Okay,
Welcome.
In a moment I will lead us through a brief reflection and meditation.
Just as a reminder,
Most of the Wonder Method meditations aim to elicit more awareness of the mind's mysteries and fluctuations.
With consistent practice,
You might foster a new relationship with the mind itself as it is,
Which is wondrous.
Today's practice asks you to consider your mind to be like a vast aquarium.
Like a large aquarium,
Sort of like the one you might see at a zoo from floor to ceiling.
Part of the practice here is to observe any sensations arising and any thoughts or thought patterns as if they are fish or other aquarium creatures floating by.
I'm not asking you to literally imagine an aquarium and fish unless that works for you.
The idea is not to fixate your attention on any thought or sensation,
No matter how interesting or surprising.
And another note is that your human mind gifts you with the perspective of an amused observer.
It's an awareness of awareness.
An awareness of awareness at the mind's mysteries that simply watches the mind's fish float by,
So to speak.
Okay,
Let's experiment together.
Close your eyes and assume a posture of dignity and ease.
Attempt to arrive here almost instantly.
This is your time to be present to this mind.
And become aware of the sensations of sitting and sensations on the skin and within the body.
Scan these visible sensations with exquisite attention and care.
Become aware of the sensations of sounds outside the body,
Including the sound of my voice.
You may notice that with such attentiveness,
You experience a sense of openness from the inside out.
Become aware of the visual plane behind the eyelids and give these sensations exquisite attention as well.
And draw awareness to any sensations of an inner narration,
Any inner thoughts.
All of these sensations are rising in the container of consciousness.
So imagine the mind as a vast aquarium where all of these sensations arise and float by like fish or other aquatic creatures of different sizes and shapes.
Let your attention assume the position of an amused observer,
An amused observer who might recognize familiar patterns,
Who might be surprised by new ones,
But regardless allows them all to float by without attachment.
If you notice such a fishy thought ensnaring your attention and your attention is running away from that amused observer,
Then observe that fact.
Let the thought float by in this open mind.
Bring attention back to the anchoring breath and come back to the openness of the mind where any thoughts and sensations can float past or vanish.
In the last minute,
Simply release trying to do anything with your attention other than to be aware of sensations as they arise and float by.
Okay,
You can keep your eyes closed for the next segment if you wish,
Which is aimed to connect you with your young genius character strengths,
Your sense of devotion today,
And your curiosity for a day of questing.
So first foster a sense of safety within your body and imaginative memory to explore.
And let your imaginative memory take you back to a time when you were young and you felt free and alive to be your most unique self,
Your most unique expression in this life without regard for recognition or reward.
Maybe you're seven or eight years old,
Nine or ten or older.
Notice what you're seeing or hearing,
Sensing.
Maybe you're outdoors or inside.
Maybe you're in a sanctuary of your own making or out on a playing field somewhere.
Observe what you're uniquely doing and how you're uniquely doing it.
If you're speaking,
Notice how you speak uniquely,
As if a force of character speaks through you.
And with appreciation,
Compassion,
And admiration,
Observe that young genius.
What are the three adjectives that describe that young genius at play,
At work,
At their best?
You might write down those strengths and traits.
They may be the same if you've practiced this before,
Or they might change with fresh insight.
And center yourself and check in with your devotion,
Your wholehearted yes to what you're showing up for today.
Ask yourself,
What am I devoted to today?
What impactful work?
What enlivening life outside of work?
You might observe a word,
Phrase,
Or simple statement that completes the sentence,
Today I am devoted to blank.
And then ask yourself,
What am I curious about today?
Is there a question that's percolating that I want to live out and pursue today?
Is there a new piece of knowledge or a new skill I want to learn?
Am I curious about someone else or a certain situation or a trend?
Just respond in your notebook to this sentence,
Today I'm curious about blank.
Okay,
Now you have the foundations for a day of Tracking Wonder.
I encourage you to spend time each morning this week replaying this recording and responding to these three key Tracking Wonder prompts and see what happens.
Life is an experiment.
It's an honor to practice with you,
And I'll see you soon.
Thanks for running with me.
