Meditation is a way to deal with stress and negative feelings.
That is important,
But shouldn't we focus more on removing those stressors and negative influences from our lives?
Yes.
It's the same thing as trying to treat the current illness,
But at the same time doing everything you can to prevent future illnesses.
Spiritual practice is all about getting rid of or treating the current suffering,
At the same time inoculating yourself against future sufferings.
The reason we meditate currently is to remove the trauma and suffering The reason we meditate currently,
It has the effect of treating the current suffering or traumas that we currently have.
And the reason we are actually enhancing our meditation And the reason we are actually enhancing our mindfulness is to prevent future frustrations,
Anger,
Sadness,
Grief,
All those from causing suffering to us.
And I want you to really look deep inside yourself and analyze the causes of your suffering.
The first is desire.
The desire to do something or to not do something when you are attached to those desires,
That causes suffering.
The second are emotions.
The feelings of goods or not goods,
Hatred,
Love,
Or joy,
Or despair,
All those if you are attached,
Obsessed over those feelings,
That causes suffering.
The third cause is your judgment of something is right or something is wrong.
When you judge something,
That causes at least the suffering.
So if we are not too attached or allow ourselves to be attached to desire or to these emotions or to judgments,
Then we get rid of the causes for our suffering.
And if suffering does happen,
It means that you are attaching yourself to one of these three causes.
Therefore,
If you are constantly mindful to your own desires or emotions or judgment,
Then you can maintain your equanimity.
So it's not just the focus and the silence that's important in meditation.
It's the mindfulness that allows you to look at the source of the suffering.
And realize the transcendence of everything.
Everything that happens also disappears.
And also realize that there's no substance behind what you see or what you feel.
And not try to understand this concept intellectually,
But to internalize it through actual experience.
Then suffering will disappear.
And you internalize the fact that there is nothing substantive that you can attach yourself to.
And there goes your suffering.
