An urge to control the state of your work affairs when you should be resting... The seemingly innocent act of opening an email on the Sunday before going for a walk can bring your mind to unrest and clutter it with unnecessary information. However, there is a positive flip side to this vice: it might be proof that you love your work and you have the potential to be a great creator.

Hello and welcome to this talk on mindfulness at work.

Thank you for joining me and my thoughts.

Before I share,

I invite you to take a deep breath in and out,

Just to clear your thoughts and just to be present.

Thank you.

I hope we are present and centered in this talk.

What I wanted to share is a reflection on why we sometimes can get this compulsive urge of checking our work messages and communications during our hours of rest.

I have observed myself doing so,

Opening my phone and glimpsing a message arriving from the director or from a colleague and an email on a Sunday,

And I couldn't resist just opening it a little bit to just understand what it is about.

And maybe I knew that even if I wanted to dedicate some time to work in the weekend,

Which I don't think is always healthy,

Depends on your rhythm,

But even if I wanted to,

I couldn't do it now because I had other plans.

But still,

Even heading out to a party,

To a walk,

Before closing my phone,

I would read this message and then this message would stick with me and be in my head and I had known in advance that I wouldn't be able to answer it or to even process it.

So why is it happening?

And my reflection brought me to the use of my wheel model and I was trying to understand at what archetype,

What phase of the cycle this happens.

By the way,

If you want to download the wheel model,

It is available for free.

It is not a paid product,

So you can find it at my resources.

And there are four stages of the wheel model.

You can also listen to another podcast that I've made on it.

And this urge for control belongs to the stage of the creator.

And this stage is also the stage of love.

So this is how I understood that weirdly,

Unpredictably,

But unarguably,

My urge to control the state of my messages,

The communication that I'm receiving,

Is just the proof that I love my work.

However,

At the stage of the creator,

When we come to this possibility of the great virtue of love,

We are also assigned a great task of letting go of the control.

Love is our main virtue here.

And this is the stage where we have a known rhythm and we can organize our work in the way that would benefit us the most and would be most caring and benefiting to the products of our work themselves.

So we are shifting from being the driver to being a gardener that creates optimal conditions for the fruit to grow.

And this is where this temptation for control,

This weakness of control appears.

Because now we know our work well enough to be able to control it,

But it is also the time when we need to start letting go and prepare the structures around rather than push the action forward.

And this is how we get to the optimal manifestation of the creator stage.

A balanced being with clear written rituals,

Processes,

Creating all this magnificent universe in your calling,

In your work,

In your life mission.

And this is how from a simple and irritating urge to check your messages on a Sunday,

You can conclude that you are in fact a great creator with a potential to organize your work in a way that would be most loving to you and your community and your gift that you are bringing forth to the world.

Thank you.
