Welcome.
Today's meditation is still lake of the mind.
So please initially just draw in a few big breaths,
Letting your chest,
Your shoulders move as they need.
And then begin to watch your breath ascend up your nostrils on inhale and descend down your nostrils on exhale.
This simple observation and movement of the breath is one of the quickest and easiest ways to sharpen your awareness and to begin this inward turning.
As you watch your breath moving up and down your nostrils,
Include the space between your eyebrows.
So as you watch your breath move up the nostrils,
See it move all the way up to that third eye space between your eyebrows.
And then watch it move from that third eye space all the way back down.
So now coming to a very specific end point at your third eye space.
One more cycle and then rest awareness at that space between your eyebrows.
And then shift your awareness ever so slightly to the inside of your forehead.
And from the perspective that you are seeing toward the back of your head,
Toward the expanse of your midbrain,
But it's engulfed in darkness.
So looking out over the expanse of your midbrain,
Begin to see the full moon rising and stay with that shape.
Stay with that luminosity and how the moon's rays illuminate your midbrain space.
As you take in these cool,
Quiet qualities of the moon,
You notice that underneath the moon,
Reflecting the moon is a still body of water,
A still lake.
And you see the moon's reflection so clearly.
And you know instinctively that this lake represents your mind and that any time a thought passes,
A ripple appears on the lake.
As you stay with the full moon,
Her reflection,
And the still lake of the mind,
Your thoughts,
The ripples in the water become fewer and fewer.
And you stay here,
Resting in the soothing qualities of the light of the full moon,
The calmness of the still lake,
Those qualities seeping into your being.
And as you bring awareness back into your breath,
The still lake of the mind,
The full moon begins to fade,
But their qualities,
Their effects on you remain.
Feeling calm,
Supported,
And at ease,
Please bring your hands into your heart center,
Bowing your head slightly toward this light that shines within you toward this still lake of the mind and offer yourself this bow,
This prayer.
Remaining calm,
Restful,
Supported.
Thank you for your practice.
