Welcome to this heart meditation.

Begin this meditation by taking a deep breath in,

Pulling the air into your heart center.

And as you exhale,

Release and relax the entire body.

Take a few breaths in,

And a few releasing,

Relaxing breaths out,

To connect your breath with the rhythm of your heart speed.

As you breathe,

Bring your awareness to the middle of the chest,

And see if you can feel your heart moving as it beats,

Sending vibrations throughout your entire body.

Breathe in and out.

When the soul first enters the human body,

Before it has manifested its own heartbeat,

The soul hears the flushing and flowing of fluids,

And a strong gong-like beating of a mother's heartbeat.

Let the sound of the heart beating be a reminder that the soul is active within our human body,

Unlike the breath which is only with us from the moment we're born until the moment we die.

The heart beats with us from very early on as a fetus,

And often beats long after our last breath.

In this meditation,

Let us focus not just on the breath or bodily sensations,

Feelings,

But rather the heart,

Or a spiritual center,

Atman,

Our own divinity.

The Upanishads say that when we go into the cave of the heart,

We can find the treasures of heaven.

That all the miracles of the universe,

The sun,

The moon,

The stars,

Spaciousness,

Clouds,

Lightning and rains,

All live within the heart of a human.

Inhale in,

And exhale out.

The heart is considered the seat of feelings,

A world of individual emotions.

It's a direct connection with our soul.

In this meditation,

We use the heart to focus on feeling.

By feeling,

Feeling into ourselves,

We can understand clearly our own being and our reason for being.

By focusing on how you feel in your heart,

You pull your awareness away from the mind and into the radiance emanating from the region of the chest.

This is where the intuition and the soul,

There is a heart in everything,

Within every atom.

And all life is a movement towards this center.

Our intuition which comes from the heart is divine because it represents a direct participation in the universal spiritual wisdom.

The heart is considered a place of revelation,

Raw,

True feeling,

A vital center of being.

If you stay here and feel into the heart,

You become connected to your entire spiritual self.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Before I leave you here to explore and inquire into the feelings of your heart and your heart region,

I offer you a poem by the Sufi mystic Rumi.

There is a candle in your heart ready to be kindled.

There is a void in your soul ready to be filled.

You feel it,

Don't you?

You feel the separation from the beloved.

So invite him to fill you up and embrace the fire.

As you breathe in,

Feel,

Connect,

Embrace.

As you breathe out,

Feel,

Connect.

As you breathe out,

Feel,

Connect.

As you breathe out,
