Welcome to this meditation during the solar eclipse,
April 8th,
2024,
In Oaxaca,
Mexico,
San Mateo.
You're hearing the sounds of crunching leaves on the dry ground under bare feet,
Numerous birds,
Someone working down below,
The quiet as the sun comes back,
The sky clears,
The wind increases.
I'm walking to a waterfall,
Feeling full of life,
While holding a leaf that is dead,
And beautiful,
And a golden thread,
Some wool string that's woven together that was on the path.
Find a comfortable place,
Sitting if possible,
Eyes closed,
Settle into your breath.
Try to relax and breathe normally.
And then at the top of each breath,
A short pause,
Just a second or so.
Nothing difficult.
And at the bottom of each breath,
A short pause.
Nothing.
Feel at ease.
Adjust if needed.
Relax into the moment.
On this path,
I now see two stakes that are leaned against each other.
Two are old and have been sitting here a long time,
Two are newer and recently carved.
There's an opening in the middle,
Probably to store firewood,
Materials for the future,
To stay warm at night.
And as you sit and contemplate the returning of the sun,
This new season,
This new moon,
May you feel resourced.
May you feel the abundance of a stack of firewood,
Or whatever materials feel good for you,
Where you are.
Two golden butterflies,
Relaxing on some flowers,
Small white flowers that bring them nutrients.
An area of focus one might consider today is releasing frustration.
As if we could be frustrated when the sun goes away,
Frustrated when an eclipse occurs,
Or night arrives a little too soon.
Whether we have to go inside and not play anymore,
Or end our day,
Or something changes.
One could be frustrated by an eclipse or a sunset.
And instead of fighting that frustration,
Today I'm considering flying through it,
Flying over it like a golden butterfly.
The softness,
The slowness,
Being with it,
Letting it release,
Helping it to dissolve,
Eating something delicious with fresh local honey,
Sipping some healthy juice,
Releasing the frustration of a stray rock under the heel.
How could I walk so,
In such a way that it hurts my foot?
How could I not notice this rock?
Why was I stepping so heavily?
All these questions could arise.
And the minor pain floats away,
It dissipates.
And as you're breathing,
Calmly,
Relaxed,
Let your mind drift into a softer state.
Focus on your center,
Center of your chest,
And a little to the right.
Or if you're feeling a little rebellious,
Try a little to the left.
See what that feels like.
And then let's slow down even further.
More slowness.
Relaxed breathing.
Feel the wind as it rises out of the valley.
Rest in the knowing that you are here.
And sometimes your intuition to put on shoes might be true.
Something sharp might be ahead.
But even that will likely fade quickly.
Learning to listen to our guidance of our gut,
Our intuition,
Can help us along our path.
Sending out peace to you,
To your loved ones,
To wherever you live.
Peace to Oaxaca,
To Mexico,
To the world.
