Hi and welcome to In the Flow with Lorie Albert,
A podcast designed to teach us to manifest our best lives in every moment and every day.
Let's get in the flow.
Okay,
So the Gayatri Mantra.
I first learned about this mantra years ago in my studies when I was,
I started following Krishna Das.
I got really into Kirtan and having been a musician myself,
I was really into Krishna Das at that point,
Right?
And I would chant,
I'm telling you,
For me,
Chanting,
Freaking amazing,
Right?
The idea of mixing music and devotion,
It doesn't get any better for me,
Right?
I love chanting.
I haven't been chanting too much lately because my voice and stuff hasn't been so great.
But you know what?
It's so cool.
Spirit is so awesome,
Right?
Because I was like,
Okay,
I'm going to chant,
Help.
You know,
I'm asking Spirit for the help,
Right?
This morning I get up and I feel pretty good.
So if I have a little funky notes,
Please forgive me.
But oh my gosh,
My voice feels pretty good.
So anyway,
Bottom line is Krishna Das taught me an understanding that everything is about love.
It all comes back to love.
Love is everything.
It all comes back to love,
Universal love.
I'm not talking about just like,
You know,
Relationship love.
It's like love,
Just being love,
Right?
So in learning all of these Hindu teachings over the years,
I also started following Deva Pramal and Mitten who talk about love.
Oh my God.
All you have to do is like see them and it's like this,
They are love.
I mean,
They exude love for the world.
I mean,
It's amazing.
But this was the first time I had ever heard about the Gayatri Mantra.
It's been chanted by many,
Many people.
Yeah,
You know,
Many people because it's,
Well,
I went one time to see the Amma and she was chanting the Gayatri Mantra.
Actually,
She did this whole talk about the Gayatri Mantra and about how and its significance.
It's like the mother of all of the chants,
Right?
And all of the mantras.
Okay.
So I learned this significance of it,
Right?
So for me,
It's like,
I will,
Now that I've learned it,
I'll just sit and like,
As I go throughout my day,
I mean,
As I do with some of the other ones,
You know.
But this one is amazing,
Right?
Okay.
So anyway,
So Deva Pramal and Mitten describe the Gayatri Mantra as this,
Okay?
The Gayatri,
It nourishes the soul,
Giving us strength and inspiration to go forward into our lives with a deeper sense of awareness,
More compassion,
More humor and more love.
Oh,
I love that.
And then they go on,
Our Gayatri sun will shine brightly and support us as we move through life's challenges.
This is why I chose the Gayatri Mantra for today.
We all know how easy it is to sometimes lose touch with our light of love.
And they say that the Gayatri gathering is here for all of us to replenish,
To recharge and to renew our sacred connection with the Great Spirit,
The true Buddha nature.
Isn't that amazing?
So that's what,
That's what this is,
You know,
It's about love.
And it's about recharging and reconnecting.
And I thought,
How perfect is that?
And then to find out about all of the solar flares going on right now and the sun,
You know,
There are no accidents.
Oh my gosh.
So I am like totally jazzed this morning,
As if you couldn't tell.
Right?
Um,
The Gayatri Mantra has actually been around for probably about 3000 years.
Okay,
It was in the the the Marig Veda.
Right,
Right.
The Upanishads,
The Bhagavad Gita.
It's been around a long,
Long time.
Right.
So it is a belief that if you chant in chanting the Gayatri Mantra,
It establishes the mind to carry on your life and do the work that is destined for you.
And it will create joy and happiness in your life.
How perfect,
Right?
So that's what we are going to chant today.
It's going to take a few times,
If you've never chanted this before,
It's going to take a few times to learn it.
But once you learn it,
It becomes so sing songy and so beautiful that you just it just flows.
Okay,
So I've got my Shruti box.
It's not the computer making a horrible sound.
It's my Shruti box,
Right?
Okay,
Now,
I'm going to say it out loud.
And before we start chanting.
Perfect.
All right.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
I know.
But once we start singing it,
You'll understand,
Hopefully.
Okay.
All right.
Are we ready?
Let's just you know,
And don't make this a big deal.
If you don't get the words right.
So what?
It's the intention.
That's what I learned from Krishna Das.
It's the intention of it.
Right?
I'll say it one more time.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
So,
All right,
Let's roll with this,
Right?
I don't know how long we're gonna go.
We're just gonna see where Spirit takes us.
Right?
I love it.
Okay.
Let's go.
Om.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
Om bor bhuvas vaha tat savitur vareyom.
Bhargo devas yadi mahi diyo yona prachodayat.
Om.
Namaste.
