Hello beautiful souls,

This is June Bee and welcome to a Power Nap.

Thanks for being here for another in the series of Power Naps with June Bee.

Today we only have limited time,

30 minutes to be precise.

So,

Let's begin.

Get into your best relaxing position,

Making sure you are comfortable.

Close your eyes,

Relax your muscles and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.

Now let's go to your breathing,

Slowing down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe out.

Last time,

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Settle in now,

Get comfortable.

Let go of everything that happened today and let's relax together.

Let yourself focus on my voice.

If your mind wanders it's okay,

Bring it back to the sound of my voice.

Keep your breathing slow and steady.

Let's gently drift off for this nourishing 30 minute nap.

So what are the characteristics and benefits of a 30 minute nap?

The 30 minute nap.

This nap duration can provide a balance between light and deep sleep.

It allows some time for your body to enter the early stages of deeper sleep which may improve memory and creativity.

Research from the University of Singapore discovered that 30 minutes of shut-eye in the middle of the day could leave you feeling better for as long as 4 hours afterwards.

Strong scientific evidence shows that our brains benefit from a brief period of actual sleep,

A nap.

Not only a quiet period,

To recover from fatigue and to help restore alertness.

Remember,

Set an alarm.

Today,

I am your alarm though.

Before dozing off for nap time,

Set an alarm for the desired nap length which today could be around 30 minutes.

When the alarm goes off,

Resist the urge to hit the snooze button.

If you press snooze to keep sleeping,

This can cause you entering deeper sleep.

Setting a second alarm is a great addition and set it to go off shortly after the first one.

This may help to avoid napping for too long.

Try to get up as soon as the alarm sounds or when we finish this nap.

And then stretch or walk around to shake off any post-nap sleepiness.

What better reason to take a 30 minute nap and feel refreshed when we wake up.

Let's talk about another stage of sleep.

Stage 2.

Non-REM sleep.

By the way,

REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement.

During stage 2 non-REM sleep,

Your heart rate and breathing slow even more as you shift into a slightly deeper state of sleep.

This stage is all about preparing for the deep sleep and REM sleep to come.

During stage 2 sleep,

You become less aware of your surroundings.

Your body temperature drops.

Your eye movements stop.

Your breathing and heart rate become more regular.

So are you drifting off now,

Listening to my voice?

Can you feel yourself floating into a nourishing bath of joy,

Peace,

Comfort,

Bliss?

Let go now and I'll be back after you have replenished yourself.

Welcome back.

Our 30 minute power nap is over.

As you open your eyes and gently come back to the room,

Let's give thanks for this time together.

Have yourself a great day and looking forward to seeing you again soon.

For another in the series of power naps with June B.

Goodbye.
