This meditation invites you to familiarise yourself with death as a part of life and to make peace with the idea of letting go. In a loving connection, you can send inner strength and love to someone close to you who is close to death. In doing so, you not only strengthen your bond with this person but also your own acceptance of transience. Meditation helps you to cultivate an attitude of compassion and inner peace while consciously recognizing the cycle of life. Welcome to this special meditation.

My name is Irene and today I will take you on a journey that invites you to befriend death,

A reality that is part of life.

Perhaps there is a person in your life who is close to you but who is already close to death or perhaps you would like to familiarize yourself with the idea that letting go and peace are connected.

Start by finding a quiet,

Undisturbed place.

Sit or lie down comfortably so that you feel at ease.

Close your eyes and focus your attention on your breath.

Feel the air gently flowing in and out of your body.

Let each breath become a little longer and deeper so that you relax step by step.

Start by feeling your body.

Notice how your body touches the floor or the chair or your bed.

Then move your attention through your body from your feet all the way up to your head and invite each area of your body to relax.

With each exhalation let go of a little tension and feel how your body becomes calmer and heavier and allow yourself to be completely in the here and now for this moment.

Now bring the thought of transience into your consciousness.

Remind yourself that all life is part of a great cycle,

From creation to decay.

It is not always easy to accept this but it is part of the deepest core of life.

Also allow yourself to recognize the sadness or fear that may arise within you without pushing it away.

Let it be there,

Like clouds in the sky that come and go.

Now invite into your consciousness the person who is close to you and who may already be saying goodbye to life.

Visualize this person,

Perhaps as an image or a feeling or a thought.

Feel the connection between you,

The love and gratitude that unites you.

Feel how this love rises in your heart.

With every breath let the love in your heart grow stronger.

Imagine how this love flows out of your heart in the form of light,

Of warmth or of a wave.

Send it to this person.

Perhaps you might say something inside like I send you my love or thank you for everything you've given me or it's okay to let go.

Trust that your messages will reach the person regardless of whether you can see each other or not.

Now bring the thought into your consciousness that it is okay to let go.

Death is not an end but a transition,

Part of the great cycle.

If it feels right for you,

You can say inside I let go of you in love or I wish you peace or I accept that you are going your own way.

Feel peace arising and let it envelope you in this very moment.

Remind yourself that you too are part of this cycle of living,

Of becoming and eventually of going.

Feel the power in your breath that connects you to life.

Let the love that you have sent out flow back into you.

Feel how it envelops and strengthens you.

When you are ready,

Say goodbye inwardly to the person you visited in your meditation.

Tell them I am with you in love and thought.

Feel how your heart remains calm and open while the image,

The feeling or the thought of that person is slowly fading away.

You come back to the present moment.

You bring your attention back to the room you are in.

Notice the contact with your body,

Feel the floor,

The chair,

The bed beneath you.

Now breathe in and out deeply a few more times.

Your breath brings you back to the here and now.

So when you are ready,

Slowly open your eyes and take a moment to honor this transition before you return to your everyday life.

Thank you for taking the time to do this meditation.

May it give you peace and clarity.

Thank you for this beautiful meditation. Much needed. A very dear cousin is near his transition and this meditation helped me in sending blessings and love his way and respecting and understanding this is part of his life path. I know all is well and we will never part nor his loved ones.

I have a fear of death. Listening to your meditation lessened the grip on me. I will return for more. It was very peaceful for me and there were tears. I sent love to my 88 year old brother in law far away. It felt so good and I just know he felt it. Thank you. 💜
