It’s Never Too Late – A Moment Of Reflection

Poetry allows us the opportunity to connect with universal ideas about life. Through listening to poetry, we can reflect on the questions that arise with how we approach our own lives and the choices we make or have made in the past. Today we will spend time with a poem by F. Scott Fitzgerald, author and poet. Through listening to his poem, we will then move into a time of reflection with four different questions I will pose for us to sit with either in meditation or in journaling. Hi,

Thank you so much for joining me today.

I'm Shannon,

And grateful that you're here with me in this practice.

I'd like to share this poem with you by author,

Novelist,

And playwright F.

Scott Fitzgerald,

First as an inspiration,

And then as a moment of reflection and contemplation.

Here is F.

Scott Fitzgerald's poem.

For what it's worth,

It's never too late,

Or in my case too early,

To be whoever you want to be.

There's no time limit.

Start whenever you want.

You can change or stay the same.

There are no rules to this thing.

We can make the best or the worst of it.

I hope you make the best of it.

I hope you see things that startle you.

I hope you feel things you've never felt before.

I hope you meet people who have a different point of view.

I hope you live a life you're proud of.

And if you're not,

I hope you have the courage to start over again.

I hope you see F.

Scott Fitzgerald's poem first as an inspiration to inspire your day,

To know that no matter where you're at in your journey in life,

Whether you want to make changes or everything's going just the way you want,

That you make the best of each moment.

And now I'd like to do some moments of reflection by asking questions that you can reflect on in your own life.

For this part,

I encourage you either to move into a quiet,

Seated space of mindfulness,

And either reflect on the questions within yourself,

Or if you are someone who loves to journal,

I encourage you now to get something to write with,

That you can write these questions down and spend a moment of reflection in journaling.

Whichever method is best for you.

Let's move into this space now.

I'll have you take a deep breath in,

Connecting with your lungs,

And exhaling.

And now imagining your connection with Mother Earth,

Who grounds your physical body and helps slow down your emotional body by connecting with her and her support.

From this space,

Taking a deep breath in,

Really breathing in that air of her trees and plants which nourish you,

And exhaling fully.

Taking one more deep breath in,

This time putting your hands on your stomach,

And taking a deep breath in from your higher self,

Your soul self,

And inhaling and feeling your belly expand,

Bringing in that energy connected to your higher self,

And exhaling fully.

With F.

Scott Fitzgerald's poem in your heart and mind,

And your body centered in this space,

I'm going to ask four different questions of reflection.

After each question,

I'll have a moment of silence for 2 minutes and 22 seconds,

The sacred number of connecting with yourself.

The first question is this,

What rules have you created for your life that work for you?

What rules or structures have you created for your life that work for you?

Take this time now to either sit in a moment of reflection or to journal.

Allow your body,

Your mind,

Your heart,

And your spirit to shed wisdom on this question for you.

And take a deep breath in,

And exhale,

And now let's move into our second question of reflection.

What rules have you structured in your life that may no longer be serving you now?

Just bring this question into your heart and mind,

Connecting with your higher self,

And listening to what all the different parts of you share with you now.

And take a deep breath in,

And exhale,

And now our third question for reflection.

What in your life are you proud of?

Name all the things in your life,

Past,

Present,

Or future,

That you are proud of.

Allow yourself to connect with those inspirations of your own life that you're proud of.

Take this time now to connect.

And take a deep breath in,

And exhale fully,

And now our fourth and final question of reflection.

What things in your life that you aren't proud of would you like to work on shifting?

What are the things that are currently in your life that you aren't proud of,

Would you like to work on shifting or changing?

Allow yourself to take this question of reflection into your heart,

And then asking your higher self to share with you his or her wisdom.

Allow yourself to listen now.

And take a deep breath in,

And exhale,

And now we'll close our moment of reflection with F.

Scott Fitzgerald's poem once more.

For what it's worth,

Too early.

To be whoever you want to be,

This was very thought provoking . I had to listen to it several times because your voice is so soothing I would fall asleep. 😴😁 But I reflected on each question and I did make a major change in the way I start my day more mindfully in prayer to set the tone for my day. it’s something I always did but my routine has been changed by my recovery from my injury. So now I can go back to the basic practice and I think it will make all the difference. So thank you, Shannon, for taking the time to make such a Soul searching meditation. 🙏🏼✨🌟💜
