The practice of iRest is based on Yoga Nidra, which can help you to feel calm and less stressed. These practices can help change how you react to people, life, and challenging situations, allowing you to make better decisions. The Thrive Inside version of the iRest practice offers a simplified take on it that is suitable for the mainstream, particularly for those in recovery programs.

Hello,

Welcome to a short introduction about the ThrivingSide courses and support material using the practice of IRS Yoga Nidra Sleep Meditation.

So there are three courses and packs available that can be used either on their own or as a support to some live groups,

Either online or in person.

Course one is a support pack with varying lengths of meditations available for you to dip in and out of in your own time,

As and when you need them.

These are taken from the individual steps of the practice of IRS,

Which we'll be going through in the courses.

These practices can be used on their own at any time you wish or as a support for you to use before,

During or after any of the live sessions while you're going through the recorded ThrivingSide courses.

The second course consists of over 18 hours of audio content,

Worksheets and exercises which are taken out from the two books that accompany the courses.

So course two is broken down into eight main sections or sessions.

It was originally designed to be done over an eight-week period.

This can help to build consistency.

This might not work for you,

Especially as there's so much content to go through.

So the course can be done at its own pace,

If that's what feels right for you.

Course three is a recap course.

That can be done after course two,

Or it can be used as a support pack if you're doing the live groups,

Courses or as a follow-on to course two.

There's a full-length 35-minute practice each week you can do after the section.

So the IRS practices are coming together of modern-day psychology and ancient meditation practices that have been used for hundreds of years to help people understand themselves,

To find peace in their lives,

Freeing themselves from the struggles they may be facing,

Including dealing with unpleasant thoughts and feelings,

Past events that might be upsetting you.

There's ten steps in the IRS practice.

Going through these steps can help you to understand yourself better as a person,

Why you do certain things.

These practices and the tools available in them can be used to help you manage stress,

Anxiety,

Uncomfortable feelings and emotions,

Challenging thoughts.

They can help you to cope with the tension of daily life.

You can find they can be helpful to heal things from the past that might be upsetting you,

Causing you distress and other problems.

Practices can help you to connect with a part of yourself that's undamaged and free,

Regardless of where you are physically or with what you've been through.

Practicing regularly can help you to safely feel into the body and develop a connection with a sense of inner comfort and safety,

A feeling of ease and well-being that can be used to manage uncomfortable feelings and emotions.

We say our connecting with the breath can be a powerful healing tool,

Both of which you can learn more about in the courses.

We also touch on looking at your deepest wish for life and gratitude.

So the practice I'm sharing with you here can help someone to manage the physical,

Mental and emotional challenges you may face,

Which are often driven by difficult and traumatic events from the past.

Whatever your situation,

You can all be caught up in the prison of the mind.

These practices can help you to find a different way to deal with things that trouble you,

So you're less reactive,

But able to respond in a healthy,

Mature way.

They can help you to find a sense of meaning and purpose,

To help you live a fulfilling life and connect with a feeling and sense of inner freedom and peace.

It's up to you how much you practice,

But little and often is good.

Maybe building up gradually to try the longer practices when you're ready.

I hope you can find them as useful as I have.
