The Hanged Man,

Representing transformation and introspection,

Invites us into a state of contemplative suspension.

This card embodies the essence of sacrifice and the revelation that arises from willing abstinence and surrender.

In this active imagination exercise,

We will engage with the essence of the Hanged Man,

Confronting our attachments and discovering what must be relinquished to facilitate our personal evolution and enlightenment.

First,

Just making sure you are seated or lying down comfortably.

Close your eyes.

Just take a couple of deep breaths.

I'm just going to start this exercise with some basic meditation.

So just keep your attention on the breath for now.

If at any point you do get distracted,

Simply bring the attention back to the exercise.

And now imagine yourself in a quiet sanctuary,

A space where the complexities of your life can be observed without distraction.

Allow the appearance,

The details of the sanctuary to form naturally.

And now in this sanctuary,

Gradually you sense that gravity lessens its hold.

You experience a buoyancy,

A suspension in space,

Where you can move freely without constraints.

In this state of suspension,

You begin to see your attachments begin to materialize.

They might appear as objects,

Symbols,

Or chains.

Take a moment to observe how these attachments appear,

Noticing their various details,

Maybe even reaching out to touch them.

You're now going to engage with these attachments by asking yourself a series of questions.

Ask yourself,

Which of these objects represent commitments or identities I've outgrown?

How do these attachments influence my life and decisions?

Which am I ready to release?

And what might I discover if I do?

And now imagine yourself interacting with these objects,

Feeling their texture and weight.

Envision a process of transformation or release for each one.

This process can take any form that seems right to you.

And as you interact with each of these symbols,

Notice how they change.

Do any new symbols appear,

Representing new opportunities,

Growth,

Freedom,

And evolved understanding?

Just allow this process to unfold whichever way it needs to.

And you begin to feel gravity take hold again as you are turned right-side up and slowly reconnect with the earth beneath you,

Carrying this new perspective with you.

So just allowing the imagery to fade now,

And remember it can be a good idea to journal the exercise.

And continue to reflect on it,

Allowing insights to arise.

So just bringing your attention back to the room now,

Noticing any sounds,

Sensations,

And the space around you.

And in your own time,

Opening your eyes again.
