.
It's on a journey of self preservation,
Small s self preservation.
So as that resistance appears,
It is simply watched,
Not judged,
Just watched,
Recognizing that it's a phenomena and appearance that you're not that.
And in the knowing that you are the infinite silence,
The infinite awareness,
It will simply and effortlessly dissolve.
And to explore that further folks,
The live stream replay transmuting fear into love and I forgot what number that one is,
But it's available.
That one explains that process more fully.
And in fact,
In the group,
Nothing special,
Something to mention about the group.
There's now a couple of playlists that I've created thanks to questions from Blossom and Ruth,
I think it was,
Who knew a bit more about insight timer than I did.
There's a playlist of all of the live stream replays.
Also,
Something I'm going to come on to at the moment,
The varying lengths of the infinite silence meditation,
Which we'll have a go at in a little while.
Alan is saying,
Ruth,
I'm the ego freaking out club two sometimes.
Yeah,
It does that.
You see that that's the thing that the identity fears the most folks is its demise.
The thing that the identity fears the most is its demise.
And so it's inevitably going to freak out.
But just see that freaking out as part of the process and witness it and it will dissolve.
And Joyce saying,
Yes,
I just feel that resistance there just observing.
Good Joyce.
So the fact that it's now been spotted and it's in front of awareness,
This is a good thing.
It's not meant to be a challenge.
It's simply now been seen.
And by trusting the awareness and only the awareness,
The power of that and the power of that alone will deal with the resistance.
And it may energetically in the body feel quite intense,
But just trust that process and it just is it will simply and effortlessly dissolve because we're not pumping energy into the belief that there's resistance there.
I'm just going to scroll back up just to make sure I'm with any key comments.
Grace like so much fun.
I just found you today.
I'm not glad you found a great slide and thank you for joining us.
Thank you for the donation there,
Ruth.
And if you want to understand how your heart is talking to you,
Watch the live stream replay Trust the Heart.
I think that's now live on my profile.
Trust the heart.
It helps distinguish what is coming from the space of awareness,
The space of the heart,
Space of silence and that which is coming from that which you believe to be the mind.
Linda said,
I noticed that as I listened to the meditations that awareness has been starting to open up.
It has really been helpful and appreciated.
I'm delighted to hear that Linda.
Really because that is the whole purpose of the meditation.
OK,
What else?
Is there any other I am listening to trust the heart now says blossom had aha moments good.
And as I've said before,
The reason the aha moments happen is because the knowing is already there and they arise because there's an openness,
A rightness within you to say,
Oh,
Yeah,
This was already known.
This was already known.
Let's finish with let's just have 10 minutes of meditation.
So if you want to just.
Close your eyes.
And just once again.
Simply noticing.
The phenomena here.
The breath.
Feelings.
Emotions.
Just simply.
Silently.
Accepting.
That was.
Without any.
Judgment.
And now.
Just be open.
From your heart.
To the experience.
Of the spheres.
Nothing to visualize.
Nothing to do.
Just be open.
People refer to this as spheres of light.
Pure universal state.
I.
Am.
The infinite.
I.
Am.
I'm simply recognizing now that even this beingness,
This I am-ness is witnessed.
Just like all phenomena.
And this must be from a deeper awareness.
That I call the silent.
Witness.
Resting here.
How's this?
And even this silent witness.
Is like a sliver of ice.
In the ocean or water.
And it's melting.
Dissolving.
Becoming one.
Merging with the ocean of infinite silence.
Effortlessly.
Silently.
In silence.
We trust.
In silence.
You will realize.
Your truth.
In truth.
You will realize.
You are silence.
Infinite silence.
This rarefied atmosphere.
Of silence.
Transforms.
Transmutes.
Dissolves.
All that you are not.
Effortlessly.
Silently.
Be still.
And know.
This.
Infinite.
Silence.
Eternity.
Ever present.
Presence.
Always here.
Now.
Just this.
Untouched.
Unblemished.
Unmoved.
Infinite silence.
Eternal essence.
Know.
This awareness,
This silence,
Is ever present.
Never goes anywhere.
Always here now.
And you,
None personally,
Are it.
In a moment I'll ring the ting sha bells.
Three times.
And as the sound of the bells gently fades to silence.
Continue to rest in,
Through,
And as this infinite silence.
Infinite awareness.
Aware of the body.
All of the appearances.
Aware of the space.
Aware of the chair.
Or whatever you may be lay on.
And if you haven't already done so.
Just gently opening your eyes.
Namaste.
Good.
Good.
Namaste.
Good morning,
Good afternoon,
Good evening,
Wherever you are in the world.
May peace be with you.
And in fact you will realise one day it is you.
The very source of peace.
Namaste.
Namaste.
Namaste.
