Easily the favourite meditation for my clients. This simple but deep meditation uses three principles to guide you through finding stability, acceptance and clarity. There is a space at the end for you to connect with the principles independently, and to just relax into enjoying the sensations.

There's three principles to this meditation.

Body like the mountain,

Breath like wind,

And mind like sky.

And we'll connect with each of the principles individually.

And then at the end,

I'm just going to be quiet for a little while to allow you to connect with each principle.

And you're on terms.

But if I begin by explaining,

If you just allow yourself to settle into the space that you're in right now,

Whether it's the chair,

Or the floor,

Or even bed.

Just relinquish the need to hold the body.

Allow whatever it is underneath you to hold the body instead,

To support you fully.

Let go of holding the muscles.

Let go of the muscles holding tension.

Let go of the situations that the tension is holding on to.

Just let go.

And allow yourself to be supported,

Just for these few minutes,

By the earth beneath you.

Body like the mountain.

And if we think of the mountain,

We notice that it's hard to say where the earth ends and the mountain begins.

Hard to say when one becomes the other.

And so as you relinquish the need to control or hold the body in any way,

Just allow the edges to become less defined.

Just allow the edges where the earth or the chair or whatever it is that's holding you up right now.

Where that ends and you begin,

Just allow them to merge.

So that like the mountain,

You are on the earth and you are of the earth.

And the mountain sits and is consistent and steady in the face of all things.

Whether that's weather passing by,

Which might be stormy or cloudy,

Or bright and sunny or freezing and cold.

The mountain just is.

And so when our body is like the mountain,

There is an invitation for us to notice the consistency of the body,

Its stability,

Its steadiness.

And how the situations we find ourselves in are just like the weather.

Temporary and passing through.

Some more pleasant than others.

But just passing by.

When our body is like the mountain,

We know this.

We are steady and stable.

And consistent in the face of all weathers.

Whether that's external circumstances or internal experiences.

All are temporary.

All will pass.

Body like the mountain.

Steady and stable.

Consistent in the face of all situations.

Temporary as they are.

Our next principle is breath like wind.

And much like the wind,

Our breath might be fast or slow.

It might be high or low,

It might be warm or cold.

And we don't ask it to be or do anything different.

We accept the wind lovingly.

Exactly as it is.

Without question.

Sometimes we might utilize it and set it to work.

Other times we might just watch it pass by.

Or hear it as it makes its way through the trees.

But we do not change the wind.

We accept it as it is.

And so in this meditation I invite you to do the same thing with your breath.

Notice it.

But don't change it.

Offer it that same loving acceptance.

And in doing so allow yourself to offer a loving acceptance to everything your breath connects with.

As it moves its way into the bronchia in the lungs.

And they take the breath.

Take the oxygen from the breath and pass it through the body.

Via the blood stream.

Ascend in with the breath.

To all things it touches.

That same loving acceptance.

Body like the mountain.

Stable and solid.

On the earth and off the earth.

And steady in the face of all situations that pass by.

Breath like wind.

Lovingly accepted.

Exactly as it is in this moment.

Without question.

And offering that same loving acceptance to everything that the breath connects to.

And our final principle in this meditation is mind like sky.

And we might just bring our attention to the crown of the head.

And as we do so just perhaps visualize the crown of the head opening up.

And allowing your consciousness to pour out.

Like a net being cast across the sky.

Moving as far as it can in one direction.

Before stretching out as far as it can in the next direction.

Until our attention,

Our consciousness is spread and cast right across the entirety of the sky.

And the sky is blue.

We know this.

Even on the days when we can't see the blue.

We don't question,

We know the sky is blue.

Even when it's obstructed by all the clouds.

But when our mind is like sky.

We are the observer.

We are the mind that sits behind the clouds.

And even when the mind is filled with thoughts.

Like sometimes the sky is filled with clouds.

We know that the mind is still clear.

Even if it's just temporarily obstructed.

My invitation to you is to step behind all of the noise of the thoughts.

Like that clear blue sky.

Which we know is there.

Even if we can't see it.

Body like the mountain.

Stable,

Solid.

Connected with the earth.

And enduring in the face of all weathers.

Which are simply temporary.

Breath like wind.

Lovingly accepted.

For everything it is in this moment.

Without the need for it to do or be anything different.

With this same loving acceptance offered.

As we inhale.

Mind like sky.

The clarity behind the clouds.

Blue.

Which we know is there.

Even if we can't see it.

The mind which we know is there even when it's filled with thoughts.

Which obstruct it.

We know it is there.

We are simply the observer of the thoughts.

Not the thoughts themselves.

So as we settle in now.

I'm going to give you a moment or two of silence.

And if you catch yourself becoming distracted by clouds.

Becoming invested in thoughts that are distracting.

And notice that.

Just let them go.

And return to the three principles of today's meditation.

Body like a mountain.

Breath like wind.

So we're just going to come out of the meditation now.

Begin by becoming aware of the separation between the body and whatever it is.

That's supporting your body right now.

You might just want to fold our consciousness or awareness back in through the crown of the head.

We're just going to take a nice deep and deliberate breath.

All the way in.

As you just ease yourself gently and easily.

Back into the room.
