Have you researched endlessly about Anxious Attachment? Do you understand why you have an intense fear of abandonment in romantic relationships? Do you continue to repeat the same unhealthy patterns anyway? This is common. You may be deeply aware of why you have an Anxious Attachment style and how you’re “supposed to” change it. But in practice, you just can’t seem to shift it. Since attachment is formed in the first 2 years of life, our styles are set PRE-VERBALLY through touch, smell, posture, gestures, and other body movements. The way we remember a caregiver being aggressive may be through their accelerated advancement towards us, or the way they forcefully picked us up when we refused to listen. We do not remember WHAT they said when they made us feel unsafe. We do not know the exact words they used. We remember, non-verbally, the visual picture and bodily sensation that we experienced when they walked away while we were crying and begging for attention. Our bodies remember. This is why so many people struggle to heal their anxious attachment patterns. Because they are trying to change it with words or verbal information; but as preverbal children, we did not form our anxious attachment style in words. We formed them with our bodies. It may be helpful to talk about your anxiety in therapy, repeat affirmations for feeling secure, or journal about your thoughts. However, these cognitive-based techniques are not enough to shift anxious attachment into secure attachment. The body must adopt a new way. Neural pathways must be rewired in the non-verbal brain, so we can stay present and respond instead of react. We must learn how to literally move in ways that lead to more security (i.e., keeping eye contact and leaning in for a hug even while we have debilitating anxiety about getting hurt). Movement is where true change begins. If you truly want to heal the wounds that feed your anxious attachment patterns, then you must engage your body in a process that allows your entire physical being to feel secure in all types of relationships and interactions. In this course, you’ll be introduced to this movement-based process and start to feel some of the embodied shifts that are necessary to truly heal anxious attachment.

Lesson 1

The Difference Between Love & Attachment

In today’s lesson, we’ll identify the difference between love and attachment. When you’ve related to others with anxious attachment for your entire life, it can be very difficult to know if you truly love someone vs. need them from a fearful place. You may even notice initial shifts from anxious attachment to secure attachment, and wonder, “Is this an anxious attachment pattern, or am I desiring or longing in a healthy way?” Knowing this difference will be crucial to building healthier, secure relationships without self-sabotage.

Lesson 2

Stop Overgiving

Today, we are going to address one last pattern that is common amongst those with anxious attachment: Overgiving. We may overgive to try to keep our partners around for longer, make them "need" us, and prevent abandonment or rejection. Unfortunately, this pattern of overgiving may have the opposite desired impact and push partners away. Additionally, it can drain our energy and prevent us from having the love and relationships we truly desire. In this lesson, we'll learn how to stop overgiving, stop abandoning ourselves, and embody deeper self-love. That way, we can have deeper, more fulfilling relationships without feeling resentful, angry, and depleted.

Embody Secure Attachment

Today, we are going to take everything we learned in days 1 - 4 and embody it more deeply in one last movement meditation. By the end of today’s lesson, you may feel more confident than ever to approach your relationships in a secure and healthy way. This lesson will help you further integrate what you've learned in this course, so that you can meet your mind's intention with actual embodied intention. Whether you want to speak up more assertively, open your heart with less guardedness, or receive deeper love without self-sabotage, you can begin to make this a reality in today's lesson!

This is another great course from Orit who presents the learnings in a clear and relatable way which helps your mind to easily understand how this relates to you. Criticality she then leads your body through movement meditation to help embody and integrate the learnings so your body believes it. Absolutely amazing! The best course I’ve taken on insight. I don’t enjoy doing courses more than once but this one is an exception. So much information provided in a concise and easy to understand format. Orit provides actionable ways to connect with yourself now and in the future when anxious tendencies arise. Years of therapy and lots of $$ could have been saved if I would have heard this sooner. However I do believe that everything is presented at a time when you are ready, so who knows if this would have resonated in the same way years ago. No matter where you are in your journey this is time well spent either in understanding yourself or possibly a partner a little more. I will also use these tools in parenting as my anxious attachment spills over in my relationship with my young kids. This was truly a gift. Thank you!
