Healing What Was Missing A Father's Day Meditation for Daughters Welcome to this meditation.
This is a meditation for daughters with absent or emotionally unavailable fathers who struggle with Father's Day.
I hope this meditation helps you find peace and honor your heart on Father's Day.
Take the time now to find a quiet space.
I invite you to sit or lie down,
Whichever feels comfortable for you.
This is your moment for healing.
You can begin by closing your eyes or lowering your gaze.
Go ahead and take a few deep breaths at your own pace.
Let's begin with a body scan.
I will describe it for you from your head to your toe and notice anything that is coming up in your body.
This is our way to relax.
Begin at the top of your head.
Relax your forehead and your cheeks.
Go ahead and move down to your neck,
Then your shoulders.
Now move to your chest and to your belly.
Remember to breathe.
Move along to your hips,
Then your thighs.
Continuing down to your knees and your calves.
Lastly,
Down to your feet and toes.
By now,
You should feel a sense of calm over your body.
Imagine walking through a forest.
The sun is peeking through the trees.
You come across a stream.
It's crystal clear.
So clear you can see fish swimming through it.
You see pebbles and rocks glistening.
The beautiful sound of the water makes you feel at ease.
You begin to see leaves floating down the stream.
Each leaf has a word written on it.
The first leaf says sadness.
The next one,
Anger.
Shame.
Disappointment.
Fear.
Loneliness.
Rejection.
These are feelings that come up for you a lot,
Especially around Father's Day.
Your father was absent or emotionally unavailable,
And these feelings always stuck with you.
They were painful.
However,
Today,
It feels different.
You see the words.
They don't stick.
They just float on by.
You notice and you release.
You notice them and release.
Take a deep breath.
You continue to walk through the forest.
There's a bench with a letter addressed to you.
You open the letter.
It reads as follows.
Dear You.
This was never about you.
This was never your fault.
I love you.
I miss you.
You were always enough.
I just didn't love me enough to stay or communicate in the right way.
I'm sorry.
Love,
Your father.
Take another deep breath.
You continue to walk through the forest and see huge trees with huge trunks.
You notice there are words carved in the trunks of these trees.
The first tree says,
You are not alone.
You keep walking and the next tree says,
You are worthy.
The next one,
You are more than enough.
The next one,
Your feelings are valid.
And the last tree,
You matter and are loved.
As you walk out the forest,
You feel a sense of calm.
You see lots of people in the parking lot excited to start their journey in the forest.
A father and daughter holding hands are walking towards you.
The father says,
The forest is healing,
Isn't it?
And you say,
Yes it is.
Yes it is.
I invite you to come back to the room.
Go ahead and wiggle your fingers and your toes.
When you're ready,
I invite you to open your eyes.
I hope this meditation gave you a sense of peace and comfort.
Feel free to come back to this meditation anytime.
Thank you.
