Hello everybody and welcome to Meditation 6.
The name of this meditation is called the Pillar of Light.
The next important posture of awareness that we're discussing here is in the context of light.
So the very first expression,
The movement from the source of the ground of being is radiant,
Pure light and as I've explained infinite peace.
And anyone interested in spirituality or religion will recognise that light as an illuminating and life giving energy has been a much used metaphor for the divine since the beginning of time.
Pure light has therefore been equated with the light of truth,
The light of God and the light of consciousness or the light of Buddha or the Christ light or the cosmic light depending on where you were born and what you were taught.
So nearly all cultures,
People and religious groups through the ages have talked about the phenomenon of light in the context of the spiritual or mystical experience.
Spiritually inclined individuals have also spoken of being called to the light,
Of being filled with light or being guided by the light and of dissolving in an ocean of light etc.
Those who claim to have seen visions of holy beings typically report that they were surrounded by a radiant luminescence.
Light the eternal unborn awareness of all phenomena including the mind and our thoughts is expressed as radiant love,
Healing one's internal divisions and wounds and eventually enabling the seeing or realisation that there is no distinction between the infinite absolute and the sacred presence that is finally noticed at the core of one's being.
When it is recognised that your true nature is pure white light or non-dual awareness,
Peace of mind is realised.
Perceptions,
Experiences,
Thoughts and feelings come and go in the light of consciousness.
That is being.
That is the deeper true I.
Opening yourself to the emerging consciousness and bringing its light into this world then becomes the primary purpose of your life.
Making the world less worldly or love makes the world less worldly,
Less dense,
More transparent to the divine dimension.
The light of consciousness itself.
In summary,
The divine light is not something that can ever be seen or even comprehended by the finite mind.
It is the seer or that which does the seeing.
When we see truly there is a knowing that our inside world and the outside world are as one full of forms or phenomena and all contained in that formless awareness which is the light of life.
And so as an exercise we're just closing our eyes once again if they're not already closed of course.
And we're just going to imagine,
Feel,
Sense,
Whatever it is you can do.
And just noticing we're going back to into the mind we're going to look into the centre of your forehead into that which is known as the third eye.
We're going to take yourself just look into that space between your forehead,
Between your eyebrows and look deeply into the depth of that space and there might be colours floating by.
But just notice that there's a pinprick of light right right right right in the distance.
And see yourself moving towards that pinprick of light.
You may notice that the eyes flicker and there might be lots of colours or shapes or images around but just continue to look further out as far as you can see in the horizon.
There's that tiny pinprick of light and you're getting closer and closer and as you get closer to it it gets bigger and bigger and more radiant glowing and you allow your attention to fall fully into the light allowing yourself to fully fall into that light.
And you're just noticing when you leave all of the world behind and you just move into this light everything of the world just falls away and you may find yourself just floating in an ocean of light.
You may have sensations or visions but allow yourself to keep on falling deeper.
Allow yourself to fall through the light.
Notice as you fall through the light where do you fall beyond the light.
You fall beyond the light you fall back into the ground of being.
Back into the formless,
Timeless,
Unmoving,
Buried the abyss of peace.
And it's from this ground of being from which that movement,
The very first movement of pure light extends itself from.
And so you can move your attention from the ground of being and then you can allow yourself to just as quickly jump back into the movement,
That spark,
That movement of light.
And just notice how quickly you can be in the light as well.
That light is where all sounds and images and everything arises in that in the place of light.
Colours,
Everything arises from the light.
And that is the very first expression,
The very first movement.
This is where the spirit beings are.
This is the light,
The essence of empty spaciousness of spirit.
The peace and radiance of heaven,
Nirvana,
Whatever it is that this has expressed the afterlife.
This is a beautiful place of being.
And we continue to move from this place into the existence of all things.
And allow yourself to rest in that ocean of light.
Or you may want to drop again down beneath it and fall back into the ground of being.
It's a beautiful,
Abyss of formless and empty peace.
And you'll notice that they both have the same feeling.
One is just the movement,
The light is the movement.
And the ground of being is the peace.
So one is,
One is the ground of being at peace.
And the other one is the ground of being in movement.
Day four.
