Welcome to this meditation.
I invite you to find a comfortable posture,
Your body aligned and alert but at ease.
Closing your eyes or gazing them downward and focusing your attention on your body.
Starting with the feet,
The calves,
The knees,
The thighs,
The hips and the buttocks,
The belly,
The chest.
Taking a moment to create a deeper connection with the heart.
And then moving your attention up to your shoulders and neck,
Down your arms to your hands and then back up to your face and the sides,
Back and top of your head.
And allowing your body to settle,
To rest gently.
Letting the shoulders sink so that they're away from the ears.
Letting the belly and the buttocks relax.
Inviting any tension to release in the hands.
This meditation is about trust.
A fundamental aspect of trusting others is trusting yourself.
And that can show up in many ways in your life.
If you lack trust in yourself,
Lead to relying on others for important decisions in your life.
Procrastinating.
It may inhibit you from trying new things,
Taking risks,
Pursuing your dream.
Your sense of self-worth may be less than it should be.
Perhaps you're afraid of speaking up for yourself.
Notice how it feels in your body.
When you think about self-trust,
Do you feel tightness or tension arise?
Or in your mind,
Do certain situations come up from your memory banks where you didn't trust yourself?
And when you bring to mind a moment where you didn't trust yourself or where you trusted someone else more than yourself,
Where you followed someone else's lead and perhaps regretted doing so.
What emotions come up for you?
Perhaps what you notice instead of the emotions is a sensation in the body.
Perhaps you feel tired when you think about it.
Sad or angry.
Maybe your muscles tense up.
Sitting in meditation or prayer.
Reflecting on where you notice you lack trust of yourself in your life.
How that shows up for you day to day.
What can you do to help you build that trust in yourself?
What rituals,
Routines in your life can serve as a bedrock,
As a foundation for that trust?
Something as simple as a daily meditation practice or prayer.
One way of helping you do so.
Committing time to yourself.
Showing up for you on a consistent basis to nourish your mind,
Your body and your spirit is a wonderful foundation for creating self-trust within you.
Trusting yourself to make that commitment and following through best you can without judgment,
Without striving for perfection.
What would that be like to be there for you?
How does that feel in your body?
Perhaps you're excited about the prospect,
Happy,
Relieved.
Maybe you feel a sense of conflict,
A question about your worthiness.
And just noticing,
Not judging,
Just noticing that that's there and sitting with it.
And if helpful to you,
Talking it through.
Whether it be with a friend,
Relative,
Counselor.
Sensing into the body.
Connecting with the miracle that is you.
Checking in with the heart.
Breathing into that area of the body.
Giving it permission to expand,
To open,
To embrace you.
And as we come to the close of this meditation,
Begin to bring some movement back to your body.
And when you're ready,
Slowly,
Gently open your eyes.
