Hello and welcome to this Chi Yoga Acupressure Session for Mental Clarity.

My name is Noelle Wright and I have been practicing Chinese medicine and yoga for over 25 years and love blending these two practices to help you heal.

In Chinese medicine,

The lack of mental clarity is most related to the spleen organ,

Which has the job of transforming our nutrient and food intake into chi or energy and then transporting that chi to the rest of the body.

This is a huge job.

If the spleen is overtaxed with improper diet,

Stress or lack of physical activity,

It becomes sluggish and this could present as a feeling of heaviness,

Not only in the body but in the brain.

Sometimes we call this brain fog.

In this meditation,

We will use acupressure and breathing to help move our spleen chi and restore clarity to our minds.

To begin,

Find a comfortable upright seat that can be on a chair or sitting in a comfortable cross-legged position on the floor or a yoga mat or meditation cushion.

Feel grounded in your feet or sitz bones and a lightness and lifting upwards through the crown of your head.

Now place your hands over the spleen organ area,

Which is just under the ribs on the left side near the diaphragm.

Breathe into that area and sense a feeling of warming energy to the organs as you take three deep breaths.

Imagine that you're sending some healing light into your spleen.

Now take your hands to the insides of your legs near the ankles and begin to lightly tap or slap the inner legs from the ankles to the upper inner thighs.

This will wake and move the chi in the spleen and the liver meridians.

Continue to lightly slap the inner legs for another three to five deep breaths.

This might feel a bit like a stinging sensation.

When you finish,

Pause and feel the chi or energy in the inner thigh meridians.

Now reestablish a comfortable seat,

Grounding through your feet or sitz bones and reaching through the crown of your head.

Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

Now take your right hand and place the palm with the thumb just under the left armpit.

Exactly where your pinky finger is,

Is the location of spleen acupoint 21.

This point is called the great enveloping or the great embrace in English.

Spleen 21 is dense with connective tissue and fascia that connects to the organs,

Our arms,

Legs and the muscles of the abdomen.

It has a profound effect on the whole body.

Massage in this sensitive area for three to five breaths.

As you massage,

Imagine that your chi is spreading to all parts of your body.

When you're finished,

Take a deep breath,

Feel your chi movement and then repeat on the opposite side using your left hand under the right armpit to locate spleen 21.

Take three to five breaths while massaging this area.

When you are done,

Place your hands back on your lap.

Reestablish your posture,

Connecting your feet or sits bones to the earth and the crown of your head to the heavenly chi.

Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

Lastly we will activate governing vessel 20 at the crown of the head.

This is near our soft spot.

We're located by following from the tips of your ears to the center of our skull.

Gently tap this acupoint with a few fingers while taking three to five deep breaths.

This point is awesome for memory.

Imagine sense or feel your brain as a beautiful clear crystal bowl ready to receive or recall any information you desire.

When you finish tapping,

Place your hands back to your lap and continue to breathe.

Notice,

Feel or sense any warmth or movement and a clearness,

A clarity in your mind.

Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

Now take both hands,

Place them again over the spleen organ area on the left side of the lower rib cage.

Breathe deeply into the spleen.

I hope you enjoyed this acupressure meditation from my Chi Yoga class.

Until we meet again,

May you know peace.

Namaste.
