Beloved ones,

I speak to you from the light that shines in the hearts of those who have loved beyond themselves,

Those who have surrendered their soul to the current of love without expectation,

Without weighing how much they gave.

Today,

I want to speak to you about compassion in relationship,

That sweet and mighty force that sustains love when joy is dimmed by the winds of misunderstanding,

Of distance,

Or of pain.

Compassion is the backbone of all true love.

Loving is easy when the sun is shining,

When the touch of the other stirs your skin,

When words flow like a crystal stream.

But what happens when the other retreats into a world of shadows?

When their words wound,

When their actions confuse?

What happens when love is tested by human fragility,

By unhealed wounds,

By fear and uncertainty?

It is then that compassion rises as a bridge that prevents the break,

As the bomb that mends the wound without demanding anything in return.

Compassion is not pity,

Nor is it sacrifice.

It is not the denial of your own self to hold another in their fall,

Nor is it martyrdom through the acceptance of what should never be accepted.

Compassion is the ability to see the other through the eyes of the soul,

To perceive their pain even when it is expressed in clumsy or hurtful ways.

It is the knowing that behind every shadow lies a story,

Behind every reaction a root,

Behind every distance a fear.

Compassion is the wisdom of love that sees all beings as,

In some way,

Wounded children longing for a hand that won't let go when the fear of falling sets in.

In relationship,

Compassion is what allows you to see beyond the immediate moment.

It is what keeps an argument from turning into a battlefield,

Where one must win and the other lose.

It is what invites you to ask,

What hurt is hiding behind their words?

What fear is tucked inside their silence?

How can I see their soul,

Not just their reaction?

When even one of you chooses compassion in a moment of conflict,

The energy shifts,

The battlefield dissolves,

And love finds its way back in.

Compassion invites you to hold the gaze of the other,

Without judgment,

Even when their actions stir your own pain.

It does not mean accepting the unacceptable,

But rather understanding the place from which the other acts.

It also means setting boundaries with love when needed,

For true love does not allow itself to be trampled,

But teaches gently where respect for the other ends and respect for oneself begins.

Compassion is the deep knowing that even when the other seems cold or distant,

There is a being within them longing to love and be loved.

It is the trust that love is greater than any temporary wound,

That the soul's union transcends the small frictions of daily life.

Compassion is what allows you to return again and again to the heart,

To that space where there is no blame,

No punishment,

Only the sincere desire to understand and to heal together.

And if ever you feel that your compassion is running dry,

Return to yourself,

To your own love for yourself.

For no one can offer compassion unless they have first embraced themselves with tenderness.

Be gentle with your own flaws,

Your own missteps,

Your own moments of shadow.

Only when you learn to love yourself in your own imperfection,

Will you be able to look upon the other with the same mercy.

True love is not the absence of conflict.

It is the continual choice of compassion in the midst of it.

It is the reminder that you are not together to conquer one another,

But to grow,

To illuminate one another,

To hold each other steady when the path grows uncertain.

It is the deep knowing that every challenge is a chance to love more deeply,

More freely,

And more wisely.

If you can be compassionate in love,

Your union will be strong like stone and soft like wind.

Nothing will break it,

For the love rooted in compassion is unbreakable.

It is nourished not only by passion,

But by the understanding of the soul.

And so I bless you on this journey of conscious love.

May your relationship become a temple of light,

A sacred space where compassion is the bond that unites you beyond time and space.

With all my love,

Mary Magdalene.
